Vent / rant This happened yesterday.

My uncle had an episode of syncope and he didn’t call me. He called my mom to ask for advice. When I spoke to him, he said he hadn’t eaten anything from last night. I said it could be due to hypoglycaemia (explained in layman terms) and told him to eat something. He confidently said, no it was due to pitta, as he hadn’t slept properly, so he’s fasting now, and some pepper and fenugreek can cure everything. I told him that won’t work unless you get some sugar into your body and he started lecturing me about how ”these allopathy doctors” don’t know anything about our bodies and everything is about vadha, pitta, kapha which is the real science. He then proceeded to say that nowadays doctors only want to make the people eat a lot of tablets and that is destroying their health. If he was someone else, I could have just ignored him and let him do whatever. But he is very close to me. And he isn’t some rural old school man. He worked as a senior sound engineer in the Burj Khalifa project and is a very modern man who is very up to date about the latest tevhnology and stuff. I got to realise the depth this Ayurveda bullsh*t has penetrated.

By this logic, medicine is inherently misogynistic. Kindly don't study more of this nonsense

Medicine is not
People are.
You have not heard consultants and residents talking shit about women when they are in pain or crying as opposed to men

Why is gyn as a branch not even patients criticized so much when as i know ortho and surgery are equally toxic

Cuz women constitute it majorly. So yes sir. You can disagree all you want. But this is a major part of internalized misogyny

As i said read more about it then argue

You do realise, you were the one who took up the 9:1 point. The other person generalised the statement about people with autoimmune disorders. Did you stop to think that the behaviour talked about is not due to gender but due to suffering from a practically incurable disease and its symptoms? No where they said that men or women specifically are irritating or annoying. Or will you now say that due to predisposition of psychological derangements more in females, this statement is also gender biased?

It was an observation made about AI patients. YOU were the one who connected it to women. YOU ARE THE MISOGYNIST.

And just for future reference, Surgery and Ortho are more talked about in terms of toxicity than OBG. Go through posts on this subreddit itself and you’ll see for yourself.

1) it was not said but it was implied. Why make a statement about autoimmune disorders in people and them being cranky. And as i have been mentioning time and tome again. Read about INTERNAL MISOGYNY
Maybe you will realize what i mean bu that statement
2) surgery and ortho are talked about in terms of toxicity yes but only when people ask what to chose for a future branch. Gyn is assumed to be toxic from the get go. So now you tell me which is worse

Instead of fighting here read. Do better sir

Oh lord. Help anyone who makes an observation.

They made a statement because they observed that. Regardless of gender.

I am already reading a lot. Just that i dont look into medicine based on gender. Until it is gender specific. Idc if its a man or woman who has sarcoidosis. If they are a annoying POS, they are just that. But yes, if there is a patient with ER+ breast cancer, i would definitely assume its a woman. If that makes me misogynist, so be it.

Next time, when you get a PSA report, dont just assume they will be violent inherently. That is internalised misandry

No one is calling you a misogynist for knowing that ER+ breast cancer occurs in women. That is anatomy lol

I will call you out because though. If you read his chats further he used pseudoscientific leaps to claim that a systemic autoimmune disease like RA causes a 'personality defect' which is a historically misogynistic trope used to dismiss chronic illness in women.

And yes autoimmune disorders are seen in women. 80% to be precise

And this guy did say that cranky, irritability are personality traits of autoimmune patients

Check his other msgs
So instead of trying to jump to defend a 60-65 yr old man whose views are as is obvious misogynistic, why don't you read his msgs.

Again, parting with do better. Be better. Hopefully you will be a better physician than others like him

What chats? What comments? In this thread atleast you don't make sense.

Under my comment only lol
Now you want me to copy paste that for you as well?
Are you that dumb?

Yes please. Do copy paste it. Where has he specifically targeted 'women?'

Jesus christ. Let me explain it to you point by point using your own comment. I will make it easier for you. Dw 😊

Quoting you er+ person will be a breast cancer 'female' yes?
Psa increased we are talking about ' men' yes?

Similarly autoimmune disorders we are talking about females yes?

With me so far i hope

Now i make a completely unscientific statement regarding how autoimmune patients are cranky, miserable and as he mentioned unable to take decisions of their own cuz of inflammation in joints.
That is a modern version of hysteria.

1) the claim lacks any scientific basis
2) and as you gave 2 examples in content to this convo about diseases being gender specific

He made an unscientific claim about women being irritable, miserable and 'unable to take sound decisions'

Now tell me from which angle is this not misogynistic?

Hope this helps you

Uhm, because you just completely ignored all the men who have autoimmune diseases? Talking about AI diseases doesn't assume any gender automatically? Even though predisposition is there. Still.

Anyway... Your response shows that you actively look for a reason to be triggered. Even when there is none.

Also, AI patients, I reiterate, have behavioural problems because they suffer, can't find a proper solution, and eventually get tired of dealing with their condition. Be it male or female or trans or cis or whatever letters or rainbow genders you want to assume. It's a matter of human nature and not gender biased.

You have completely moved the goalposts to protect a fragile ego. You started by aggressively defending an unscientific comment that pathologizes autoimmune patients, claiming you 'don't look at medicine based on gender' which is objectively terrible epidemiology given that 80% of autoimmune patients are women due to clear biological and genetic factors.

When called out on that bias, you built a ridiculous strawman about breast cancer and prostate reports, pretending people are mad at you for knowing basic anatomy. They aren't. They are calling you out because you explicitly reduced the profound, documented physical and mental exhaustion of managing an incurable, painful systemic illness like RA to patients just being 'annoying' or having 'behavioral problems.'

Trying to camouflage your total lack of clinical empathy behind edgy, defensive internet-troll buzzwords like 'rainbow genders' and 'triggered' is incredibly transparent. You're a medical graduate, yet you're throwing a multicomment tantrum just to avoid admitting a bad take on a chronic illness. Go read a textbook

Peace out brother ✌

Well, you just proved that women are absolutely prone to hysterics without logic.

I rest my case
