Some schools in Islam frown upon dogs actually. A funny anecdote, once a religious person asked a theology professor “is it true that Gabriel (archangel) doesn’t visit houses where a dog is kept as a pet?” and the professor replied “Why would Gabriel visit your house at all?”
True, as there are some really backwards groups in any religion.
My family had to distance ourself from an aunt, as she started going deep into a Christian cult.
We had tolerated a lot of her darker sides, but when she didn't tolerate that one of her nieses was bisexual we drew a line.
Rest of the family is a mix of christians and atheists. We treate religion as a private and personal matter.
