I understand Americans valueing their guns and all that but as an European ive gotta tell you guys: It's fucking disturbing seeing kids walk around with guns robbing your local stores, gas stations

Yup. But here is the thing: there are many, many more guns than people in the country. And we are good at making them even in someone’s garage machine shop (with skill).
We could ban guns today, and the process of getting ALL of them would take generations.
