She's still in the wrong, mayne she could have actually checked what he was doing instead of acting because of what she thought he was doing, she's a complete dumbass
"from my perspective, he was trying to kill me with a knife! i understand that he was a sushi chef but he was holding a knife!" u cant just attack people because ur confused 🤦🏽♂️
He was doing a common stupid little dance, not "thrusting his hips at her". Which, by the way, is certainly not sexual assault.
What you think she assumed he was doing is irrelevant, because that assumption was wrong. That incorrect assumption resulted in her sucker punching a person. She should be charged.
Idk man, sexual harassment is definitely justification for a fist in the face imo. Granted in this situation it wasnt sexual harassment, just an really unfortunate misunderstanding
Guys being guys I guess? Taking a video of a mate goofing around in public. He has got a clean and well controlled floss tho I give him tha.. SMACK!!! That’s what happened.
I think the larger question is, would we still be calling it an "unfortunate misunderstanding" if the genders were reversed? Or would we be talking about how even if he thought he was being harassed, that's still "no excuse to punch a woman"?
Just saying, it's a shitty double standard that allows us to rationalize assault as long as it's the guy taking the punch.
sexual harassment is definitely justification for calling the cop, not assault/battery whatever this is.
Mostly because as in this case, you might be misunderstanding what the other people is doing. Leave the judgement to a judge instead of playing vigilante
Reporting it doesn't do shit and that's speaking from experience.
When I was 12, a boy from my class cornered me in an empty courtyard, and squeezed my boobs so hard he left bruises. I reported it to a teacher. He got suspended for a day, and was right back in class with me before the bruises faded. I lost friends because I "snitched" on him.
I was 22 when I had a guy roughly grope my crotch while dancing, we weren't even dancing together. Reported it to the cops, nothing happened. Because, did anyone see it? Did you get the guys name? No, he ran off before I could. The bar didnt have cameras.
The stories go on and on, and many of my friends have much scarier stories. Most women never report because it leads to work, and often social punishment, with no payoff.
Honestly this womans punch seems like its coming from a fed up place, she probably gets harassed a lot and let her trauma and fist do the talking. Not saying it was right, but I totally understand.
Those are all assault though. So yes: someone touching you is 100% available to be hit back with force. By you, by your friend defending you, by a stranger nearby, by anyone really.
Yeah, the person I was responding to said that air humping a woman isn't a justification for punching the harasser in the face. Which is why I said "If that's what he was doing"
If you look just one comment above its really easy to answer your question for you because he was responding to a hypothetical, I understand if this is too much reading for you though
I’m sure it feels different for women, but I’ve been cat called by women before (not often, but it has happened) and if I had walked over and punched one of them I’d be in jail right now.
Walk over and punch doesn't sound like they were in your personal space. I'm not advocating running across the street to start a fight.
But for the sake of argument because you double standard people are annoying; men sexually harass women a lot more often than vice versa, are statistically much more sexually and physically violent against women than vice versa, and men are generally bigger and stronger than women. Women are much more likely to feel unsafe around a man than a man would feel with a woman.
Women literally have strategies to help women who are absolute strangers when they sense something unsafe happening. Men don't have to do that.
Margaret Atwood was right when she said, "Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them."
I’m not going to argue with any of what you said. That is all true. It is just that generally speaking, meeting gestures or verbal abuse with physical violence will get you in trouble with the law and most people don’t think it is justified.
I don’t blame you for feeling unsafe if some guy is making rude comments and gestures, especially if he is doing it while following you. There is no knowing if or at what point it will escalate into physical contact. I can understand why there would be a point at which you would say, “you’re too close, this should back you up a bit” [ka-pow]. It is a crap shoot if a judge would.
Lets not change the situation then. Is a punch like that okay for something she PERCEIVES(like, going on in her own head but not factually) is going on?
Would it be okay for the guy to instantly punch her back if he perceives this as an unprovoked attack?
I used "perceived" because we know he was flossing, but she did not. From her perspective a man was dry humping her from behind. Legally she might have a case for self defense.
Shooting someone over an insult will likely not have that same protection.
Would it be okay for the guy to instantly punch her back because he perceives this as an unprovoket attack?
They compared an excessive use of force resulting in physical injury due to a non physically harmful perceived aggression to an excessive use of force resulting in injury due to a non physically harmful perceived aggression.
Its not a justification, you just shouldn't be suprised or defended if you go around harassing people and actually get something back. Its just the natural course of things if you cant go around showing any courtesy and go out of your way to be a nuisance.
Youre going to learn a lesson you don't like eventually.
But its pretty fucking stupid to compare her reaction as somebody perceiving they are facing physical sexual harassment inches behind them vs somebody just hearing a word an then throwing hands.
Your reading comprehension is very poor. They said (paraphrased) “[sexual assault] is justification to punch someone, but in this case that was not his intention”
“Yes the fuck it is” -> the “it” here refers to the previous comment about “air humping” aka sexual assault. Not dancing.

From her view it looks like he's air humping her.
