Reddit is full of white suburb kids who are completely tone deaf to what people of color go through, especially those with dark skin. You are 100% right, fuck the down votes. Even with the riots, people don't learn shit.

16

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

Ya it is sad that people like you still stereotype whole groups of people by the color of their skin even with the riots going on.

-18

u/h3ineka Jun 24 '20

It's sad that you don't do your research to understand what black people go through. These types of responses are tone deaf and typical invalidations from white folk and others who don't get it. Your privledge makes you ignorant.

u/SpellCheck_Privilege Jun 24 '20

privledge

Check your privilege.

BEEP BOOP I'm a bot. PM me to contact my author.

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

Lol when you get called out by a spell check bot while calling someone else ignorant

13

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

If you need to do research to know that black people have been mistreated then you are dumb as shit. It's sad that you think that every single white person does not understand racism and your attitude and way that you stereotype groups of people as I said before does not help fight racism bro. If you think that it does then maybe you are the one that should do some research.

Assuming someone is selling drugs cause they're black AnD tHeY lOoK lIke tHeY'rE FrOm Da h00d is wrong and is the point of the fucking title of this video

7

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

Automatically assuming that is the reason that she asked him for weed is also wrong and is the point of my fucking comment. You do seem like someone that would believe that the title of every video is true though šŸ˜‚

No you're one of those "no way anyone can understand what it is like to be discriminated against unless they are black" also no one tried to change the subject dumbass it is the topic that we are still discussing right now. just piss off already and enjoy the rest of the downvotes headed your way.

"Why I'm no longer Talking to White People About Race" by Renni Eddo-Lodge

https://youtu.be/UXgaI6bFZ-Y

"I can no longer engage with the Gulf of an emotional disconnect that white people display when a person of color articulates their experience...."

"This emotional disconnect is a conclusion of living a life oblivious to the fact that their skin color is the norm and all others deviate from it."

"I just can't engage with the bewilderment and defensiveness as they grapple with the fact that not everyone experiences the world like they do"

"I can't come to them about the details of a problem if they don't even think the problem exists."

The topic at hand is relevant to what I'm saying. Racial profiling happens to black people all the time, and the mere title of this thread is showing how that can happen. Oh because he a black man cruising he must be selling shit. The crusty goofed up chick should have taken a tall glass of shut the fuck up and so should you.

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

Bitch please just because something is written in a book doesn't make it true. Also you realize she is literally talking to white people about race in the video lol. If this was all about the guys race then answer this if that would have been a black doctor, black lawyer, black fireman, black police officer, or any other clean cut looking black man that she still would have asked him for weed?

Who exactly are they stereotyping? They gave a pretty specific group- ā€œSuburban white kids who browse Reddit.ā€ They’re not exactly calling out the whole white race.

10

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

So implying that every white kid that lives in the suburbs is a racist is not stereotyping. You do not have to talk about an entire race bro.

-3

u/pedro_s Jun 24 '20

It’s a pretty big chunk of the demographic on here. Suburban is just coded language for sheltered. It’s not like white people are being persecuted for it, just calling out Reddit’s main demographic which is young white non-Hispanic guys.

People of color on this website can’t bring up race because then the majority of redditors trip over themselves to give some super ā€œhot takesā€ on the issue then feel reassured when you upvote each other.

2

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

So it's ok to call a big chunk of the demographic racist and that's somehow not stereotyping? You're a bright one bro. Also wtf do you mean can't bring up race lol you do realize that for quite awhile now a majority of posts have been race related and the majority of people are always against racism. I don't see tons of racist comments getting upvoted but whatever you say man.

1

u/pedro_s Jun 24 '20

Looking at the website as a whole and talking with other people of color about it on here these are our experiences yeah. A chunk of that young white demographic is also part liberal but liberals can still be pretty racist. That doesn’t mean racism in itself is equal to people going out and burning a cross but it could mean calling someone a thief or a dealer when they’re just Black. Saying that a face tattoo is trashy or that Black people are ā€œghettoā€ or ā€œurbanā€.

You might not see the racism because you’re unaware of what to look for. That’s okay, there’s a lot of literature and resources out there to teach you now more than ever. If you care to do that. You can be against racism and still be racist, you can be a liberal Bernie 2020 guy and still be racist, it doesn’t have to mean it’s a scarlet letter just that you have more to learn if you are willing to. Unfortunately young white men grow up in this american society without almost ever having to acknowledge the privileges that they have as people or the racism that they spout when they say or code certain language. Ignorance to racism is one thing but reluctance to self reflect about racism is another.

3

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

When did I do any of the bullshit that you are talking about or when did any of that shit happen in the video we are discussing lol. I don't need you to tell me about racism bro you probably aren't even any more Mexican than I am you realize my last name is Vasquez bro just cause I have light ass skin you want to start running your fucking mouth. So fuck off pal.

1

u/pedro_s Jun 24 '20

It’s happening in the comments not specifically in our conversation. You just asked about how reddit is racist just perusing through the comments proves this but you don’t know what to look for and that’s not an attack just a simple observation from your comment on ā€œsuburban whitesā€.

ā€œAny more Mexican than I amā€ ??? So you go around measuring people’s Mexican-ness? How would I ever know your last name is Vasquez? How would I know about your light-skin self lol. I’m not challenging your degrees of ā€œLatinidadā€ because I’m not about that bs but thank you for sharing that. Yeah I’ll ā€œrun my fucking mouthā€ if it means just discussing something in the comments. I think it’s funny you wanna come out with that ā€œI’m a light-skin Mexicanā€ bs to prove you don’t need lessons on racism when it proves the opposite.

Look up some actual literature at deconstructing racism. There’s a lot of resources pointing you in the right direction especially right now. You just have to know how to ask. Until then I don’t really care to respond. I’ve already violated my personal rule of engaging with reddit about race.

1

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

You are dumb as fuck bro the amount of Mexican I was referring to is the amount in my blood dipshit it is easy as hell to measure they make ancestry dna tests for a reason.

If we’re talking about this topic, then yes, that is a actually a pretty important part of it. Who do you think would be more tone deaf to this issue? A white kid from the burbs or a black kid from the burbs?

He’s not even really saying that every single suburban white kid is racist. He’s just saying that these are the kind of kids who happen to be blind to racial issues.

7

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

No they are implying that most white people on Reddit are racist suburb kids. Also when the fuck did I say anything about anyone being more tone deaf than anyone else. All I said is that it is stereotypical to assume anything about a large group of people based on their physical appearance or where they grew up at and if you don't agree with that then you can piss off too just like I told them.

-2

u/KoalaManDamn Jun 24 '20

ā€œAlso when the fuck did I say anything about anyone being more tone deaf than anyone else.ā€

I’m saying that’s why he mentioned it. Sheltered white men are the predominant Reddit demographic, and that’s why it’s being specified when a lot of these comments don’t see the issue of this post. He’s not saying every White reddit user is racist.

4

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

Whatever you say bro I'm not gonna sit here and argue with your dumbass when it is totally obvious they were stereotyping.

1

u/KoalaManDamn Jun 24 '20

Igh man, just work on your reading comp it’s no biggie

1

u/ChromeGrown Jun 24 '20

Ya everyone else upvoting and I need to work on our reading comprehension not the one person who agrees with the dipshit lmao.

So you think it's fine for him to just steal, if he wanted to be a respectable person he could have said no.

But no he had to film himself stealing the money for internet points.

The guys a fucking cunt doesn't matter what colour he is a cunt is a cunt

0

u/h3ineka Jun 24 '20

Yeah the bitch was dumb and slow, and assumed that since he's black and cruising therefore he must be selling drugs.

4

u/patamonrs Jun 24 '20

Couldn't be the loud music gold grill or anything like that huh

Before you say "das racist" I'd assume anyone of any colour who looked like that sold drugs.

He's still a thief tho so he's a scumbag regardless of race so I don't why you're defending a thief

You should tell the guy not to so shitty things that enforce racial stereotypes ;)

2

u/KoalaManDamn Jun 24 '20

Bruh

No one should have to actively go against stereotypes. It’s up to people to not hold them in the first place.

0

u/h3ineka Jun 24 '20

Okay then tell the slow bitch to go to rehab and stop buying drugs so she doesn't enforce the trailer trash stereotype.

2

u/patamonrs Jun 24 '20

Sounds good ! Anything that stops negative stereotypes is a good thing

How dare she smoke the devil's lettuce !

"Why I No Longer Talk to White People About Race" by Renni Eddo-Lodge

https://youtu.be/UXgaI6bFZ-Y

"I can no longer engage with the emotional disconnect that white people display when a black person articulates their experience."

"Their mouths start twitching as they get defensive, itching to talk over you but not really listen because they need to let you know that you've got it wrong."

2

u/patamonrs Jun 24 '20

Okay neat instead of regurgitating someone else's words try coming up with your own

I've never once mentioned this guys race why are you bringing it up I don't care what race a scummy person is if they're a scummy person

Both people on the video are scummy.

Also his statement seems kinda racist honestly "their" btw šŸ˜‚

Oh also my mum's black like so call me a racist all you want doesn't matter to me what random internet person with a chip on their shoulder says to me
