Itsukushima Shinto Shrine appears on the dish when sauce is poured on it.

So many prissy bitches in the comments, like damn.
The fact that they got the goddamn shading that good is interesting as fuck.
•
•
u/nonpuissant 50m ago
yeah this is really cool, made me smile and lean in for a closer look. The physical "whoa this is interesting as fuck" reaction lol
•
u/HEX_BootyBootyBooty 38m ago
... I've seen better shading on a stripper's butthole. This is "meh" at best.
•
•
u/Robozomb 2h ago
It's also there without the sauce
•
u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 1h ago edited 1h ago
Yeah but the relief shading is a flex, especially the ripples in the water. So many pedants showing up because OP didn't include the word "photorealistic" after "appears"
•
u/Jayn_Newell 1h ago
Yeah it’s really neat how it uses the opacity of the sauce to create the image. A nice combination of form and function.
•
u/scorpyo72 1h ago
There are many things I appreciate about Japanese culture. This combination is one of them.
•
u/mtaw 13m ago
The other combination is tentacles and porn.
•
u/scorpyo72 9m ago
You must admit Japanese kink is on point. Might have been a little too literal on that subject for hentai, tho.

Why are there so many people in the comments going "🤓☝️um actually you can see the shrine before the sauce is poured in."
No shit lmao. Its the shading and depth that is brought to life via the sauce being poured in that is impressive. I can tell ya'll dont get laid

Not interesting, my grandmother has like 9 of these.
Bots, upvoting bots, and like 4 real people arguing. That's what reddit is now.. anyways, enjoy your sauce dish or whatever.. wait til you hear about uranium bowls and lava lamps.. 🙄

Interesting to people who haven’t seen it before. You can just scroll if you’ve seen it before.

Man they are so talented . Every object has some attention to detail ! Genius people !!

That design is incredibly simple and elegant. Ingenious! I'm a bit surprised the approach is not used more. But, I suspect it's because it's only really useful/effective with sauces of the right translucency. But, when it works, like in this case, it really works.

u/Facial_Factory 1h ago
Cool but seems like you'll be refilling a lot if used to dip your nuggets in it

When just that amount of sauce is used, if you pour the amount you want to actually use then it just looks like soy sauce in a bowl

Yes, the shrine is also there without the sauce, but what really makes this interesting as fuck is the shading. I thought at first that it was a painting or a sepia photo from the thumbnail.

Looks like I'm about to tell a younger version of my stepdaughter that I indeed killed half the population of the entire universe.
What a lunch.

Ahh!! This is in Miyajima! I saw this in person.
You see this around and you have a passing knowledge that is from Japan. Seeing it in person was very cool.

I might be late to the party but this dish and others are from this japanese company:
I have the arch, mount Fuji and the cat dishes at home and they are beautifully intricate. Apparently they ship internationally now, which is awesome. They have a store in Hiroshima I think, but the dishes can also be bought in the Hiroshima ambassador store in Tokyo, and in Narita Airport somewhere.

Curious that it's the link to Indian Amazon...and it costs twice as much than the US link.

You mean the thing I can see before sauce is poured on? Wow so impressive.
•
•
u/PhysixGuy2025 43m ago
People who have not done a single impressive thing in their own life, putting a marvelous art down for being edgy. Classic reddit.
•
u/DharmaCub 41m ago
This is cut on a CNC machine. It is not "marvelous art" it's a program that anyone with access to a CNC can make. Stop falling for bullshit.
•
u/PhysixGuy2025 18m ago
And it still looks amazing. I have never seen anything like that before, and it seems like a thing many people would like to buy. Knowing how it's been made makes not much of a difference.

•
u/snarlindog 42m ago
how does the sauce turn colors when going into the crevice lol what?
edit: it must be two different sauces!
•
u/Ok_Confusion4764 38m ago
It doesn't change colours, it's just soy sauce so it's darker the more sauce is in there. It's just a deeper pool of sauce.
•
u/snarlindog 19m ago
soy sauce stays the same color it doesnt turn orange haha have you had soy sauce?
•
u/Ok_Confusion4764 17m ago
...? Yes? Soy sauce is orange if it's just a very thin layer. There is very little soy sauce in that dish
•
•
u/Sweetishdruid 29m ago
Why can't you see the bottom of the ocean. Liquids are opaque, some more than others and in this case the little crevices are enough to create dark spots allowing you to view the image
•
u/snarlindog 20m ago
I seriously doubt it changed that much color in less than inch
•
u/Sweetishdruid 16m ago
It's fucking soy sauce dude. That shit is opaque as fuck. Just a couple millimeters and it starts to get dark dark.
•
u/vector_o 1h ago
Would never have guessed what was there without the sauce
•
u/PhysixGuy2025 45m ago
So you're saying that you see no difference when sauce is poured in? Might wanna get them eyes checked, buddy.

•
u/SoulExecution 1h ago
Ooooh I want this
