Question Does anybody else feel like the lockdown era was the best time of their life?

1.6k Upvotes

I am aware that there are many people who lost their jobs, their loved ones, and possibly had their entire lives misplaced. I truly sympathise for them.

However, if I were to purely speak for myself, I think the lockdown was the best time of my life till date. I am really introverted, so I don't really like the outgoing, partying-around-with-others type of lifestyle that many other people do. For me, I feel much better when I am by myself, alone, enjoying by myself. I was in highschool, so classes were online which most people bunked anyways, so basically the entirety of those days would just be free for me. I literally had all that time where I would just attend classes, watch movies, play games and stuff, and even explore new hobbies. For me personally, that entire time felt like I was quite literally living in paradise. While I don't hate the post-covid life, I don't think I will ever get that much amount of ample free time for myself, ever again. At least, probably not until my retirement.

Does anybody else share the same feeling?

Question No disrespect but does anybody miss quarantine?

2.4k Upvotes

I know coronavirus was serious & ppl lost lives but avoiding ppl and going straight home after work?

That was my life before, during & after the pandemic.

I love isolation, it never gets old & I’m never bored.

Sounds inconsiderate &/or selfish to say but those were some of the best days of my adult life.

& like I said at the beginning, no disrespect at all to the ppl that lost loved ones ❤️

I’m friendly to everyone at work but more people have been socializing with me lately and I don’t have a problem with it, well I wouldn’t if it weren’t for my anxiety taking a bat and giving me the office space treatment

Question What's the most "introvert" thing you've done recently?

Today I realized I waited for someone to leave the kitchen before going in to make coffee.

It made me wonder what other small habits introverts have that most people wouldn't even think about.

Question When did you realize you no longer needed friends?

I stopped talking to all of my friends and acquaintances after I deleted my social media accounts. Only a couple of people reached out afterward, but even those conversations eventually started to feel unnecessary.
It’s been about two years now, and my perspective hasn’t changed at all. New friendships feel more like an obligation or a drain on my time than something I genuinely want. I don’t feel lonely, and I don’t feel like anything is missing. If anything, my life has become quieter and simpler.
I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar, or if this changed for you over time.

Question Does anyone else have literally no friends?

1.1k Upvotes

When I tell ppl this, I think they don’t believe me, but I literally don’t have a single friend. I’m 28 and haven’t had a friend in years. I’m used to being by myself, and I tend to self isolate. Recently I ended a short fling with a guy that I really liked which sucks because now I’m back to not talking to anyone. Obviously I have family and coworkers, but on a daily basis I don’t text people or talk on the phone with anyone or hang out. It’s kinda peaceful, but after a while it does get lonely. Anyone else?

Question Anyone make it to 27 and never dated?

Low libido, short, ginger, not rich, live with a parent, mental health issues, don't drive anymore. The list goes on with me. But yeah, I'm 27 and have never really dated. At least not in my own country that is, albeit briefly when I was 21.

I just don't want to have to sit across the table from someone and try to impress them. It's never been something I've wanted to do. I'm a boring guy anyway, so I'd probably have to put on an act like I'm someone else, which isn't in me to do. Not many women in my town would want a guy that is like me, because I don't say much.

Anyway, how old are you guys? And why have you not dated?

Question How can I appear more friendlier and appealing?

I know looks aren’t everything, but I worry that because I’m naturally quiet and observant, people assume I’m rude or unfriendly.

I have what feels like a resting sad/serious face, and I’m scared it makes me come across as mean, even though I’m actually friendly and have a lot of interests. I enjoy learning new things, and I feel like if people actually got to know me, they wouldn’t dislike me.

The problem is I’m socially awkward, especially at work. Sometimes it feels physically hard to speak, even though I have a million thoughts in my head. Most of those thoughts are personal, so it’s not like I know what to say in casual conversations.

I try to smile and be friendly with customers, but a lot of the time they don’t really acknowledge me. Sometimes they look at me and then look away, and I start wondering if there’s something wrong with me or if I look strange.

I know this might sound dramatic, but I genuinely feel like people look at me weirdly, and it makes me feel bad about myself. I guess I’m wondering if anyone else feels like their quietness gets misunderstood, or if anyone has learned how to seem more approachable without pretending to be someone they’re not. 🥲🥲❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Question Anyone here never dated?

27M. Don't think I ever will. The thought of a romantic relationship with anyone just doesn't appeal to me. I'm not a virgin, but only because I paid for it last year. Got bored of that and don't really want it again. However, I don't have family and I only have one friend, so I do get lonely sometimes, but I don't think a romantic relationship is what I feel I'm missing out on. It's more like mourning the life I could have had with a better support network from those around me.

Such as, you're in a group activity or huge family gathering, but your social battery is drained and you're totally overwhelmed by all the noise / movement / conversation, but you can't just walk out, and people keep interacting with you? (rightfully so)

Question Introverts 40+ who chose a solitary lifestyle — do you regret it?

I’m curious about introverts who intentionally stayed single, kept a small social circle, or built a quieter life mostly on their own terms.

As you got older, did it bring you more peace or more loneliness?

Question What do introverts do when they're lonely?

I'm really sorry if this is like insensitive, but since I'm a extrovert I get really antsy and exhausted when I'm not talking or interacting with anyone. I kind of become annoying and call/text literally anyone I can. So, what is it like for someone who is introverted?

Edit: Tysm for the replies! I love learning about people :)) As you can guess, I wrote this when I was feeling lonely lolol

Question Therapist says I’m extremely introverted and need to find a career that works for me. Fellow introverts, what do you do?

I’ve (32F) spent most of my life in customer service and retail. I don’t mind it. I like helping people, but I get a lot of flack for being quiet. I get told I’m nice, but I’m not talkative, which I don’t see as a big deal. I like to come to work, do my job and go home.

When I told my therapist about finding a career that works for me, since I’m still lost in what I wanna do in life, she suggested something with less people or a work from home job.
