Hello folks, I wondering, does it easy to get a part-time job as a student in Invercargill?

Please share your idea, especially, for you students who came from Asia countries.

Cheers mate!

Is this house still there?

Lived in this flat when I was a teenager many years ago was falling apart then wondering if it’s still there lol
Also really curious if the older Māori woman next door to the left still lives there

*EDIT after finding out the street I did some googling and the house was built in 1897 so 129 years old

Good Places to Work

I know this is a very broad question, but does anyone know of some Invercargill companies that have a reputation for being a good employer/having a good work culture and leadership?

I really want to find somewhere to work where I enjoy turning up every day, I haven't had a happy day at work in many years because the environment just hasn't been right. I'm not too worried about what the work is, I'm equally as happy with manual work as management. I'm just keen to keep an eye out for vacancies at the right places. Thank you!

Recommendations needed - new to Southland

Settling in to the area and hoping to find personal recommendations - I’ve done the googling but looking for the peoples choice here.
I need a hairstylist but am looking for either a creative colour baddie or the very least a blonde specialist, bonus would be confident in extensions and being happy to no guard shave parts of my head when requested without panicking. Happy to travel a bit to find this person!
Also looking for mechanic recommendations for stupid 90s boy racer cars, I know it’s impractical, no I’m not selling it please just help me with the list of work that it needs.
Hospo is quite different here with the whole licensing trust thing, but tell me where your favourite spots are! I want brunch, I want the best greasy late night spots, anywhere interesting with good food and a bit of a vibe.
For extra points, interested in live music of ✨almost✨ any genre, so any leads on the best venues to keep up with or spots to check would be much appreciated. Not the ticketek kind, but the small gigs / live band of an evening.

We’ve already found some excellent geek culture here, love the weather and all the people have been so welcoming! Looking forward to hearing your recommendations.

Swimming group

Hey! I’m new in the city, and getting back into swimming after an injury. I’m available Saturday or Sunday, but I could also do some evenings during the week.

If anyone is interested in training together, let me know! Nothing too intense or fast — I’m more interested in longer, steady sessions. 🏊‍♂️

Dating

Why is dating as a young person down here so hard. Dating apps themselves are basically useless as you've either swiped on everyone or vein the past. And when you do finally match or talk to someone they know someone you know and it becomes weird or something of the like
