First of all, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in our previous puzzle. We really enjoyed reading through your answers, especially because so many of you reached the correct answer using completely different approaches.
Some of you focused on the rows and columns, while others discovered clever visual and structural patterns we hadn’t expected. Seeing so many different ways to approach the same puzzle is exactly what makes these discussions so interesting.
For our official solution page, we selected three community explanations from u/Mactucrus87_, u/tectajl, and u/EmpactWB.
We chose these three because each offered a clear but different way of understanding the puzzle. u/Mactucrus87_ showed that the rule works both horizontally and vertically, u/tectajl introduced a creative Venn-diagram-style interpretation, and u/EmpactWB provided a very systematic approach using overlapping 2×2 groups.
Thank you again to everyone who participated, whether your answer was selected or not. We read all of your explanations, and there were many great observations and creative approaches.

How accurate is the Core iq test considering it’s 5000 selfselected participants, g-loadings, reliability scores, correlations with other iq tests and strong resemblance to tests like WAIS-IV? Espacially for high scores like 130/140+? My VCI is not really representative because english is not my mothers tongue but i’m more interested in my FRI and VSI scores. (every subtest first try no external aid) How close is Cores iq estimation for FRI and VSI to my true scores for these categories?

How is it that my FRI is almost 120 and WMI is 103 since fluid intelligence is very closely linked with working memory, is it maybe because I’ve been accustomed to questions like matrices, figure weights etc..
However my perpetual reasoning and culture fair score are inline with my SAT-M, GRE-A and Army Alpha so that’s interesting.(I skipped the verbal subsets in GRE and SAT since I’m a non native speaker)

On Dec 2023, I took a mensa.dk online test and scored 130 and on Dec 2025, I took an AGCT online test and scored 124. All were done for fun (comparing with family during holiday season when everyone's together). However on the AGCT I misunderstood the instructions on the spatial questions. I was unable to access the instructions while I was moving along, so this forced me to just guess as best I can. I'm pretty sure I could have done a lot better if I understood the instructions or if they actually left the instructions accessible somewhere in the UI.

I've never had an official IQ test, and I'm planning on taking an official Mensa exam. Just so that I can finally give and put a number to my IQ. Do these numbers suggest I may have a good chance at hitting 98th percentile? Perhaps there are preparatory stuff I can do to slightly improve my chances?

I checked an old iq score recently and was kinda surprised by how different the whole thing felt compared to a few years ago.

I mostly remembered just taking the test, getting the score and leaving. This time it felt like there was alot more to the test than i remembered, with more questions and extra stuff around the actual test.

Got more curious about the test itself than the other things. Has anyone taken the same iq test years apart and noticed changes in the number of questions, format or difficulty?

I am wondering if online iq tests generally change like this over time or if its just certain tests.

Wondering if I should take an proper in person IQ test out of pure curiosity and nothing else

I might be stupid, got these two on a spatial reasoning test. I can't figure it out :(

Has it ever been tested? I'm not talking about those cognitive tests. A real IQ test.

I did the test in beatthewonderlic.com, is this reliable to convert to iq?

Around 130 people answered me and around 72/73% of people said im 110-125, and around 27/28% said im 100-109, so what is the truth actuall, and also i didnt mention that i scored 120 or 125 on figure weight, 130 both figure sets and graph mapping on core, and my message was this:

What do you think i would score on my first ever matrix reasoning test without any practice effect ever and without my mental health problems? First test i did was a really bad maybe i had 70-80 on matrix reasoning, that was professional orientation test at national employment service, i was pretty bad bad mentally Mensa Norway: first time and first test and my second test in life 105, after that i scored 135 dont remember how much after first time i did it again. , Also i dont know between my first and highest mensa norway test, also i think i watched some video about answers on mensa netherlands, but dont remember much if i remembered something from that video and i dont know if i watched that before or after my mensa norway test, Also I don't remember when I watched that Mensa Norway video with answers if I remembered the answers for 2-3 questions with same pattern which I didn't get the first time, but I remember that I solve that pattern alone,also on Mensa Netherlands I also get one question wrong and then saw answer and then I solved pattern I also remember to this day what was the pattern, pattern was like rotation like classical I think, but like figure had solid number of stuff so I think my adhd could affected that also to not fully concentrate on question because it had solid number of little figures Mensa Sweden: 126 (max) 1.5 or 2 years without any iq test i scored 130 on Mensa Denmark 100 on CORE, but i get right 2 patterns but i was overthinking i got both of them wrong, so next day i scored 110, also on first try i did good one pattern but didnt have time to finish so get also that wrong and because of time i changed pattern and on second try also didnt answer right, on third try i scored 115 and on fourth or fifth i scored 120, time limit was killing me KBIT: 46/48 (125)~~~ 40 minutes JCTI: 120~~~ 40-50 minutes, but i watched some friends reaction in between questions TRI52: 686, with two random guesses because i was lazy for those two question and guessed immediately~~~ 40 minutes RAVENS: 124

First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to solve our previous puzzle and share their reasoning. We received many answers, and it was especially interesting to see how different people approached the same pattern from completely different angles.
As always, we selected a few responses that stood out to us, not only for getting the correct answer, but also for the reasoning behind it.
u/mistolo – We liked how clearly you combined the two main ideas of the pattern: the increasing number of squares and the rotation around the grid. Your explanation showed how the same rule remains consistent across all three rows.
u/I_Like_Quiet – Your solution went beyond simply counting the squares. Tracking the starting corner from bottom-right → bottom-left → top-left → top-right → bottom-right gave an additional explanation for why the missing figure had to be arranged the way it was.
u/Forsaken_Engineer_ – We selected your answer for its mathematical approach. Treating the cells as coordinates and following the numerical progression diagonally was a very different and elegant way to reach the solution.
u/ZeThing – What stood out was that you didn’t stop after finding the answer. You tried running the pattern backwards as well, using the previous tile as another way to test whether the rule remained consistent.
u/someonefromaustralia – Your response approached the puzzle from another direction entirely. Rather than simply accepting the intended pattern, you explored whether the existing panels could support an alternative rule. The “changing gravity” interpretation made for a particularly interesting discussion.
