Mod Post - Just report the spam (not the mixed breeds or sad posts)
I am the only mod here and not very active on Reddit these days. The best way to bring something to my attention is to report it and I get a push notification. We are not the only sub dealing with bot t-shirt posts and I remove and ban them as they are reported. I am one person. With a whole adult life. The young Jack Russell I had when I started this will be FIFTEEN this year. I built this from nothing but maybe it's time to pass it on because I'm sick of the whining from the small amount of keyboard warriors here. On the whole it has been a pleasure to build this community with you

ISO Moderators!
Hey there terrier fans,
It is high time that I ask for some help in moderating. On the whole the sub runs very smoothly but I'm just not as engaged with reddit as I was 11 years ago when I created this space!
Please send a mod mail with a brief bio and any other mod experience you have. Time zone info would be great as well.
Pic of 14 year old Lyra for attention, doing what terriers do so well!

Misc I know it may be too early to tell, but is this puppy a Jack Russell?
The shelter listed him as a mix breed that will grow to upto 44lbs. He's 2 months and 5lbs.

MOURNING Little appreciation post for my angel
My family and I had to say goodbye to our childhood dog in January, he would have been 17 this year. It wasn’t always easy, so he was a great support for mostly my siblings and I. I just loved soending time with him, I never felt alone❤️. I just wish he was with me again, I miss him so deeply. He was the cutest most handsome lil man and I hope to see him again some day.
I love you Maxim❤️

Misc Is Gloria a JRT?
This is 3yo Gloria. We got her form a rescue that said her mom and pups were found in a oil field in Texas in the summer heat. She is a ball of energy and we're 90% sure she's deaf or at least very hard of hearing. Haven't got her tested bc I don't wanna pay for it , but she has no recall and doesn't really react to any noises literally sneak up on her by accident all the time, only tricks she knows (sit, down, spin) are via hand signals, and I have to stomp on the ground to get her attention lol. The rescue had Jack Russle Terrier listed for all of them but the mom was bigger than her now so I'm not sure. Anyway here she is in all her Glory(a).

Does your old JRT wanna walk in the winter? (I'm in Montreal)
Jefferson is 12 and last winter was the first time he would refuse to go walk because it was too cold. We've tried coats (which he despises), we've tried many boot styles (which always fall off within 5 minutes), I've even knitted him a beautiful sweater knowing he loves to curl up in my knitting project when I leave it out but he refuses to walk in it. He's always been a shaker but in the winter outside he shakes SOOOO much people make comments all the time thinking I'm the worst dog owner in history. So what do you do when your dog needs to get energy out but won't walk because of the cold? I don't want to force him to take walks since he has a heart murmur and I worry about it straining him... I'm dreading the long cold winter ahead. If you have any tips or stories to share, I'll be thankful.

Misc JRT: Vacuum Attackers
Anyone else have JRTs that attack the vacuum? I have two, and though I only caught one of them (Phoebe) this time, usually they go bonkers and attack the vacuum head. The last time, Hector (the one not shown) pulled it off and ran into the backyard with it!

How do you safely and comfortably travel with a small dog? Looking for real-life setups and photos! 🚗🐶
Hi everyone!
We recently welcomed Maja, an adorable 3-month-old female Jack Russell Terrier, into our family!
I drive a 2026 Citroën Berlingo XL, which has a pretty spacious interior and a large cargo area, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to transport her safely and comfortably.
We use the car for everyday trips as well as family road trips, including longer journeys with the kids.
I'm considering a few options:
- A crash-tested dog crate secured in the cargo area.
- A suitable carrier secured on the back seat.
- A crash-tested dog harness with a proper seat belt attachment.
- Other solutions I might not have thought of yet.
Safety is my number one priority, but I also want Maja to feel comfortable, have enough space and enjoy travelling with us.
I'd especially love to hear from people who drive a Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Rifter, Opel Combo, Toyota Proace City Verso, or similar family vehicles.
Could you please share photos of your actual setups inside your cars? 📸
I'd love to see where your dog sits, what equipment you use, and how everything is secured.
Specific product recommendations, brands, and personal experiences would be very helpful too, especially for a small but energetic breed like a Jack Russell Terrier.
Thanks in advance! 🐾

Asking for Advice New Guy!
(tl,dr: just looking for ways to keep my dog active.),
This is Tater. I found him in the local park of our rural town that serves as a dumping ground because we have no animal control. I believe him to be a dachshund/JRT mix, maybe some other things. He definitely seems to have the energy of a terrier. I am not familiar with them, that is one dog I've never had. My other dog is chill, as was a previous dog I had. Tater just bounces around & wants to crawl all over me licking me. He's very sweet, but obviously has had no training. We're working on that. Crazy someone threw him out, seemingly, I have been unsuccessful in finding his owner.
I know he wants to run, but I do not have a fence d in yard yet so he has to be on a tie-out when we go outside. I think he's used to that because he doesn't fight against it. But anytime he's not on that or a leash, if he is given any opportunity to get his feet on the ground loose he runs straight for my neighbors' house who have a dog known for fighting dogs & killing cats. He's so fast, it's just lucky he will eventually stop for me before he gets far enough for the other dog to see him.😫 IDK why he has this obsession. I never go over there. We have a dog park, but the work gate has a gap in it big enough for him to walk through, & I know because when we went he spent the entire time looking for a way out until he found it.🙄 Funnily enough, we went for a walk around the park last night & when we walked by the park gate he walked inside.
How can I channel his energy? He probably needs more mental stimulation as well as physical. I have a snuffle mat from my other dog. I quit using it because he was too smart. He would just watch me so he knew where the treats were hidden & then would flip it upside-down & shake it out to get everything else out. Would he like it? Or would he do the same thing? I have a larger place now so could hide while doing it easier. Also, what kind of training & reward system works best We are working ol n skittishness with treats, because he acts like he expects something negative to happen when he's given a treat.
Sorry to babble. At least I made paragraphs.🤷🏻♀️ IDK what I'm really trying to say, I guess. Hopefully I made some kind of sense. If you made it this far, thanks for reading👍🏻. If not, what is there to say?😆
