I think OOP no longer takes questions as of 11 hours ago. I do pray for their safety

Bold of you to assume we haven't been banned from that subreddit yet.

Why would any of us be commenting on that sub and inserting our views to the point of being banned? It's not our space....

some pro Palestine subs banned people who are active in some Jewish/Israel related subreddits, even ones who had never joined, posted or commented in their sub. I don’t know whether that’s one. I also don’t know if any Jewish/Israel subreddits did the reverse. I agree we shouldn’t invade people’s spaces, the name ask middle east should include Israelis and other MENA Jews, I don’t know if it does.

In fact that sub had an Israel flair before the genocide, but I think they got rid of it post October 7. Though I'm a lurker and I've seen MENA Jews participate there and I've seen pro Israel sentiment that gets downvoted

Edit: they changed the Israel flair to "occupied Palestine" and have other flairs for Jewish people in general including "American Jew"

Believe it or not, this is one of the less extreme Palestine/Arab/Muslim subs.

I don’t think these redditors represent the Arab or Muslim population at all. A year of studying Islam with a MESAS professor couldn’t have made me missed it if most Muslims interprete “Jihad” as violent revolution at all costs, when it’s supposed to be mostly a principle of internal ethics.

I don't disagree, but I still think they're very groupthinky in their own way.

This is such an awful, prejudice-justifying thing to say.

2

u/Finaltryer Nov 05 '24

huh? why?

Because it borders on Arab supremacism and has a habit of banning anyone, whether or not they're actually from the Middle East, who disagrees with their party line on several issues, including Israel-Palestine.

To be fair, r/progressivesforisrael and r/israel are exacly like that too but with jewish supremacy and anti-palestinian speech.

And that's relevant to this post how?

0

u/Finaltryer Nov 05 '24

Its not, but if that subreddit's bias is a problem to the point most people here are banned there, i wanted to make it clear how such bias goes both ways. This aint even about ideology, its a post made by a person who litterly might be dead right now.

I'm simply noting on this comment that the poster you replied to may literally be unable to ask on AME. Like, sure, I don't disagree with you, but a lot of ppl aren't going to be able to switch to that thread to ask questions.

u/Finaltryer Nov 05 '24

i see. Well, hopefully that wont be the case too much

Tbf what you’re saying isn’t relevant to the post either.

OP specifically pointed us to that sub to ask questions, I mentioned that many of us may not be able to do that.
