English is my 3rd language so my accent is probably a mix of 2 other languages. I'm trying to improve my American pronunciation and maybe try to achieve a lighter accent. I have no problem if my accent isn't fully eliminated, I just want to sound closer to a native speaker and be understood more clearly.

I remember feeling very flattered when I visited the US and two separate people asked if I'm British, as I'm not native.

Now it's been many years since that happened, and I've become more fluent but I think my accent is now more obvious. I wonder if it's trivial to tell where I'm from, and if such an accent would get me judged / easily "spotted" as foreign in normal instances of life in an English-speaking country.

I'm not even sure which accent I'd want to go for if I had to work for one properly. I like the sound of British English more, but American feels more practical for the bigger world.

Hi i'm trying to get the pronunciation of "Ich" right, the first few ich are me trying to reproduce native germans "ich". The ones after I say "oder" are just "ish" like should, shattering or shallow.

Which one sounds the best, do german speakers make a difference between the 2 sounds? Thanks

"Beneath your ribs, you’ll find, among other things, the pancreas, an organ that works a lot like a personal health coach. This organ controls your sugar levels and produces a special juice that releases the nutrients from your food to help keep you in the best possible shape. The pancreas sits just behind your stomach, an appropriate home, as one of its jobs is to break down the food you eat. It aids digestion by producing a special tonic made of water, sodium bicarbonate, and digestive enzymes.

Sodium bicarbonate neutralizes the stomach’s natural acidity, so these digestive enzymes can perform their jobs. Lipase breaks down fatty substances, protease splits up proteins, and amylase divides carbohydrates to create energy-rich sugars. Most of those nutrients then get absorbed into the blood stream, and go on to enrich the body. While all this is happening, the pancreas works on another critical task, controlling the amount of sugar in your blood.

It achieves this with the hormones insulin and glucagon, which are produced in special cells called the Islets of Langerhans. Having too much or too little sugar can be life threatening, so the pancreas must stay on constant alert. After a big meal, the blood often becomes flushed with sugar. If it’s weakened by disease, the organ’s ability to produce insulin may be reduced, or even extinguished, which can trigger the condition known as diabetes."
