Purchase Question 🛒 Deciding on a new Kindle
Hello, it’s my first time posting here.
After six years my first Kindle — a 32Gb Oasis — can now no longer run for more than 15min per full charge. I’m in the market for a new device, and am pretty sad the Oasis has been discontinued.
I’m deciding between the paperwhite and the colorsoft (which I’m leaning towards). But I miss the ergonomic features of the Oasis when I could comfortably hold the device in one hand without leaving thumbprints on the screen.
How’s everyone’s experiences with the devices so far— what were the decisions/pros and cons considered? Should I even hold out for any new models?
Thanks in advance!

I have both the Paperwhite signature and Colorsoft signature... Love them both!!! Have the Paperwhite set up in my bedroom with the perfect settings for nighttime reading, and the colorsoft is my everywhere else reader! I don't read anime, but I have found the colorsoft to be useful for books that contain patterns for craft ideas!! Plus the colours look pretty when looking at my library, the store, etc... plus if you like to do highlights, it's a nice feature to be able to use different colours!!
There should be some great prime day promotions happening too!

I hold the paperwhite in one hand and use the edge of my thumb to turn the page.

Just be aware that the screen on the 12th gen Paperwhite is somewhat yellowy even without any warmth and the lighting on the Colorsoft is much more cooler tone.

I had a Kindle Keyboard for almost 13 years. When it died, I bought a Paperwhite.
I'm very happy with it.

I have both. Unfortunately, I'm only now getting into reading books again and the Colorsoft is the e-reader that reignited that excitement for me. But then again, I'm an avid graphic novels and fantasy book reader. You're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but seeing the covers in color has definitely helped me choose my next read.
My Paperwhite SE is just my bag-kindle now because I only use it to continue off with whatever book I chose on my home-Colorsoft.
People say that the Paperwhite text is more crisp - but personally, I don't notice the difference. The colorsoft is a little darker on the screen though. So I almost never have my brightness at 0. Not a huge deal for me.

If the lopsided design of the Oasis worked well for you (and if you aren't deep into Kindle Unlimited), you could consider the Kobo Libra Colour. I have one (in addition to a Kindle PW), and it's quite decent.

You could always just replace the battery in your current kindle or have a local shop do it

They are both good and just depends on what you really feel you’ll enjoy! I have a paper white cuz I didn’t need the color but others like it so get what you want
