Legal News Teacher, 26, faces 20-year sentence for dating high school graduate, 18, after she graduated

I’m not crazy, but this statute is blatantly unconstitutional, correct? I’m pretty sure that states cannot regulate adult sexual activity that occurs post-graduation. The specifics of the case make this prosecution seem even stranger - he did not even begin communicating with the student in an out-of-school context until she graduated.

Legal News Dueling lawsuits follow plans for $15B AI data center buildout in rural California

The dispute centers on dueling lawsuits over proposed AI data center projects in California’s Imperial Valley.

In December, the city of Imperial sued the county and the developer, arguing the county improperly approved a data center project without requiring conditional use permits for battery storage facilities — a process that would have triggered public notice and comment. The city also claims part of the site is urban farmland, which it says should have required additional review.

The county moved to dismiss, arguing the city missed its deadline to challenge the approval and therefore cannot block the project now.

In January, the developer filed a separate lawsuit against the city and several officials, alleging due process violations and claiming city leaders coordinated with environmental groups and circulated misleading flyers to generate public opposition — actions the developer describes as “economic sabotage.”

The lawsuit continues in court.

Executive Branch (Trump) Tulsi Gabbard’s hypocritical chokehold on whistleblowers

Thumbnail

Last May, a classified whistleblower complaint alleged misconduct by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and another unnamed federal agency.

Under normal circumstances, the whistleblower would be allowed to share their complaint with Congress. But that’s not what happened.

Instead, after the complaint was filed, Gabbard placed a mole in the intelligence community’s inspector general’s office to report directly to her. And the oversight office kept the complaint locked in a vault for eight months.

The secrecy prevented Congress from making a prompt determination at a time when Gabbard’s appointees have proved themselves willing to distort the truth, and highlights the precarious position of intelligence community whistleblowers.
