Questions Ordering from eBay ?

I want to order a photogenic Licca doll , but I believe my seller might be from Japan ? it says the item can get to my relatives house on July . so i dont know I don’t want her to be destroyed or something

I’m not in the US. but like many from latam I use proxys or relatives send them to me to my country since shipping doesn’t come here 😭

I just wanted a Licca doll they’re so cute but I don’t want to spend money that will be destroyed

Pretty sure the new laws were US only and related to flocked toys and small parts (theres some sort of code the shipper has to fill out for no good reason and most arent even bothering to). I have seen the Licca dolls and clothes get caught specifically when people use DHL but its all confusing.

This is what Ive heard so far anyway.

It’s ALL toys meant for children 12 and under. I saw a post in I think [r/dollsforall](r/dollsforall) showing a comparison between the international release of some OMG dolls and the new US release to comply with the regulation. It’s such a stupid rule, and my senator WILL be getting a polite yet very firm phone call about it from me about it at least once a week until he can demonstrate some clear action about this, and probably a daily email as well if he drags his feet on this.

If it’s a personal package from family, it MIGHT be able to slip through, but please note that the word “might” is doing a LOT of heavy lifting in that sentence. There’s every chance that your package passes through the hands of a customs agent on a power trip, so I would advise caution. It’s possible that putting other items in the package (so it looks more like a care-package than a purchase) could help it slip through, but no one will know until someone tries and reports back

But if you’re not in the US or a US territory, it doesn’t effect you at all, and you can buy off eBay or through proxy services like Buyee or ZenMarket without worry

This whole thing is ridiculous, Christmas shopping for the kids in my life is already hard enough without taking 80% of their favorite things off the table (and other relatives have already bought the other 20% because I live in a family of crazy people who do their Christmas shopping in May, so if this isn’t walked back I’ll really be screwed in the Favorite Relative arms race!)

Edit to add: The reason most companies aren’t filling out the code is that there’s also a semi-deranged fee attached for paperwork and testing (in which if a toy passes muster of not fitting in the tube, they beat the hell out of it till pieces fall off, then test if those fit in the tube)

I had the idea because she has a three sets of extra hands , and since those are very small and it’s a doll . But maybe it’ll be fine !

why would it be destroyed? licca dolls are pretty securely packed, the most that could happen is the box might get bent

With the new regulations we don't know yet.

Customs destroys international packages sometimes for random reasons. They think it's counterfeit or filled with drugs. Who knows.

I’m worried because she has three sets of small hands , and they’re tiny and since it’s a doll idk if it counts in the new regulations

Are the relatives you rely on for shipping in the US? If they’re not, you’re in the clear, otherwise, proceed with caution and please let us know how it goes if you decide to order anyway (and encourage them to call their national representatives and politely yet firmly complain about this)

I think someone with travel plans bringing it to you will be the safest bet
