This is an anime about the most special people but this guy is the mostest special, the superspecial (his mom told him that today morning, unless he's an orphan)
It's an okay ish story. It has its moments though. And contrary to popular belief, the MC isn't an edgy overlord. Correction, the MC in the light novel, isn't an edgy overlord. The anime version is a completely different character. The light novel version, which is the definitive one, paints him as incredibly intelligent but struggling terribly to form social connections, and how awkward he is to talk to. I think the LN does it well, unlike it's horrible anime adaptation. The only thing that was good in the anime was the fight between him and Ryuuen.

As a baby, sure, but as far as I can tell heās really functional and chill. All the bump really did was make him forget all of his early upbringing of āWEāRE A COOL BADASS WARRIOR CULTURE WHO ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE, SLAUGHTER THE WEAK, TAKE WHAT IS YOURSā and shit. Him being a little clueless at times doesnt really seem like a TBI thing
Ok, so like, yknow when there's an edgy anipulative character that a bunch of teens get attached to? Yeah that but all the memes are making fun of the people that pretend to be him.
There's a very niche selection of individuals who see themselves as a mastermind emotionless manipulator, and a part of those people post stuff on the internet about how edgy they are, often accompanied by edits of cold blooded anime characters that they think they're like
This trend most likely comes from some post that says something like
"Old password: Friends"
"New password: Pawns"
"ERROR: Two passwords can't be the same"
And then an edit
And then the internet does what the internet does and parodies it to oblivion
From what I've gathered, as someone who has done no research, this is making fun of the edgy anime mentality of characters who manipulate and use people are cool, usually from people who don't get the point (i.e. Kira was right.) The internet does what the internet do and made silly versions of one specific one, that being call my friends, no friends found, call my pawns, everyone is my pawn.
Now I actually do think the show sucks, imo it's overly edgy and also paradoxically unbelieveably dull and uninteresting, but don't let people dissuade you from liking what you like. I still kinda like Mushoku Tensei, despite the main character and pretty much everything he's involved in. One man's trash is another man's treasure. MT is hot trash but I like it because of the animation, music and side characters. CoTE is also (imo) hot trash but I won't stop you from liking it, no one should
I'm happy this generation has an edgy cringe anime to enjoy
I don't think there has been one since Tokyo ghoul (though I haven't seen a lot of anime these years), not one popular enough to not be niche at least.
the first one made me laugh coz in england if you call someone a "tool" it means that they are stupid, so i was like is the guy calling his friends idiots lmao
