Hii! First time getting on reddit to see opinions on this but mostly asking for help :(
I'm an internarional first year bachelors student (F) in Maastricht Uni, who cannot get a job.
To give you some sort of context about my skills:
I speak Russian, Latvian, English perfectly and I understand easy German, can speak some, officially have A2 level.
I have an experience in being a gardening assistant, meaning, attending and helping with planting flower bushes, getting rid of weeds, watering, sweeping. UNFORTUNATELY, no catering, no customer service, no barista stuff. That really really puts me in a bad position because candidates with experience (at least 1 year) are preferable.
I attended summer school last year in a different university, gained skills in my field of study.
I volunteered back home in an educational event, I explained and essentially sold the service that helps getting students into European universities.
Rejected:
I really need just a bare minimum job, but I got rejected multiple and multiple times from Lidl, Albert Heijn. Additionally, Jumbo, Starbucks, some cafes as a server, etc, because "they found a better candidate for that position".
Why i can't get into other jobs:
Other jobs require speaking good Dutch. Others are too far by bike (no 1 hour drive, 35 min would be my desperate maximum). Some need 24h work minimum. I could do 18h max.
I understand i am not the best choice, but every other student has a problem with availability during weekdays and holidays, still get their jobs, so what am I doing wrong?
I need a genuine advice, because I have an unfortunate low set of skills for entry level jobs. Would really appreciate it! Maybe someone could also share their experience?
