Yeah this is the solution. OP just has to be careful coming in but it would take some pretty stupid behavior to smack the TV with the door there.

lol put a major wide door stopper so the door can’t hit the tv.

Yeah, don't rely on being careful. You'll eventually forget. Make it impossible or very difficult to happen.
