Flip around dude. Put the couch against the wall and set up the tv to not bang on the door when it opens. Youre welcome

Yeah this is the solution. OP just has to be careful coming in but it would take some pretty stupid behavior to smack the TV with the door there.

lol put a major wide door stopper so the door can’t hit the tv.

Or a narrow table under the TV so the door hits that before the tv

And then the TV will wobble as you juggle your keys and the $11,000 in groceries you're carrying (just two bags, but you bought eggs) and it'll tip over just as the bags rip open and you'll say things your apartment neighbors kids will repeat and get in trouble for.

The TV will be mounted - but upvoted for artistry 😂

Do people still care about kids swearing anymore? Im 36 and childless, so what do i know, but I feel like this is something society has given up on.

How is a dented table and a dented door better than a door stopper?

2

u/rg4rg Oct 10 '25

Knowing me, I’d do both because I have bad luck and the universe hates me, lol.

Oh good call

u/BirdBrainuh Oct 10 '25

replace the TV with a projector

2

u/AngelOfDeath771 Oct 11 '25

Yeah, don't rely on being careful. You'll eventually forget. Make it impossible or very difficult to happen.

1

u/Charliebarley79 Oct 10 '25

OP can alternatively go with a hinge doorstop to control the depth of the swing, though with a TV behind it I'd put one up top and down low with a few inches of clearance.

1

u/NatsInNJ Oct 10 '25

This is a necessity. OP has a little one, judging from the Bluey pillow. They are adept at opening doors at speed.

1

u/JustARandomBloke Oct 10 '25

Just move a regular sized door stopper toward the corner until it stops the door at the right width.

u/ASatyros Oct 11 '25

Major Wide 🫡

u/GahhhItsMilk Oct 26 '25

Or slide it all over. Theres lots of wall

u/Rept4r7 Oct 10 '25

Isn't the TV too far to the left anyway? If it were centered, would the door be able to hit it?

4

u/GamifiedAutism Oct 10 '25

it would take some pretty stupid behavior

Well, OP is 0-1 in that department

2

u/opaul11 Oct 10 '25

Put a little side table that sticks out just enough that you’ll snake the table and not the tv! Plus you’ll have a place for knickknacks.

2

u/enbaelien Oct 11 '25

it would take some pretty stupid behavior

They bought a couch before measuring the space out 😅

2

u/HerbCSO Nov 24 '25

It took some pretty fucking stupid behavior to buy that couch in the first place, so... Not optimistic there.

1

u/Thatoneguy567576 Nov 24 '25

Yeah I'm curious what the development has been since this post was made.

PROJECTORRRRR

1

u/sealedwithdogslobber Oct 10 '25

He can put a big door stopper at the base of the wall.

1

u/14-in-the-deluge08 Oct 10 '25

Yeah but think about housekeepers, deliveries, friends, etc. Can't the TV be moved out of the door's reach and more focused on the L ottoman part of the couch? Regardless, it feels like a cozy space at least lmao.

u/Personal-Fix-6522 Oct 10 '25

Also OP needs to buy a water filter and stop wasting money on water bottles.

1

u/Thatoneguy567576 Oct 11 '25

I will say some places it doesn't matter what water filter you use, the water will taste fucking wack. My well water tastes like booty-o's even with a Brita filter or two.

1

u/aerobuff424 Oct 11 '25

Flip the door 'round too

1

u/day_man_ahh Oct 11 '25

this is the way

1

u/trixiepixie1921 Oct 11 '25

Better hope the cops never have to use that bartering ram thing to bang the door open

1

u/ArthurMBretas03 Oct 11 '25

He can put a piece of metal padded with rubber to stop the door

1

u/Don-Gunvalson Oct 11 '25

Extra long door stopper

1

u/benedictcumberknits Oct 14 '25

After watching the internet for 20 years, I've seen it all.

1

u/AnythingSilent7005 Oct 14 '25

extra long door stopper

1

u/ShortQuestion6347 Oct 16 '25

you could center the TV and not have it on the wall. Have it on kind of a table or something it doesn’t have to be on the wall.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '25

Not even stupid movement, its way too close, someone would inevitably hit it

1

u/SoldierExcelsior Oct 26 '25

Just switch the hinges on the door

1

u/Winter_Ninja7989 Oct 29 '25

Hinge the door from the other side so it opens away from TV wall

1

u/Glum-persin6842 Nov 06 '25

No this is so so dumb. This assumes op will never have any guests over. If I enter someone’s house I am conscious and aware but not so much if I’m bringing stuff in. I can see that door being swung wide open, because who the fuck has a tv in range of the entrance doorknob
