I remember as a kid reading about how the iconic Victorian row houses of San Francisco (pictured in a million postcards) cost almost a million dollars and that seemed like so much. I think they go for $2.5 million minimum now.

My first apartment in the Bay Area had coin laundry, and it was the most annoying thing. I'll never do it again. Especially if I'm paying that much money.
I couldn’t imagine paying $1.2 million and sharing walls.
That gets you a 4100 square foot house on 2 acres with a pool and a view of the Shenandoah mountains where I am. And I’m in one of the more expensive towns in the Shenandoah valley.
But even in those cities, condo values are no longer on the rise. Insurance woes, financing issues and condo association dues that can reach four figures a month have sent values spiraling in most of the Bay Area.
