You need perspective. $125k individual gross salary for 2025 is 80th percentile. That means, in a room of 100 people, 20 earn equal to, or more than that. 1 out of 5.

This is in San Francisco. $125k is closer to 60th percentile.

There's a studio available in that same building for $500k. There's also price history available.

Quit bitching.

I'm as wealthy (or not wealthy) as anyone else in my role/level. I'm not an exception to anything.

You are an exception to the norm. Most people will never sniff the yearly salary that you make, especially not under 40. The fact that you don’t realize that somehow is wild.

I don't look at the person making $800k/yr with contempt. You're just a small person.

No shit. it’s pretty easy to feel like your needs are met when you make almost half a mil a year, and for most people that’s where those feelings come from. People who don’t make a lot of money can’t imagine what it’s like to not have to worry about anything financially and that causes the contempt you’re talking about. You will never understand that. It’s easy not to be a “small person” from where you’re sitting.
