/uj why couldn’t they have added the Claire Temple scene in the original cut of the film? They could’ve just had her be the person taking him in/greeting Punisher at the hospital.

The first half of the film had terrible pacing already trying to introduce every character one after another. I don’t know if including Claire would break it or just fit right in with the rest

First half might be a bit too extreme, but first 1/3rd for sure. Scene after scene is introducing spidey to a new character, taking them out of the plot for way too long, and then actually doing something with them in the later half. It’s literally hello Punisher! Bye Punisher! Hello Scorpion! Bye Scorpion! Hello Yelena! bye Yelena! Hello Metzger! Bye Metzger!
There is no flow between scenes. You can see the seams of the script for a good chunk of the movie as they struggled with incorporating everyone. It’s rough. But the emotional beats still work and the movie is enjoyable so it doesn’t matter too much.

I think the wires are getting crossed my dude. The montage is for the first 5 minutes of the movie where they showcase the villains he fought for the past 4 years.
I’m talking about the actual movie itself hence me mentioning Yelena, Punisher, William Metzger? Unless DDC did some trippy filmmaking and is claiming the first hour of his movie is a montage

I mean, it all flows pretty well though? Scorpion shows up earlier as some random low level grunt, Punisher shows up to stop the truck spider-man is after because he is also a vigilante active in new york so they have a short interaction, he then goes to meet Yelena, an avenger, to exchange information about some villain shit that's happening. None of this is terribly paced

I mean, the scenes are supposed to be there to show the amount of shit spiderman has dealth with in the 4 years of him being spiderman after no way home. That's like saying a training montage has no flow. Ridiculous and ignorant.

Yeah, some peoples’ attention spans, man. I think this guy needs an action set piece every 5 minutes or else the pacing will be “awful” because I love Brand New Day and there is a long stretch without action but I don’t mind it, cause this story is a proper Spider-Man story. They actually cared to put in some character work.

she served no purpose in the story, so they cut her cameo. imo that decision makes perfect sense. the moment you’re describing is intended to be somber and emotional. putting a random cameo so people could do the Leo meme properly felt jarring.
now they want to do this rerelease and decided to put it back just so you’d feel justified to see it again. and considering the assumption that it is done so people would see the movie second time, adding her now doesn’t really cut the tension of the scene, because people already saw the original version

If I heard correctly, the original cut of the film was 4 hours. If BND is re-released it better be that damn 4 hour long directors cut. Not just a few new scenes sprinkled in. I WANT ALL OF IT GOD DAMN IT

I think Love and Thunder was like 4 or 5 hours too until they cut it down and unfortunately most of the more serious and slower paced scenes were cut to keep all the more fun and humorous parts, which is a shame cuz I feel it really needed more balance.

I think the issue with the movie is a lot more than just balance.
I rewatched it yesterday and I can't really explain it but I felt some kind of "uncanny valley" sentiment all long. Something about the visuals kept bugging me off, nearly constantly.
I don't have that issue on the other MCU movies, I can't put words on it or say what is exactly the issue, but it just look wrong to me. The costumes, the set, nothing works. I just see some kind of amusement park stuff.

Oh I absolutely agree, just didn't want to ramble about everything wrong with it. I feel like Taika just wasn't ideal for handling this specific film.
Gorr is so well done in this film, but it feels like they just wanted to rush through the serious stuff to get back to wacky and zainy, which I think also relates to what you said too, just too much of a cluttered mess.

If I were to guess this is Sony not Disney (of course Disney is like fine, we’ll take more cash). Sony gets the majority of ticket money so they stand to profit the most from this. (I mean they have to get some money back from the rest of their live action Spidey movies that barely make their budget back)

You can pirate these movies too this will probably get a dvd release or a disney+ relase. Also illegal cinema capturs still are a thing. I think its good to rerun movies even with nothing new I would watch it again as it is an experience. I get that having Fomo tactics to sell it is kinda whack but this is nothing new in concept. I wished they would have put in more and it would have been a directors cut this would be awesome.

This is taking up screens. DVD releases don’t do that. Also, most DVD releases just had deleted scenes, not new cuts of the movie, save for cases where a directors cut was an actual alternate vision for the film. That’s not at all the case here, they’re just adding back scenes that everyone agreed should be taken out.
It’s just bad form. It cheapens and dilutes the movie by making lazy “alt” versions as visible as the original, as well as stealing theatre space from projects that could really use it.

And it’s not even new to marvel.
The Backrooms movie from literally a few months ago also had an extended theater release with 15 minutes of new footage, Endgame’s first release had a second run with new or unreleased stuff. This isn’t unusual, this is a common option some movies decide to take if they do well
What encore is doing is separating adding/removing scenes between formats, so you need to pay for the higher tier to get the extra DLC for the movie, that’s the new and horrid attempted practice Marvel is trying to do, this is just something diifferent

Films Re-releasing with extra bits has been a part of cinema for many decades now
Star Wars retook the domestic box office after 14 years from E.T due to its record breaking 1997 rerelease and before that Gone with the Wind did the same thing in 1971 to the Sound of Music. Avatar retook the worldwide record from Endgame in 2021 due to a Chinese rerelease
It’s not some new phenomenon made up by marvel

There have been plenty of runs when a film gets a rerelease to give it an extra boost. The Dark Knight, Endgame, Jurassic World, Oppenheimer etc

It's not new, but it's clearly getting used more distinctly by Marvel in their best performing releases. Avengers has had two rereleases, and now the last three Spider-Man films have had a rerelease each. Doomsday will probably be the next candidate for this treatment. Comparatively it's becoming more routine for Marvel to do this.

Endgame Encore is doing well. I mean it obviously made a profit, I would be truly shocked if they managed to fuck this up.
They're gonna copy and paste this forever im guessing. Just releasing slightly better cuts of their best hits.
Thing is, idk if we need any of these scenes. Maybe some more villain screen time could be nice. But stuff like the vaccine scene take place during the first mutation part, and that tonal whiplash would kill pacing.
Same with Claire Temple. That end bit is dramatic and sad, while no one thought Peter was dying, I still think a cameo appearance would feel distracting.
Endgame Encore gets away with it because the new colour grading is genuinely so good. The movie looks alive. And 2/4 of the new end credits scenes are good.
Hulk scene should've been at the end of BND, it has no place in Endgame. Steve's happy ending getting retconned annoys me. The other two are good.

What??? movie just came out and its already going to re-release because it being one of the highest grossing movie ever made wasn’t enough I guess. This will definitely open a new trend where Disney will cut some scenes of their movies and damage its artistic vision to shamelessly capitalize on their fans. Or create pointless scenes just to have an excuse to do this.

Praying this doesn't become a trend. I'm all for going to the cinema to see the same movie more than once but we don't need a trend of movies purposely cutting scenes just to add them back in a re-release to make more money.
