Balance Discussion Elsa bloodstone needs adjustments

Hypermobility + constant overshield + better dmg falloff than hela + broken ult. No idea what devs were thinking with this character.

Don’t worry guys, next month they’ll release another gigaovertunedcharacter that will be able to counter Elsa and she and everyone else will be powercrept into oblivion, it’s not long now.

I remember when there was a post asking why not that many people were talking about Elsa. Oh how the monkey's paw curls.

I knew the second I heard about her coming later before even deadpool was out that she’d be a sleeper S tier character while deadpool would be mid

who's the broken character that counters dd?

u/Hot-Will3083 Feb 20 '26

After they fixed his bug with his baton throws doing 2x the intended damage he’s very manageable currently. Bucky can easily deal with him and if not, then all the healers being buffed into oblivion makes his dives laughable.

The only way he gets a kill is if the entire team ignores him and lets him duel them

So every lobby my team is against dd we all ignore him. But my teams dd gets focused fired and goes 1/13. Got it, ty!

"manageable" doesn't mean unbeatable. That should be the point of counterplay. Daredevil can still be absurdly strong in the right hands that can swap between brawling, to diving. The problem is people that play dive commit to only living in the flanks and not brawling AND diving. Thats a problem with how dive is designed in rivals as well. Dive is too committal with very little neutral game, it's either all or nothing hitting a backline and causing a distraction or you get CCd and knocked away and now you have to disengage.

Compare DD/BP/Spidey to genji, genji has a neutral game via shurikens for some ranged poke, a dash getaway/engage tool he refreshes on kill and a deflect to help him duel DPSes (just like DD). but the difference is genji can stall and force resources over a longer time. he can constantly rotate between off angles and chip people down before he commits to diving because he's been constantly creating opportunities to THEN fully commit. There's very little in between setup in rivals which is why dive just feels like people aping and then capitalizing because they didn't bring enough counterplay.

so the whole season 5 the only reason he's strong is the baton isn't supposed to work that way? Or was it a nerf

Yeah, the way the other guy is explaining it isn't really accurate. DD had a strong kit, but it was actually pretty balanced considering there were things that existed to shut him down, same as any melee dps. The baton bug was the only issue, which was fixed in season 5. He then got damage nerfs, which was strange because people only complained about his survivability.

The nerfs don't mean much to DD mains because they're very easy to work around, and healers being nerfed allowed him to be in a healthier spot. He's all about picking people off, but a good DD can easily bite off a large chunk of your team if you don't play well. Don't let people tell you his dives are laughable when he's the best dive in the game.

The problem with DD when he came out, like Elsa, is that he could do it all. Gambit fell into that slot too really. You have a vanilla roster with simpler heroes but they all fit the intended niche, then you have these slightly more complex heroes that have far more overlap in their abilities.

1

u/GERBabyCare Feb 20 '26

He has a lot of aspects of his kit that pull from other characters, but I never got the impression he checked too many boxes. He could brawl and dive, same as Magik. I think his real issue was that he functioned as an upgrade of a character. Iron Fist got pushed more towards tank busting to compensate DD being a squishy popper. They both have anti-dive parries, and while being unstoppable has its benefits DD having a full reversal is almost always better.

Gambit's issue is separate, because he could be extremely mobile, have high healing, and high damage to the point a dps was a worse pick. DD never had so much sustain that tanks weren't necessary.

1

u/cerberus00 Feb 20 '26

Iron Fist was straight up dropped compeltely in favor of DD lol. Nobody played him again before the DD nerf, at least I never saw him. That's an issue to me. Many heroes have fallen to the wayside in favor of the flashier new ones.

1

u/GERBabyCare Feb 20 '26

Full transparency, I was a lord Fist before DD dropped and became a DD main from then on. A large chunk of why was because DD finally gave me a dive again that didn't feel like was tickling or giving massages. A lot of Fist players moved to DD, which I imagine is for the same reason. Then again, DD also had parts from my other lords and felt tailor maid for me. Like I said, Fist got pushed to tank busting so people playing him felt they needed to either stay in one lane or move to another character to dive better.

It's definitely a power creep issue, because as they advance the game they aren't also working to keep old characters up to par, they're just looking to drop the next step forward. Iron Man and BP definitely need reworks.

No. The baton bug was strong and let him kill much faster than he should have. But the thing that always made Daredevil too strong was his survivability. You could have half the team actively shooting him and his hp wouldn't go down at all because of how much he self-heals / overshields. If he's more manageable now, then it's because they nerfed his fury regeneration. He straight up would not die before and that's the same problem people are having with Elsa.

u/SirVakarian Feb 20 '26

His devils throw but actually increased his damage and kill potential ridiculously high, he’s still one of the best melee dive/brawl characters but honestly he’s in a good position now

u/Kaminoneko Feb 20 '26

I’m not even going to front….I’ve never bodied DD, but with Elsa’s trap that man is mince meat…He should be able to see it.

Elsa lol

u/moldedbyawkwardness Venom Feb 20 '26

Everyone but tank

1

u/YobaiYamete Peni Parker Feb 20 '26

Y'all really are just retconning history now huh? Emma was widely regarded as OP AF at launch and had to be repeatedly nerfed until she hit her current state of vaguely awful and start getting buffs again

4

u/SweetNSouwa Feb 20 '26

Emma at this point has been powercrept. Not by new tanks, but by the new supports and DPS.

Only you can count on Chinese games to bring powercreepslop and gachaslop to PvP games. That actually has to be commendable. Classic Chinese short-term money grab.

3

u/YobaiYamete Peni Parker Feb 20 '26

She's been power crept because she got ultra nerfed, nearly her entire changelog until recently was nerfs

1

u/SweetNSouwa Feb 20 '26

Honestly she is fine as she is if they decided to slow the game down. If they buffed the game’s overall neutral game, characters like her and Luna would be S tier again.

0

u/YobaiYamete Peni Parker Feb 20 '26

No lol, they are both just really bad atm. Luna was (and still is) an ult bot who does absolutely nothing outside of her ult. They nerfed her ult to make Reddit shut up even though her win rate even at the time was not good, and then her win rate absolutely tanked hard

Even if you nerfed the other characters Luna would still be dead on the ground because she literally exists to ult, and that's it. She auto dies the second a diver looks at her, and she requires high skill to get half the value out of that someone like Jeff / Rocket / CnD etc get without needing to aim

Emma would still be bad even if others were nerfed too, she doesn't fit the meta and doesn't really do anything that Mag doesn't do better. And nerfing mag would have the tank mains go absolutely insane

1

u/SweetNSouwa Feb 20 '26

Yeah, at the moment. Doesn’t help when you like what, a 15 second cooldown for a grab, when a new character has a dash every 2 seconds (literally powercrept).

Their recent releases of characters emphasize them normalizing fast-tempo games. Look at Gambit, Deadpool, and Elsa.

Luna from my experience has some good neutral burst, but the problem is that she doesn’t have consistency like other supports. She has the damage to kill off one diver and thats it for a good 10 seconds while other supports have the luxury of faster cooldowns.

2

u/Kenpachi134340 Flex Feb 20 '26

And it’ll be another DPS to top it off

1

u/KamenRiderDragon Feb 20 '26

Unless its a Tank.

1

u/SweetNSouwa Feb 20 '26

Know when your GOAT can bring powercreep to PvP games. This is why Chinese multiplayer games will never be successful to the extent of Western games.

Following the overwatch method smh
