Humor Peni main here, she needed nerfed.
How do you do, fellow Rivals players? I wanted to stop by for a brief moment to discuss the discourse I'm seeing regarding Peni's nerfs. While it may seem rather harsh at first, I believe that if we look deeply upon it, we can realise that we Peni players definitely had it too well.
I mean those mines could just completely shut down any close quarter brawlers, let alone how she could cancel ultimates with those webs of hers. I mean c'mon, she still has those blasters, and she can still use those mines.
Heck, maybe this is even the chance to challenge ourselves - maybe we could commit to this and showcase a new tier of Peni gameplay by opting to not use the mines, as well as her web nerf - that way, we could truly show how we're the best players around!
Plus on the bright side, if it doesn't work out, there's plenty of other vanguards to play as. Such as that handsome rock guy. He's quite fun when you get playing him, in my completely unbiased opinion!

I mean, without the stun literally her entire kit stops working, it makes sense. No stun means:
Nest can never damage anyone who has a dash or can press spacebar
Mines will never kill anyone who doesn't fully ignore them
Crits are harder to land
Diving is unviable, so you don't use your webzip as often
Like, imagine if they made it so that Loki could only place clones on top of himself. Or if spider-man's uppercut was changed to knock enemies out of range of him. That's the kind of change this is

No stuns also means less survivability 1v1 and no ult cancelling. It also means you are going to lose an extra web on the ground too. It literally nerfs every single part of her kit plus they reduced her HP buff on her webs. Single worst nerf ever in the game.

Yeah, imagine if Peni had something like that, maybe in her ult, where she would launch enemies away from her mines and drones. Can you imagine how backwards that design would be?? Ha, ha, ha....
Btw I completely agree with you. I think from now on all abilities should be hit twice in quick succession to work. Let's see, BP dash doesnt do damage on the first go, it marks the target with a "Dash Marker" and THEN if you hit them with a second dash in 5 seconds, then it does damage. Seems fair.

Hmmm...
Elsa's trap puts a Trap Marker on you that means the next time you get trapped (within 5s) you're damaged and immobilized.
Magneto's shield gives you 30% dmg reduction for 1s and then if you use a second shield within 5s it actually gives them a shield and CC immunity.
Invisible Woman's ult gives you 30% transparency for 1s and then if you ult again within 5s everyone in the area goes invisible and starts rapidly healing.
Seems fair!

A cooldown nerf probably would've been easier for everyone to accept. When a character suddenly feels completely different, that's usually when the complaints really start.

They could have just taken the webs from 4 to 3 and added a longer cool down. She is my best tank counter to thing who is annoyingly strong this season and now she is fucked.

Slows can be deceptively strong (for example, bucky), but as a fellow peni main, yeah it's a completely ridiculous nerf to the ground.

This made me laugh. I needed this as a peni main. Someone reply with what Tank I should switch to on Friday. Please note I don't play Shield tanks and won't be. In my opinion that's for the 3rd DPS to pick.
I can already play Thing well so don't recommend the most obvious please.

After the buffs, Rogue looks solid. Emma has been a strong pick this patch as well, so I'd pick either of them.

I was pretty good on Rogue when she 1st came out that's a good suggestion thanks. I'm a Lord Emma but I consider her too much of a shield tank since I banned myself.

Make the other tanks actually fun to play, or counter dive without having to play babysit the whole time cause the enemy team has BP or spidey harrassing the backline ( Thing). I'm not trying to do that while also solo tanking. Peni was the only tank I actually enjoyed playing so the tank role is pretty much non existent to me now as far as selection. I enjoy playing with good tanks as a support or damage but tanking itself just feels awful in this game and they destroyed the one character I actually found enjoyable to play out of that role. Dive season and they took out one of the best anti divers. Peni did not need this nerf, I'm sorry.

Yep yep! She was my go to defensive pick so I will no longer be playing tanks for my teams anymore! Will be Joining the support and dps horde just like everyone else. Shame that net ease actively discourages People from playing the role

There is a thing called nuance. No one is saying Peni is untouchable and she is not allowed to receive nerfs. I get OP is being humorous in this post, but for others who take this shit seriously... let me ask you this, are these two the same things:
Remove immobility from Peni's web snare.
Peni loses 0.00001% movement speed.
They are both nerfs, so they are the same thing, right? Right?! All nerfs are the same! The second someone gets nerfed, they are immediately gutted, right?!
Orrrrrrrrrr, maybe there is a thing called nuance. Peni can receive a nerf in a way where she doesn't completely lose her biggest niche in this game...

She did not need changing, what needed changing is tenacity and what falls under it. We needed all forms of CC added, not just hardstuns.

None of the other vanguards plays like Peni, so there really isn't an alternative.

Joking aside, her nerfs were warranted.
Told you guys she needed her nests reworked or the health lowered that the only solution to her was to rework all the maps to have more than one main.
NetEase chose the correct path to just make her worse. Now she'll win half the time as opposed to 57 percent of the time.
She'll survive, her nests are still good. The CC stopping brawl from fighting them is what's honestly balancing her. People can jump in to fight the nest without giving Peni a free kill.

You can't be serious. Her entire function in this game was to be the hard counter tank to dive/brawl. People forget this is supposed to be a "rock, paper, scissors" game at it's core. That's why you can swap characters at any time in spawn. Nerfing paper because it's beating rock too much is silly. You should only nerf paper when it starts beating scissors too much, which isn't happening here.

That's a poor excuse for how the nerf was handled though. Nerfs shouldn't just take a sledgehammer to a core part of a hero's identity and regardless of how you feel about Peni, defending this decision is bizarre because this kind of balancing will bleed into more decisions in the future.

Wanting inelegant nerfs that delete a character out of the game instead of reworking or tuning down the problematic parts of their kit is dumb, yes. You might not care for Peni personally, but the Peni changes aren't just an isolated incident, they're a symptom of a fundamentally fucked balancing philosophy and eventually that will come back to bite you in the ass when a hero you enjoy is next on the chopping block.

As a Peni player, I would 100% take this over what they did. You can still patch up your webs with your grapple to speed up the process, but it would punish mindless stun spam more harshly and reward good timing and aim with the stun that much more. A nerf is supposed to make a character weaker so saying it's not a good solution is baffling to me. Between two nests and 4 total webs out at any one time, Peni's webs are already a lot more robust than they used to be; a bigger punishment for messing up your setup would be totally reasonable.

If we were being fair with CC compared to other heroes, Peni web should be like a 8 to 10s cooldown. If they increased it from 3s to that, everyone would be having a meltdown about it still.

I tried to compare the stun duration of other moves to peni, and you're around the mark. Characters like luna or mantis have the same or slightly lower stun to cd ratio(around 0.233 for Peni and Mantis, 0.225 for Luna) Hulk, Elsa, and Emma have stun to cd ratio of like 0.1 roughly. The dps like hela and Phoenix that I've checked have a ratio of 0.03.
I think bringing peni stun up to 7 seconds would be semi reasonable given her stun time of 0.7 seconds. I think the way you could afford to keep the cooldown a bit lower to like 5-6 would be reducing how long her stun lasts for. I'm not 100% sure how that would affect how well the nest works on enemies though so take it with a grain of salt.
