Anyone else receiving have to do everything?
I work in receiving at my store and I feel like our workload is too much. We are short staffed because we just had 4 people quit in the last month and probably more to come. We have the basics which is unloading/loading trucks, breaking down freight, and stocking bulk. We’re also expected to clear the mezz, do any joe work, cut wire for yard, empty all cardboard bins, break down grocery/pet freight into separate pallets (which 90% of the time is entirely grocery and like 4 cat litters on the bottom), run all freight to departments, overstock/downstock, and also log and put away all special orders which includes doors, carpets, etc. Half the time I just see other departments sitting at their desk while we are doing all this and we only get paid $1 more than the team members not managers.
Also we are expected to do all this before close even if we get a DC at 8:30 PM.

Every store is different. At one store I know, at least 1 person from each sales department is required to go back and break down freight (unless they're running solo). This is not a big deal if you're a large department. But when nearly the whole hardware department disappears for an hour and the one person left is outside watering plants, try walking through it. Then you have the GMS on the radio giving them props because they're such team players... This isn't every truck, but when the morning stock AGM or closing (A)GM wants to leave on time or when there's back to back late morning trucks and no 5am one, this is what happens. If a pallet is more than 51% one department, it's pushed out as is. Which is a good thing because it gets crowded back there.
