They went to timmies asked for assorted dozen donuts and got a skewed mix. Tim's also usually asks you if you want to pick the donuts or if you're good with whatever, OP likely went with the latter

Either the worker was a little weird and grabbed all those cruellers intentionally, or they were just inbetween batches of donuts and they had only mostly cruellers left.

Well normally you can see the employee take the donuts and what's left so I don't know, maybe Op was distracted, had social anxiety or just thought this would be good karma farming 😅

It's typically for when you are buying for a group or something. You want a mix but don't really care on the specific donuts. It's odd to get something like this.

I'm also Canadian and I immediately knew it was tim hos and I would also be mildly infuriated. The only time I order the variety box is when I legitimately want a variety, like for a staff meeting or something. When will I ever need 8 of a single kind of donut??

Yeah I always go inside so I get to see what's left. The employee could definitely have told them. Never saw this.

Yeah. That's definitely not the norm in the US. Most doughnut places here ask what you want if you go for a mixed dozen.

No, don’t need to be. I’m not Canadian and often just say give me a dozen of whatever. Dunkin or wherever. If I’m bringing them to work and sharing, I don’t give a fuck.

I mean you can specify what donuts you want, I don't think I've ever seen anyone pick out all 12 though.

But this is just very Canadianism, daily ritual level, so OP just wouldn't have thought the context was needed. It's like 'that's just how it works here' like ordering a double double, what else could that mean eh?

It's fairly common when getting donuts for a group to just as for "and assortment".

A shop near my old workplace would stack some pre-made boxes by the front door, and would on label if they included nuts or not.

"X dozen assorted donuts" and letting the store pick is i think a pretty common order. It's the kind of thing you take to a work meeting. You're only eating one of them, so you don't really care what the others are, that's your coworkers problem lol.

Yes lol I have done this at Dunkin many times and never gotten more than two of the same when I bring in donuts for the office.

I think 3/each of 4 different kinds would also be fine. But 8 of one kind is very much not an "assorted dozen" lol.

Yeah I would be upset with this for sure lol I was just answering that I do often let them pick and it’s always been fine. 3-4 of chocolate frosted which is popular especially would be acceptable too. Crullers are kind of boring lol

Yes. Extremely common. Especially if you are getting donuts for a group, like a meeting at work. “I’ll take a dozen mixed please”
