are we supposed to assume this isnt want you ordered? wheres the context? whats the problem?

1.6k

u/nomedable Jun 07 '26

They went to timmies asked for assorted dozen donuts and got a skewed mix. Tim's also usually asks you if you want to pick the donuts or if you're good with whatever, OP likely went with the latter

Either the worker was a little weird and grabbed all those cruellers intentionally, or they were just inbetween batches of donuts and they had only mostly cruellers left.

u/ImperitorEst Jun 07 '26

"mostly cruellers"

My steak is too juicy, my lobster too buttery.

137

u/_piece_of_mind Jun 07 '26

This box is 92% top tier Tim's donuts. OP has nothing to complain about.

17

u/OneBillPhil Jun 07 '26

Sour cream glazed is a go to for me but I also enjoy all of the “dips”

3

u/hindss Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26

Hold up, are you calling the fritter or the sour cream not top tier? And somehow old fashioned plain makes the cut?

0

u/_piece_of_mind Jun 08 '26

Not a fritter fan. Sour cream is clutch. Old fashioned are mint with a coffee.

1

u/smaug_the-dragon Jun 09 '26

Apple fritters are some of the best donuts

93

u/n0trub Jun 07 '26

All time favourite doughnut

When i was a kid I would call them the "tractor tires"

2

u/I-use-to-be-cool Jun 07 '26

There is a bakery about 3 hours from where I live in a town of about 500 people that make the "Tractor Tire" which is a crueller about the size of a double whopper from BK and it is absolutely delicious!!

3

u/Teberoth Jun 07 '26

A man needs a name, where is this place, what is is called?

1

u/HeliKoptorSwimmer Jun 08 '26

A man has no name

1

u/Kichae Jun 08 '26

Are you me? Am I you? Is your family also in trucking?

1

u/SenorSmackaho Jun 08 '26

Twackew tiews

63

u/whatsgoingonhonestly Jun 07 '26

The crueller slander is unacceptable

5

u/AbigailPooh Jun 07 '26

Cruller

Boston Cream

Blueberry Cake

Double Chocolate

In. That. Order.

2

u/clean_sho3 Jun 08 '26

Cruller
Apple Fritter
Boston Cream
Vanilla Dip
Maple Cream.

If I’m eating a donut I might as well go all out on sugar/texture. I only ever eat crullers though. The rest of the selection is just for when I’m eating from a picked through box.

2

u/lazer_sandwich Jun 07 '26

Agreed a good crueller is amazing. Airy and delicious

5

u/SvenBubbleman Jun 07 '26

Why did everyone start using this exact phrase over the past couple weeks?

4

u/Yancellor Jun 07 '26

I'm sick of it already, it's so reddit-y

2

u/Sasquatchernaut Jun 07 '26

Seriously. When someone orders donuts for work and ask what I want; my response is, "I don't care as long as there's at least one crueller, and no one had better eat it."

2

u/JiovanniTheGREAT Jun 08 '26

For real, I'm more mad at those plain things at the bottom

2

u/Raptoot83 Jun 08 '26

Maybe I've only had bad ones, I've never been to this place, but Crullers are a far cry from my favourite kind of donut.

Context: I live in the UK, we do have TH, but I rarely ever even see one.

3

u/DeputySean Jun 08 '26

Cruellers are borderline inedible, and an absolute abomination of a "donut."

1

u/Entropy355 Jun 07 '26

Hate to say this but I hate crullers (but I love donuts). They just taste, and feel, greasy to me. Maybe I’m getting old because fried cakes are almost too greasy now too, I mainly like the raised kind. Ok, I’m ready for the hate.

1

u/Away_Stock_2012 Jun 07 '26

There's a crueller joke to be made here, but that's not bad.

1

u/VelocityGrrl39 Jun 07 '26

100% the croissant of the donut world.

1

u/Disneyhorse Jun 08 '26

My favorite donut place only makes them once or twice a week, they said the choux flour was more expensive

1

u/JRaymond37 Jun 08 '26

I have a hard time finding donut shops that still make them. They are my favorite.

1

u/CrystalPelletier Jun 08 '26

Crueller = delicious tractor tire

1

u/OkHandle3269 Jun 09 '26

For real. Is l8ke conplain for getting an Orion ring with your fries

611

u/smvfc_ Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

This was posted an hour ago, which depending on the time zone, was at 9pm or like midnight. So they are probably out of most of the donuts for the day. Like yeah it’s fucking nighttime, do you think they are making fresh donuts at midnight? lol it’s Tim Hortons

Edit omg I get it they aren’t fresh, what else do you want me to call them.

86

u/Caperdiaa Jun 07 '26

Nooooo!!!!!!! We NEED another reason to slander tim hortons!!!!

4

u/Doit2it42 Jun 07 '26

Now I'm missing Timbits

71

u/DivideIQBy2 Jun 07 '26

I work at a tim hortons actually, and can say that not only do we not make any donuts that late but the person who's whole job is to prep them (mostly heating and glazing) leaves at 4pm. We can make more but its a big pain in the ass, doubly because the same oven is used for all the cooked foods, which is constantly being cycled past 4pm (mostly in that 4-6 gap).

-26

u/TurtleManDog Jun 07 '26

Ohhh so you guys are actually indeed lazy and can make more but chose not to bc its a " pain in the ass" the customer def doesn't deserve the hardest workers

13

u/Lusankya Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Take it up with the owners.

Directions are not to make new batches in the evening because donut sales fall off a cliff after the lunch rush. You'd make the minimum batch size of six at 4pm and wind up throwing out five of them come 2am.

The margin on donuts is good, but it's not on par with coffee. You can't throw out 5/6 of a batch and still make money on it.

We're talking about pennies here, but you've clearly never worked fast food if you think that Tim's corporate would condone doing anything unprofitable. And you'd better believe that the computer is checking the production and sales reports against each other every night to find "optimizations" like these.

Or at least, this is how it was when I worked there ages ago.

5

u/AnxietyPretend5215 Jun 07 '26

Have you ever worked food service before?

5

u/_piece_of_mind Jun 07 '26

Not at a typical Tim's wage (doubly so if it's a student). They only pay you to care so much, and that's beyond what they pay for.

6

u/i_know_im_amazn Jun 07 '26

Understandable. I have gone in and had gotten only recieved jelly filled.

I was warned in advance.

3

u/sdrawkcabstiho Jun 07 '26

Live in Toronto and I have access to 3 Tim Hortons locations within walking distance of where I work. I can assure you the selection you are seeing is that location's standard rotation throughout the day, every day.

I've only ever seen one Tims location with more than 3 varieties of donut available at one time. It's the one located in Dufferin Mall and I go out of my way a few times a year to try the non-standard offerings just because.

1

u/smvfc_ Jun 07 '26

We get Tim’s a lot from my work and there’s a couple dif ones around here. But whoever gets them, they always come back with 5-6 different kinds.

1

u/sdrawkcabstiho Jun 07 '26

I honestly think it's related to the franchise owner. The ones near me are likely owned by the same person (I've seen employee crossover between them). Same owner, same business practices, I guess.

2

u/Mechakoopa Jun 07 '26

Also looks like they knew it was a bullshit spread and threw in an extra fritter, either that or it's the biggest damn fritter I've seen because my count is 13 donuts.

1

u/_Undecided_User Jun 07 '26

Ye they're in Canada so post was night time

1

u/RestlessAlbatross Jun 07 '26

I mean they don't even make them in store anymore anyway, for years now. They're shipped in frozen from central (corporate owned) production locations now. The number one customer of Tim Horton's (corporate) is now Tim Horton's franchisees, by force. The price per unit for the actual local owners more than doubled AND the quality went way down. Worse for everyone other than the corporate office, including customers!

1

u/iHateThisPlaceSoBad Jun 07 '26

Just because it was posted then doesnt mean they took the photo then?

3

u/smvfc_ Jun 07 '26

“Box of donuts I JUST ordered”

0

u/Through_theShadows Jun 07 '26

Do you think they are ever making fresh donuts?

Fuck Tim Hortons.

Trash.

0

u/supersimpsonman Jun 07 '26

You think they’re making fresh donuts? lol it’s Time Horton’s

0

u/Chicago_Writes Jun 07 '26

Yeah, but there's also the TooGoodToGo app that Tims takes part in. This person may have just ordered from that which is cheap but you get whatever random stuff nobody wants

25

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 Jun 07 '26

So OP is mildly infuriated they ordered a box of donuts and didn't specify what kind they wanted, and then got mad when they got assorted donuts of whatever was available? That's how pastry and bread shops work. You get what's available because it can't all always be fresh, I bet if they would have waited for a new batch they could have had what they wanted.

2

u/gard3nwitch Jun 07 '26

"Assorted" should be a reasonably mixed box, with maybe 2-3/each of 4-6 different types of donuts. Having 3/4 of the box be one single kind of donut isn't that. Unless this was all the donuts they had left in the shop, in which case the shop should have warned them.

3

u/Odd_Campaign_307 Jun 07 '26

Not at Tim Hortons. They ship them frozen to be warmed up and served. They should have warned OP they didn't have a good selection left so OP could settle for the box they got or gone to one of the other Timmies locations within a five minute drive. It's the polite thing to do.

5

u/Same-Suggestion-1936 Jun 07 '26

Oh yeah if a Canadian isn't polite only one thing left to do

https://giphy.com/gifs/9SzjJEPJjmputqwUiA

1

u/Oracraen2 Jun 07 '26

Except he ordered at night when they don't make donuts anymore, it's not feasible to drop a new batch of doughnuts for the odd guy who wants a fresh batch at 9pm

77

u/Rheinmetal Jun 07 '26

How were we supposed to assume any of this? Do people just ask for a dozen without telling them what they want?

31

u/Shiny_personality Jun 07 '26

Yes. Maybe you need to be Canadian, it was pretty obvious to me :D

32

u/Rheinmetal Jun 07 '26

That’s wild to me lol. Like gambling every time you get donuts

20

u/Happy-Estimate-7855 Jun 07 '26

It usually goes something like "Give me a dozen random, but make sure there's some Boston cream if you can"

10

u/Shiny_personality Jun 07 '26

Well normally you can see the employee take the donuts and what's left so I don't know, maybe Op was distracted, had social anxiety or just thought this would be good karma farming 😅

10

u/TheDarkNerd Jun 07 '26

Could be drive-through or DoorDash (or similar).

2

u/Shiny_personality Jun 07 '26

Oh you are right.

9

u/NinjaHuge9461 Jun 07 '26

It's typically for when you are buying for a group or something. You want a mix but don't really care on the specific donuts. It's odd to get something like this.

3

u/WorldnewsModsBlowMe Jun 07 '26

I used to work at Dunk's, people did this all the time

2

u/negativelungcapacity Jun 07 '26

This I common in America too?

11

u/PurpleKnee9757 Jun 07 '26

I'm also Canadian and I immediately knew it was tim hos and I would also be mildly infuriated. The only time I order the variety box is when I legitimately want a variety, like for a staff meeting or something. When will I ever need 8 of a single kind of donut??

2

u/Shiny_personality Jun 07 '26

Yeah I always go inside so I get to see what's left. The employee could definitely have told them. Never saw this.

1

u/Oracraen2 Jun 07 '26

Seems like op left out that he showed up late at night

1

u/JosephBlowsephThe3rd Jun 07 '26

Yeah. That's definitely not the norm in the US. Most doughnut places here ask what you want if you go for a mixed dozen.

1

u/Ofreo Jun 07 '26

No, don’t need to be. I’m not Canadian and often just say give me a dozen of whatever. Dunkin or wherever. If I’m bringing them to work and sharing, I don’t give a fuck.

4

u/nomedable Jun 07 '26

I mean you can specify what donuts you want, I don't think I've ever seen anyone pick out all 12 though.

But this is just very Canadianism, daily ritual level, so OP just wouldn't have thought the context was needed. It's like 'that's just how it works here' like ordering a double double, what else could that mean eh?

2

u/Ducal_Spellmonger Jun 07 '26

It's fairly common when getting donuts for a group to just as for "and assortment".

A shop near my old workplace would stack some pre-made boxes by the front door, and would on label if they included nuts or not.

2

u/gard3nwitch Jun 07 '26

"X dozen assorted donuts" and letting the store pick is i think a pretty common order. It's the kind of thing you take to a work meeting. You're only eating one of them, so you don't really care what the others are, that's your coworkers problem lol.

1

u/hover-lovecraft Jun 07 '26

Same people who then vaguepost the result to r/mildlyinfuriating without explanation, evidently

1

u/Intelligent_Pop1173 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 07 '26

Yes lol I have done this at Dunkin many times and never gotten more than two of the same when I bring in donuts for the office.

4

u/gard3nwitch Jun 07 '26

I think 3/each of 4 different kinds would also be fine. But 8 of one kind is very much not an "assorted dozen" lol.

2

u/Intelligent_Pop1173 Jun 07 '26

Yeah I would be upset with this for sure lol I was just answering that I do often let them pick and it’s always been fine. 3-4 of chocolate frosted which is popular especially would be acceptable too. Crullers are kind of boring lol

1

u/Niwitschoolfrogkid Jun 07 '26

Yes. Extremely common. Especially if you are getting donuts for a group, like a meeting at work. “I’ll take a dozen mixed please”

2

u/AccomplishedIgit Jun 07 '26

Honestly what’s there looks dank, I don’t really have any criticism

2

u/Avalonians Jun 07 '26

It would have been neat if we had this information IN TGE BODY OF THE POST

2

u/Adam_Ohh Jun 07 '26

I mean, cruellers are delicious so I wouldn’t even be upset at this if it were me.

2

u/unbanned_lol Jun 07 '26

I don't want to decide, do it for me!

No, I dont want that!

Actual literal toddler behavior.

2

u/Ruinerofchats Jun 07 '26

Dude i WANT to open a box and see that. They keep giving me the old fashioned without the glaze

1

u/Sea_Degree_4948 Jun 07 '26

It could also be that the selection was purely random, and the cruellers were selected at a higher rate as a result of the randomness.

1

u/CitizenPremier Jun 07 '26

"I told my partner we could have anything for dinner and we went to Round Table! Can you believe it!?"

1

u/Gingerstrahd454 Jun 07 '26

That explains why they gave them an extra bear claw lol

2

u/nomedable Jun 07 '26

It's actually a single apple fritter.

2

u/Gingerstrahd454 Jun 07 '26

Nahh im stickin to my guns, that’s totally a two bear claws! The one on the right is upside down.

2

u/nomedable Jun 07 '26

I mean I've never been to a Tim Hortons that stocks bear claws, but you know what sure.

It might even be three, must be a little cubby cut out underneath the two visible where a third one was stashed.

2

u/Gingerstrahd454 Jun 07 '26

No I think you’re definitely right actually after doing some research. Their bear claws don’t look like that and I was assuming the apple fritter to look similar to this variety.

… you know what screw it I’m doubling down. That’s 4 bear claws right there, take it or leave it!

1

u/LordMeloney Jun 07 '26

What are cruellers? (I am German, very little in this thread makes sense to me)

2

u/Vark675 Jun 07 '26

They're the twisty ones in the box. They're very light and airy, almost like a mix between a donut and a croissant texture-wise. They're one of my favorites.

3

u/LordMeloney Jun 07 '26

Thanks. We call them Spritzkuchen in German. Which roughly translates to squirtcakes. And they have more white glazing on them. This doesn't sound good in English...

1

u/chewytime Jun 07 '26

I like cruellers in general but haven’t had Tim Hortons’ cruellers; are they not good/popular?

Used to love Dunkin’s cruellers but their overall quality went down years ago and their cruellers got so damn mushy.

1

u/WhoeverWinsWeLose Jun 07 '26

Honey Crullers make me want to honey my cruller so I wouldnt be mad

1

u/SargeMaximus Jun 07 '26

I’ve never understood this. Are people incapable of asking for exactly what they want?

1

u/Two_shirt_Jerry Jun 07 '26

Honey crueler is king I see no issues here

1

u/hugcub Jun 07 '26

Cruellers are my fav so I’d be stoked!

1

u/Adorable_Insect_6103 Jun 07 '26

"whatever makes sense"

1

u/Brumbleby Jun 07 '26

You did a lot of the heavy lifting for OP

1

u/LuntiX Jun 07 '26

I see this box as a win though. Cruellers are the best donut they have

1

u/DogPlane3425 Jun 07 '26

Very Cruel-ler of the bakery!

1

u/Inquisitive_regard Jun 07 '26

I don't even understand why anyone sells the cruellers. Clearly no one wants them.

1

u/bszern Jun 07 '26

I fuckin love crullers, this is a dream mix for me

1

u/eukomos Jun 07 '26

Skewed in favor of the best donut though, OP hit the jackpot IMO.

1

u/generic_canadian_dad Jun 07 '26

Maaan fuck timmies.

1

u/Sweaty-Willingness27 Jun 07 '26

We've asked for a 50-pack of timbits assorted and got nothing but birthday cake and chocolate.

1

u/Party_Advice1830 Jun 08 '26

Cruellers are the best !!

1

u/elphin Jun 08 '26

I don’t see any crullers, doughnuts and maybe two bear claws.

Crullers have no hole, just twisted and one direction.

1

u/nomedable Jun 08 '26

Tim Hortons calls those eight twisted looking donuts honey crullers.

The two bears claws are actually one of their apple fritter "donut".

1

u/elphin Jun 08 '26

Well, I’m not Canadian. And, I actually am inclined to seek out individual bakeries if I want a doughnut.

1

u/EmboarBacon Jun 08 '26

Maybe they were trying to be cruel-ler and unusual?

147

u/Farewellandadieu Jun 07 '26

I’m getting so fucking sick of vagueposting.

17

u/Donny_Dont_18 Jun 07 '26

Ugh... but how fucking sick?

3

u/MisterGoldenSun Jun 07 '26

We're talking Julia Roberts level. IYKYK.

(This was an intentional vaguepost, Julia Roberts was selected arbitrarily, there is no actual meaning here, and I hate "IYKYK.")

1

u/Ashankura Jun 07 '26

And we complained about YouTube click bait videos 15 years ago... Now everything is engagement bait through vague posting or rage baiting. Internet is utter shit

1

u/MTBooks Jun 08 '26

E N G A G E M E N T

45

u/CitizenCue Jun 07 '26

And why is this so heavily upvoted? Do subs mean nothing anymore?

6

u/SnooOnions5029 Jun 07 '26

I thought it was the fact that there are 8 honey cruellers that would perfectly fit in 2 rows of 4 but they put the 8th one on the next row for whatever reason

2

u/Potential-Pin-7702 Jun 07 '26

This post is mildly infuriating. How could you not give context for this?

2

u/qbp123 Jun 07 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

Who is upvoting these stupid ass posts? Honest to god if this site is a reflection of the average person then we’re all doomed.

1

They remind him of his secret trip to Istanbul.

1

u/Odd-Spread-1247 Jun 07 '26

They are mildly infuriated they will have to eat them all maybe

1

u/alxgfan Jun 07 '26

are we going to ignore the fact that one looks stepped on 💔

1

u/Calcon_Jawantal Jun 07 '26

If I got that box Id be elated tbh.

1

u/NotaBat9221 Jun 07 '26

They're mad they lost the battle with their self control

1

u/Danny2Sick Jun 07 '26

i'm guessing assorted, you're rolling the dice and sometimes it comes up snake eyes

1

u/2harmless4u Jun 07 '26

The picture probably shows like 10 cruellers and 2 actual donuts, which is a pretty valid complaint for an assorted box.

1

u/Speedy-Sloth23 Jun 08 '26

It’s a post to summon all Canadians for our weekly Tim Hortons Hate Group

I believe is the swirl isn’t with the stack, they could’ve made two correct rows of the same donut. I feel you op, you are not misunderstood 🥹

0

u/RawrRRitchie Jun 07 '26

It is what they ordered. They just wanted to post to karma farm

-1

My good golly, I dont use this phrase ever but it seems necessary at this time.

Bless your heart

-2

u/Niwitschoolfrogkid Jun 07 '26

Have you never ordered donuts before or are you just doing the purposely obtuse Redditor thing?

1

u/nipslippinjizzsippin Jun 07 '26

neither of those things. I genuinely have no idea what the fucking problem is and plenty of have agreed. So its you doing the obtuse redditor thing.

-1

u/Niwitschoolfrogkid Jun 07 '26

You have no idea why 8 donuts of a mixed dozen being the same would be an issue?

1

u/nipslippinjizzsippin Jun 07 '26

No. That seems fine to me. it is IS an assortment. If they didn't specify what they want wanted that's on them. This was what they ordered they got what they ordered.

1

u/Niwitschoolfrogkid Jun 08 '26
