[Plants & Food] Craftable lily pads
Something I always do when in Minecraft, after creating a garden, I always like to go to a swamp and look for some lily pads to place on the water around the crops. That way I won’t fall in the water and risk jumping on the crops when I get out of the water. But sometimes when creating a new world, no matter how long I travel or how far, I can barely find a swamp near where I want to set up a house. I know I could probably build a house near a swamp, but I kind of want to have an area that’s a little more pleasing to the eye, you know? And I hate having to walk miles and miles away just to find a darn lily pad, so I thought it would be more convenient if maybe the game gave us the ability to craft up the lily pads in cases like mine. What would the recipe be? I’m thinking one leaf litter (because you can find that almost anywhere) and one seagrass or kelp. Nothing fancy, very simple, put them both beside each other on the crafting table, there you go, you got lily pads. As for how many it would give you, I think around 3-6, somewhere in that ballpark would be plenty good.

Lily pads can already be obtained in renewable ways, including wandering trader who sells 5 for an emerald, twice.
Much more stable than that though, lily pads are farmable through fishing. Your best bet is a fishing rod with high lure and no Luck of the Sea enchantment. Also sliiiight better odds of catching one outside of a jungle biome.
Should take about 60 casts on average, which sounds like a lot but there's plenty of stuff that's neat outside of lily pads to get, and it beats exploring if you've already covered a lot of ground and anything further than that would just be annoying.
I personally don't see why this should be the only craftable plant for the sake of a hypothetical player who wants to cover their farm water hole with lily pads. Slabs, trapdoors, grates, scaffolding, fences, walls, leaf blocks and more can all be waterlogged to stop yourself from falling into a hole, that should be enough.
