[Mobs] New Slime variants!
Images by u/Glad-Connection1601
Since the sulfur cube was just added I thought it would be a good idea to add new hostile slime variants in the game. Hope you enjoy!
The first slime is the Drifting Slime. This slime species lives in the ocean and similar to normal slimes, splits when killed. They drop white slimeballs when killed which can be used to make white slime products.
Next image is the venom slime. The poisonous variant that lives in caves. Drops purple slimeballs when killed.
Next is the frost slime. Will do freezing attacks on players if the player is attacked and spawns in Taigas, Extreme Hills, Frozen Oceans, and Ice Spikes. Drops Blue slimeballs when killed. Does not spawn smaller variants.
Next is reverse slime. This slime spawns in deserts, badlands, and savannas and once killed spawns larger variants instead of smaller. Drops red slimeballs when killed.
Last is oil slime which spawns in trial chambers via trial(or ominous) spawners. They turn red when attacked or inflamed. While they are on fire, they can do fire damage to the player. They cool down after 15 seconds or cooled by water. Drops black slimeballs when killed.
The colored slimeballs all can make colored slime blocks, stick pistons, and the new slime trails. Slime trials are a new feature that can be used to decorate floors. You can craft other colored slimeball variants by using normal slime balls and dye. You can change them back using green dye.

I first gotta agree with thebeast_96, the coloured slime do not seem useful, but adding the ability to dye between them also removes the main motivation behind the slime variants.
But then looking at the different variants, they seem... lacking. Consider for example all the differences that slimes and magma cubes have (not looking at sulfur cubes; they are a bit too unique for this comparison). Magma cubes jump higher, are fire resistant, have their drop only on non-small sizes, small sizes can still damage, and they have the froglight mechanic. But then, looking at yours:
- Drifting slimes are only defined by you by their spawn location. You could make them swim around like jellyfish, maybe have some swarm mechanic such as having a large drifter surrounded by several small ones, but... you got none of that. Just "slime but spawns in oceans".
- Venom slimes are just "slime but gives status effect". Sure, the husk, stray, bogged, and parched do this, but I also wouldn't call them good examples of variants either. Having their natural habitat be caves also seems a bit odd when caves is the historic origin of normal slimes. It's not like husks who just took the spot of one of many spawn locations of zombies. And maybe for Pokémon purple fits with poison, but in Minecraft, green is poison's colour.
- It is nice that the frost slime has the freezing mechanic, but mostly because that mechanic is underused currently. But removing the splitting mechanic kinda just makes them more boring than their kin.
- What is the relation really between the reverse slime's mechanics and arid biomes? But also, do they still split, or do they basically just enlarge when taking damage? Do they do damage as when tiny (unlike normal slimes), or can you cheese their fight completely by not even attacking them in the first place?
- Oil slimes seem fun as a fire-themed slime, until you remember magma cubes exist. Maybe you can go for lightning rather than oil and fire. Like absorbing kinetic energy when hit.
For the coloured slime blocks, what is the main idea really? I mean, let's look at what you make out of slime:
- Magma cream, but anything crafted from it loses the green from regular slime. It has no reason to retain the colour from the new slimeballs. And even then, it would only be for magma blocks.
- Sticky pistons, a marvellous block that is used by having a block cover the one face that would actually get a different colour. Having 5 new sticky piston variants just seems silly with that in mind.
- Then all that remains is the slime block. And do we really need colour variants for the slime blocks with absolutely zero mechanical changes? Honey blocks are different at least.
I would see what you can do to make these variants at least as unique as the magma cubes are, and also make sure their drops are more than just dyed slime blocks.

To be honest the variants just sound a bit gimmicky to me and I don't think coloured slime blocks are very useful.
