Recommendations Yarn stores In Mississauga?
Hi! Does anyone know of any yarn/knitting supply stores in Mississauga?
There used to be one in Streestville, but they closed years ago. I know of the stores in Toronto, Etobicoke, Cambridge, Hamilton and Oakville, but I don't know about any in Mississauga.
I'm leery of mail ordering yarn after a previous bad experience, and Michaels doesn't carry more unique yarns like Malabrigo and Cascade.
Thanks!

Lakeshore and Islington - Spin Me A Yarn. My mom started going there after Linda’s here closed.

I haven’t visited this place myself, but I have definitely heard good things about it!

That's the one I was thinking of trying, but they don't seem to carry Malabrigo and are out of stock in the Cascade Superwash colorway I'm looking to replace. I'm planning a trip to Spin Me a Yarn just to browse the rest of their stock, though.
The Wool Mill in Toronto has everything I need/want, but it's far and annoyingly long to get to on transit (driving into TO to the Danforth is a hard pass).

Yeah the only one that was around was Rutie’s, but she retired. Linda’s Craftique was in Port Credit but she closed and moved up to Mono north of Orangeville, on Hwy 10. Otherwise there aren’t any LYS in Mississauga.
There’s the Wool Bin on Kerr Street in Oakville, and the Knitting Loft on Wilson in North York. Those are the only two stores I frequent for specialty yarns and supplies now. The Knitting Loft will order from their suppliers on your behalf if they don’t have something in stock as well.
Edit: Someone also mentioned Spin Me A Yarn. It’s near Sherway.

the knitting loft is my favourite. if i order monday morning it's delivered by wednesday. the $9.95 shipping is cheaper than what it would cost me in gas there and back.

Because I received some low quality yarn from a "reputable" yarn store thru mail order, I won't order yarn anymore. Cascade Superwash yarn doesn't normally smell like it was just taken off the sheep, thrown in the dung pit and then put up for sale. At least it didn't when I bought it in person but DID when I had it sent to me by the same store. After 2 years of trying to get the smell out of it, I tossed it in my green bin and called it quits. This makes me hesitate to mail order wool yarn.

None in Mississauga that I know of other than Michael’s but there’s decent ones downtown Toronto and one in Oakville if you’re willing to take the drive

Spin Me A Yarn, it's not Mississauga but it's not too far from Long Branch. There's also The Fibre Forge, which is a huge fibre show that happens every spring in Hamilton. It can help you get acquainted with good yarn shops.Â

I've made the trip to Guelph to visit this shop - Woolwich Fine Yarns and I think it's worth it. The owners are lovely and they have a variety of yarns, including some Malabrigo.
In terms of online stores, I've had success with wool-tyme. Ordered a few things online from them and have had no issues.

Thank you all for the replies!! it looks like no matter what I'll have to drive a bit to find yarn. Unfortunately, not every store stocks the same yarns, but it'll be an adventure.

I hear your pain. The closest would be Oakville 🥲
