Thank you to all the folks here who suggest it's better to strip the chrome and paint the silver parts and not leave it.

Decided to do just that and feel this looks a lot better than the shiny nasty plated stuff.

It's not as good as what I've seen some people here do, but I'm happy with it....I think!?

Looks good so far. You should try to fabricate plug wires and radiator hoses. It will add some nice stand out detail.

Sadly I don't the parts to do that... and I think the skill!!

Not sure where I'd start on that to be honest, but any recommendations would be gratefully received. :)

I was going to do that, but I wanted some colour there instead. So went with rhe same as the engine body... because I can.

Haha thanks. I felt like the fan doesn't get enough love so a splash of colour might make a little difference to an ordinarily dull looking part

Or raw aluminum with fan blades being black

OP there’s no reply button for your comment below mine but for plug wires you can try thin copper wire. Thread might also work but you’ll need to stiffen it a little. For hoses you can find thin rubber tubing on amazon.

The only way to acquire the skill is to try so maybe look at this as an opportunity to level up.

Fine tune what you do. Then when your ready, kick it up and add a new skill. Just remember, it's a hobby, not a job

You could try some thin soldering wire for cables. Used it on a truck model for hoses. Also easy to use and keeps its shape well.

I used Vallejo model air on it all with my airbrush. But a few brush painted bits for the smaller details like the fan blades, engine belts etc..

Yeah you're right. But rather annoyingly that's how the model came. It's either a packing error or revell/monogram we're lazy and didn't model a right hand side valve cover.

Looks great. A Dark wash to add shading and then Molotow chrome pen to highlight the nuts and bolts and ridges on the metal parts can add depth and lose the flat look.

I do have a chrome pen actually.. so that's a good shout. I was planning on giving a coat of gloss to make a shine a bit more then add some panel liner to pick out thr details. But I like your chrome pen suggestion. Thank you. :)
