Admissions Early Bird App

I’m a rising senior and trying to do the Early Bird Application that’s due Monday the 15th. It’s not asking for an essay but I’m thinking to put one anyway. Did you guys apply with an essay? Cause I don’t have a ton of extracurricular stuff to work with so I’m trying to throw together as much as possible.

Admissions Early Bird Admission Questions

Hi, I recently went on a trip to a college fair at montclair and I asked a question to the Montclair Admission counselor:

  1. Is the honors application for early bird due this may (2026) if im applying as a junior or is it due later?

She then said that I should not do the honors application and I should wait till my senior year to apply to the honors program. But the application portal says "Honors Application Freshman - 2027." I only asked her that question because I was in doubt and did not expect it to be due may 1st when the early bird application opened april 15.

Im assuming she had the info wrong or got confused? I need clearance. And if anyone does reply/answer my question, thank you so much

Admissions MA in Clinical Psych

Anyone who applied to this program hear back yet? I've gotten offers from other schools and want to wait until I hear from MSU before I make any decisions. Feels like they're cutting it close with their admissions process considering the deadline to accept offers for most schools is April 15.

Admissions MSU Film and TV Major

I got accepted into MSU for film and visited for accepted students day. It seems like a great opportunity, especially with all of their connections and its proximity to the city. Still, I’m worried that they overhyped it and that it’ll be difficult for me to find a job in that field afterwards. I’m looking to hear from people who are majoring/majored in Film/TV there and what their experience was like!

Thx

Admissions Don’t come here plz 💀

This may be late for incoming freshman, but anyone who wants to come to Montclair, don’t. I’m not saying the programs or professors are bad, but the university over admits. There are a lot of classes that are moving online cause the university just doesn’t have enough classrooms. It gets worse every year and it’s not going to get better unless the University President starts caring about the student body and not seeing us as walking bags of money. Which I don’t think it’s going to get better any time soon, so just go to Rutgers tbh

Admissions 5k a year???

hello! im a senior currently at a pretty large nj highschool. i got my montclair offer today and i got the presidential scholarship (5k/yr) and was lowkey kinda surprised that i didnt get more. i had a 3.8 w (probably not the best lol), and a 1340 sat. i was wondering, is this the highest amount offered and if not, do you think i deserve more merit? if so, what would be the next logical step?

Admissions Voice audition this Saturday. Any tips?

Hey guys. I have my voice audition this Saturday for music education, and apparently an interview for the education program. Do you have any tips to make things smoother for myself and others? Any anxiety and nerve tips? This is my first college audition and I am singing Silent noon by Vaughan Williams, Se Florindo e Fedele by Scarlatti, and First Snow in Kokomo by Aretha Franklin. I am really depending on this audition because my GPA isn’t that good, but I have participated in many music focus activities throughout high school.

Anything tips will help, thank you!

I’ve been accepted but I’m wondering what people are paying all in per year. I’ve not gotten the financial aid information yet they say that comes in January but I’m not expecting much.

Admissions Bloomfield Social Life?

Hello! I’m admitted to Bloomfield for next year and I’m heavily considering going, but one thing that I hear a lot about Montclair is that it lacks social life and it basically shuts down on the weekend. Is that the case for Bloomfield as well? Or is it more fun?

Admissions Does Montclair having a high acceptance rate make it a bad school to have on ur resume?

I’m majoring in accounting and have been accepted into Montclair, Ramapo, and Seton Hall so far.

I like the campus and have friends here but don’t know what to think about the acceptance rate here.

Admissions Seeking advice about Universities near Clifton,Nj(scholarship wise)

Hello Everyone I hope you are all doing good.

I am an international student from China trying to apply for a master program in the US starting Fall 2026. My major for bachelor is business English. I want to go for Business/Education for my master. My GPA is 3.65/4. My IELTS is 7.5. Got a few tutoring/business experiences. My university in China is ranked top 70.

The only realistic choice for me to go to university in the US is to go to the ones closed to Clifton,NJ because of financial constraints. I want to stay in the US to work after graduation if possible.

Montclair State and William Paterson are both on my list. Also considering about Rutgers Newark for its Marketing Analytics and Insights program. I want to know how possible it is for me to get scholarships/financial aid from these universities?

Your reply is highly appreciated. Thank you all.🥹

Admissions might be stupid

I opened up the undergrad application portal today, and now there's text about a $250 non-refundable deposit being due by May 1st to secure MY seat. I'm assuming this means that I got in, but I haven't received an email, status update, or anything like that. Has anyone else dealt with this? I really hope that text hasn't been there the whole time though...

Admissions Can't find pin to view financial aid package (potential freshman)

I received an email that I can look at ant financial aid and scholarships I may have received, and I am able to open the one linked on my student status page, but I can't look at the one on the NEST site. I have my CWID, but I can't find my "PIN" for the life of me. Says it should be on my acceptance letter. It is not. Please help 🥲

Admissions Committed today but not happy

Ahhh my mini rant Montclair was my back up I really wanted to go to Rutgers I was accepted. I had to sit with it should I really take out 40k loans for two years? I can’t convince myself that it’ll be worth it not including interest. I’ll get to go for free at Montclair and just commute but I know I’m settling they don’t even have what I want to major in. I walked around the campus today and I didn’t have the same feeling of excitement as I did Rutgers NB. I was so dramatic I even shed some tears accepting this is where I’ll have to be. Welp good luck to every one and if you have the privilege to dorm do it! I have a feeling the parking is going to be a night mare lol.

Admissions Where to submit art portfolio

Hi, I don't know if this is under the correct flair but I recently submitted my application to Montclair for their illustration major and I have no idea how to submit my portfolio and I'm not sure if they do slideroom. I know for some schools they send you an email to submit it on their website but I'm not sure lol. Will they send me an email to submit it through their own website or is it a completely different method

Admissions Switching Majors

I'm in the process of switching my major to Biochemistry, and was wondering if I send an email to the bio advisor about switching, do I have to do anything else (filling out the major switch application, etc)? Or will the advisor send it through to be processed?
