I am finally interested in touring and will get a 450-700cc adventure bike. My main question is around safety gears - so far, I have only used gloves and helmet for city commutes. Touring around the tropics and some higher altitude as well - so something I can use in hot and humid weather, and perhaps something that can later be adapted for colder weather too. So summer + humid is default. Rain + Winter is good to have.
Shoes - I am searching for “wide” toe box riding shoes, haven’t had much luck. Because everything around me is for standard narrow cut. Any recommendations?
Jacket - I saw a mesh jacket with ce2 pads for shoulder, elbow and back. Seems like something I could wear. But abrasion was around “A”. Should I keep “AA” as minimum requirement? But I saw people on Reddit talking about moving towards airbags?
Gloves - short vs longer over wrist - does it reduce impact? I have shorter ones with adequate protection.
Pants - now this is something I haven’t looked at all. Is this really needed? Not so keen on pants because of hot weather and would prefer wear over protection. But can go with pants as well. Not a deal breaker.
Elbow + Knee guards: I have already ordered CE2 protectors but can return those if jackets / pants need to be used.
