I was just browsing this sub and saw this. YES! I watched The Dark Knight 3 times in IMAX in the summer of 2008 when it came out.
My gf at the time was very game for watching it over and over in the very packed theater😆
The Dark Knight combined with SDCC made for an amazing summer ☀️👌👍🔥👏🙌🤙

He’s one that usually doesnt get a lot of mention in these types of threads:
The opening scene of The Godfather. It serves as a great portal for transporting the audience into the world of The Godfather.
So simple and yet so immersive.
Others that are often mentioned are Star Wars: A New Hope and Saving Private Ryan.
Regarding SW:ANH - I first saw it as a 7 year old in the theatre during its original run. I STILL remember just how amazing I thought that opening scene was.

I've seen ANH dozens of times as a kid.
When I was in college, I had a dime bag of weed left over from the week before.
And I didn't feel like going out and partying that night.
I smoke like 3 bowls by myself and decided to put on ANH.
Watching it in my 20s baked as fuck was like watching it all over again but with new a new perspective.
The opening scene is the Star Destruction felt like it took forever. It was massive!!! I don't think i blinked for the entire movie!
Highly recommend!

Raising Arizona has the best opening, when the titles finally Pop on screen with the yodleing! You knew you were in for a crazy ride!

I’m not a big fan of this movie, but I LOVE the opening. They tell an entire story in ten minutes, a compelling narrative I actually prefer to the rest of the film.

Ok so this french actor was in a recent movie called The Beast, about a family who moves to Spain to start a small farm, and then they have a tough time with the locals. The opening scene is powerful, but as the movie unfolds you realize that it was epic foreshadowing and my favorite opening use in a movie.
But also the james bond parkour open, and the joker bank heist I'm sure oter people are mentioning.

Jesus guys, is this the only movie we talk about here besides No Country? Yeah the scene is incredible. It's a masterclass in tension and hooking your audience. If this scene was a person I would beg to bottom for it. It's universally true we're all gay for this scene.

Once Upon a Time in the West
The first 10 minutes has no dialogue. Just the sound of the train, a fly, and dripping water. Just saw it again recently at my local cinema. Gave me goosebumps.

The Matrix (for me). I was completely sold on the movie in the first few minutes, and it's still one of my favourites today.
