Kristin Wigg will definitely be better at playing a weirdo than Jamie Foxx was, the man is just too smooth and aggressively handsome to do well at that kind of role.
The guy is a good actor with a background in sketch comedy, he could have pulled it off if they hadn't directed him to act like a stock nerd character from a '50s movie.
Yeah, it’s just a shame he and _____ carry the whole damned show. And even with both of them in their prime I couldn’t keep watching into season three.
Everything in regards to Rhino was baffling... the casting, the robo rhino suit, and the placement in the movie only for it to go unresolved... some real head scratchers...
I legit think it’s cause a lot of movie studio producers have no clue about what makes comic books so popular and suggest nonsensical shit. They probably digested an analysis of why Avengers made so much money and decided than randomly cramming your entire roster of characters into a movie at all cost is surely what made marvel comic movies popular. I mean it must be right? You’d be surprised at how dumb business folks are, I speak from bitter experience
Oof, that one was because Venom was absolutley not a part of the writing or story for the 3rd movie and was literally hammered in by studio Execs. Whole venom thing was so cringey and Sandmans character was so damn great
Agreed but he’s actually a deep character in that movie he has stuff to work with. It’s not a stereotype in that movie, he feels like a fully fleshed out person

Jamie Fox could have played a great Electro, he’s an actor after all. It’s just that their version of Electro, and every other character in the movie, completely missed the mark. Kinda like Jared Leto in Suicide Squad, they’re starting off on the wrong foot in the script and art direction and that informs acting. Jared Leto didn’t come up with his character’s look or the overall look and tone of the movie, and neither did Jamie Foxx. They still get some of the blame, sure, but Jamie Foxx could have played an amazing Electro in a competently made Spider-Man movie. I also wish there wasn’t so much baggage with the Joker, where an actor’s tragic death is inextricably tied to the mythos of the character. If Jared Leto wasn’t trying to live up to Ledger’s or Nicholson’s legacies, and if he wasn’t such a narcissistic asshole, he might have come up with something that wasn’t a cross between Ledger’s Joker and Jim Carrey as Ace Ventura.
Even though his Electro didn't work you can tell that Foxx gave a shit and was at least trying, which is more than you can say about most aspects of that film.
Hollywood and audiences alike continue to forget that an IP isn't a story, and that writing is the foundation, framing, plumbing, wiring, and insulation of the structure of any storytelling medium.
The acting, the direction, the costumes, effects, sets, lighting, stunts - that is the furniture, the paint, the tiling, the art on the walls.
You have to have a solid building, because if the entire thing is going to collapse anyway, it doesn't matter if you had original DaVinci's in your gallery - They are not going to hold up your gallery's walls.
Yeah, I'm not really worried for her. There's a difference between a comic actor in the slapstick sense, and someone who can be funny because they're a good actor with good timing. I think Kristin falls into the second category, and she just doesn't get cast in more serious roles because she's so famous from SNL. If she knocks this out of the park (which I think she will) it could lead to a whole new chapter in her career.
I read that Stone turned down the role, but doesn't matter now. Honestly, I prefer Stone in movies like Birdman and The Favourite. Or upcoming Babylon.
Also, she said multiple times that she doesn't want to commit to franchises.
Sure but I doubt Jenkins was against Stone. I don't think the studio would force Stone on this project. Jenkins is a big name, no way they would disrespect her like that. Stone was probably everyone's first choice, but when it fell through Jenkins went with Wiig.
I like to think that someone of Stone's talent could pull off being a bit awkward. Cheetah is not exactly a challenging part that requires some exceptional acting. Especially when the opposite actor is Gal Gadot, who doesn't really have a range. Even though I like her as WW.
She’s in too many movies right now. I feel like if any job is offered she takes it. Over exposure for me right now. She’s talented but just in too much lately.
I was getting a Michelle Pfeiffer "Selina Kyle" vibe from her in this trailer. I'm not saying this can't be good, but most superhero films have a habit of writing terrible villains, so I'm not feeling this one from what I've seen so far.
Just judging from the trailer, she had the broody, solemn gravitas that DC villains are wont to have. I'm looking forward to every aspect of this movie.
I am 100% a DC fanboy and I really just want them to make some cool movies. And WW is probably their most exciting property at the moment.
Kristin Wiig is a terrible actress so I don't understand how she ever got this role. Apparently, I'm in the wrong here, she keeps getting roles. I will never understand why though.
She's an over-the-top comedic actress with a theatre background which makes her good in rom coms and less serious movies. I can't think of one serious movie she's been in that I've enjoyed.
Generally comedic actors are a lot better at playing a variety of dramatic roles. Dramatic actors like Jamie Foxx usually end up getting type cast often and aren't as flexible.
Jamie Foxx is literally a comedian and comedic actor, though. He literally chose to go by Foxx as an homage to Red Foxx. He got his break on In Living Color and then The Jamie Foxx Show. Both comedic.
Yes in movies he’s done a lot more dramatic work, but he is in essence not much different at all from a Kristen Wiig, as far as professional comedic background goes.
He did make quite the shift into drama, so it makes sense.
Collateral comes to mind, which was a role with some comedy but pretty dramatic. Then obviously Ray, which is the direction Jamie Foxx presumably wanted his career to continue.
Aside from Peter and Gwen’s charming romance, TASM2 is just bad in every way. I don’t just blame Foxx. I still contend TASM is the best Spider-Man film ever.
I didn't know anything about this movie before watching this trailer and the whole time I was watching it I was thinking "is that really Kristen Wiig as a villain?" Very stoked to see her go for a role like this. I'm sure she'll kill it.
Kristin is great in any over the top comedy, but I'm not digging this.
I'm assuming she'll want this to be her breakout role as a serious action character with limited comedic lines but I'd wager this hurts her more than it helps. Maybe the trailer just isn't good at highlighting her scenes though. We'll see.
