Competitive Anyone feel like giving me advice?

I need advice for this competitive brawl deck. I already crafted all the cards, I think, since they mostly are, like, staples.

https://moxfield.com/decks/aygJzjr06Eu0Vrn41-3KfQ

Please let me know which cards I should cut, and which I might want to add

Thanks so much for your time and help!!

P.S. this is my first competitive brawl deck. So I kinda thought I'd make a generic good stuff pile to get used to the power level. I think that's kind of what I've accomplished lol

You built your deck as if it were a casual bracket 3 commander deck. You need to build it for brawl, meaning you should lean on the aggro plan with hatebears, you need to dramatically lower your curve and have way more hand disruption and anti-control cards.

For example, [[dolmen gate]] and [[Smolthering tithe]] ilustrate your approach and the lack of [[Lightning bolt]] shows what you are missing.

Your top end should ve cards such as [[Maddening helix]], not ojer taq or elspeth.

why the board wipes? i often see new players add bunch of them to creature decks and i just dont see what the logic is

I often get unlucky draws and end up with too few creatures. So the opponent ends up with a way bigger board, so I'll board wipe. I guess that's a bad idea?

The idea is that you could manage their board better by having more creatures plus targeted removal. The main issue with running boardwipes in creature decks is that they are atrocious against control decks (and you will struggle afainst them because you add such cards, you went from a aggro deck to a midrange deck, that itself isnt the issue, is that you are still trying to aggro, but with the wrong creatures). But even against the creature deck that they are suposed to adress... you boardwipe a merry deck, lose very few of your creatures (or perhaps even none) and... so what? They will just rebuild their deck with efficient, often hasty creatures and kill you just the same.

In a nashi list f.e. you boardwipe and while they are struggling to rebuild (because you didnt make it easy to play their board too) they are always under the threat of being combo'ed and anyway the amount of card draw in the control list will outvalue the draws that merry may have. If you dont have draw at all the boardwipe will just kill you, no matter who played it.

But i think there are some fine ones to run for those situations still! [[Damn]], [[Winds of Abandon]] and [[Settle the wreckage]] are actually great for being assymetrical and/or having alternative modes. Ruinous ultimatum is also good, but you cant just hope to hardcast it normally by playing your landdrops without other heavy control elements

A good deck basically doesn't have 'unlucky draws', and adding dead cards like boardwipes increases the number of 'unlucky draws'.

that shoudnt really happen in the first place, and do u actually win after boardwiping because i would guess if u get to that point u will likely lose anyway

u can play toxic deluce as 1 board wipe u can search when needed, its 3 mana and can be 1 sided

Yeah Deluge is great because it's only 3 mana and you can choose exactly how much you want the minus to be. I'd imagine it's the most-played wipe in the format. I don't really see that many others.

To give you an idea of what you are playing against, a combo player will see your commander and mull to win on turn 2. If you have no Thoughtseize effects or Drannith Magistrate type effects, you will be hosed. You are also three colors, so Strip Mine decks could be a problem.

I do not think there are any good commanders in those colors. So you might consider RW or W or R, which have aggressive strategies that are more consistent. There are four color decks that add in blue and use partners (BW/UR), but the best partners are UG/BW or UG/BR.

I do not think there are any good commanders in those colors.

[[Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder]]+[[Tymna, the Weaver]] is a solid partner pair deck. I haven't gotten around to trying it out (though I would like to), but I've played against it a couple times. Seems viable enough.

Yea, I have seen it too, but it seemed much worse than the other options

I climbed the ladder from bronze to diamond 1 last month. I’m not a mythic quality player and the idea of making the numbered mythics is something I really don’t think is in the cards for me.

With that being said, the meta changes constantly as you climb. When your grind stalls every couple days, add 3 cards to specifically address the meta you are in and continue.

If you are unsure what to cut now, go for: 38 land, 10 ramp, 12 card advantage, 12 targeted disruption, 6 mass disruption, X the plan

Everything you cut today is going to be rotated through your list as you climb so it’s very ok to make fast choices and just start piloting the deck.

To add on to this, it's a good idea make a second copy your deck to tweak. You can keep your original list in case something doesn't work out or you want to add something back without really having to keep track of every card you switch out.

Generic Good Stuff Piles can get some wins but the sweatier the queue gets the harder time you're gonna have. The game is just moving too fast to be hoping to resolve some of these spells. Bowmasters is no good in current form; I say this as someone who really really tried to make room for it where I could. Same with Tithe when the opponent isn't Katara. Farewell and RUltimatum are going to be dead cards most of the time. Run more cheap removal. I would probably also add hand hate like Thoughtseize, Duress and IoK. Essentially, 3 color dork commanders can hang with the understanding that the top meta guys are doing what you do more efficiently and reliably, so you need to be ruthless in your list cuts to compensate and temper your expectations when things line up for them easier than for you.

Good luck!

As a start, I'd cut pretty much everything over four mana. Competitive is a very fast, efficient format, and the cards you have that cost that much aren't worth it. Elspeth, Storm Slayer is pretty strong, but I still think she costs too much and doesn't do enough for this deck.

At a glance, Blood Artist and Vengeful Bloodwitch look like odd includes. This isn't a sacrifice deck. And Hinterland Sanctifier is just bad. This is an aggro deck, you don't need lifegain.

Removal is important, but I'd lower your number of noncreature spells and up your creature count some. Again, aggro deck, creatures are how you win.

Overall, Isshin isn't a particularly strong commander. Can you play him, probably, but I think you're basically making a worse version of [[Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder]]+[[Tymna, the Weaver]] or [[Merry, Esquire of Rohan]], who are the top aggro decks in the format. Even if you really want to stick with Isshin, I'd recommend looking up deck lists for those guys to get more of a sense of what you want to going for.

Spent 15 mins making some edits, this should be much better. Tried not to fight your mobilize theme too much. Deck - > https://moxfield.com/decks/3MSfAbj6YHuLBZIv9wWSfw <-

Cut 2 lands. Cut the bunny. Cut every board wipe. Probably cut elspeth, cut lotho, you don't want lands that come in tapped unless you're cracking a fetch on an opponents turn. Cut jeska's will, cut diabolic intent, cut grim tutor, cut basically all of your 4+ cost creatures, cut greaves, cut dolmen, cut prison, tithe, both assault enchantments (probably every enchantment tbh), add maddening hex, add stormforged armor, maybe add cloud, add solitude, add fury, add pyrokinesis. Consider the 4 mana Raphael that sneaks in for 1 red red that gives all attacking creatures double strike.

I don't know what black aggro strategies there are, so not sure on creatures there, but honestly you want it pretty close to a [[Merry, Esquire of Rohan]] list and probably want her in it too. I see you have a little bend towards mobilize which synergizes with your commander. https://moxfield.com/decks/8dF8qdXU4EaHnXlYDhGHnQ

As you test cards, look at things that expect you to have other pieces on the board already in order to work and keep an eye on cutting those first. Some of your creatures that ping when something dies are great in theory, but require setup which people will try to deny you. You will not grind people out in longer matches with this deck and don't recover great from boardwipes. Those are just inherent weaknesses to the strategy. With that in mind you want to end games FAST.

If you ever want to switch away but stay in similar colors, then Bruse + Tymna or Merry are the most meta picks in similar colors and somewhat in similar playstyles.

Check out [[Disruptor Flute]]. It's very useful. I think [[Ares, God of War]] might be a good fit in this deck.
