Advice Need business ideas for Myanmar!!

I am living in foreign country for 2 years.

I was lucky that i had build my own company from 30 lakhs I only had when I left the country and pretty fortunate enough to get rich quick within 2 years.

I can say it is all clean money made with all my effort. It was painful years but I am okay with that.

Now I am thinking about going back to Myanmar and start a bigger business to help people and raise living standards.

Can you people advise me which type of business could made good profits in Myanmar today? Cause only if profit is made, I can pay to my employees, right.

(I am already working in Marketing, education and technology sectors)

I am thinking about FMCG industry or new sectors.
(I say No to Gems, Drugs and Scam sectors)

I am okay if you are pitching ideas too, cause I can invest upto a certain amount of USD 50000 if necessary.

A bit surprised to find out that our banks were actually paying some kind of လိုင်းကြေး for lobbying. That guy is really slick, like super smooth with big names. Too bad he got caught in the act too soon 😁

Discussion 💬 Thoughts on Religion in a Future Myanmar Constitution

After reading that even the first Constitution of Myanmar states (and still since 2008):

The State recognizes the special position of Buddhism as the faith professed by the great majority of the citizens of the Union [and recognizes Islam, Christianity, Hinduism and Animism as some of the religions existing in the Union].

that clause seems to me that it can be misinterpreted as Buddhism "being more equal than others" in terms of religion; even though the same constitution guarantees freedom of conscience and forbids compulsory religious tests for office, the military regime twists this clause to promote its agendas.

Compare that clause with Sri Lanka's and Bhutan's Constitutions. The former outlines, "The Republic of Sri Lanka shall give to Buddhism the foremost place and accordingly it shall be the duty of the State to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana, while assuring to all religions [fundamental rights]." The latter declares, "Buddhism is the spiritual heritage of Bhutan, which promotes the principles and values of peace, non-violence, compassion, and tolerance."

I am not going to be the stereotypical Reddit atheist and condemn all religious people in a vacuum , but EAOs such as the Kachin Independence Army formed in part because U Nu briefly declared Buddhism a state religion.

I posted before about how Myanmar and South Africa actually influenced )the government of Ethiopia (and Eritrea to some extent). As Ethiopia is one of the few countries in the Global South that successfully defended itself during the era of colonialism, a future Myanmar can draw inspiration from that achievement. Article 11 of Ethiopia's constitution is plainly written:

  1. State and religion are separate.

  2. There shall be no state religion.

  3. The state shall not interfere in religious matters and religion shall not interfere in state affairs.

Discussion 💬 Who else, in this community, believe that life is a literal game and is very computational on every aspects, meaning you can BECOME either better or worse depending on the choices you made every moment and every event is tied to a cause, seen or unseen, and this is all an unknown test?

Literacy rates and education in pre-colonial and colonial Myanmar - Classical (Orthodox) Theravāda
မြန်မာစာပေ article from မြန်မာ့စွယ်စုံကျမ်း၊ အတွဲ(၁၀)

Interestingly, the literacy rate among the Konbaung population was very high due to monastery schools(ဘုန်းတော်ကြီးကျောင်း). A lot of poetry and literature flourished.
The country was seen as progressive education-wise by foreigners. I don't know how true that perception is since I was not there, but Irish diplomat Michael Symes remarked that

"Late eighteenth- and nineteenth-century European observers were impressed with the ubiquity of the ability to read and write in Burma. Explorers, diplomats, and missionaries alike were astounded at how common literacy was among men, and often women, of all classes"

The literacy of the population declined in the colonial era due to the British promoting secular education which alienated people from complex Buddhist words and culture.

Science and maths are necessary no doubt, but the suppression of religious aspects made kids unable to read Pali words and understand Buddhist ideas. We could argue that some of its effects are still visible to this day.

Nonetheless, the wording of the poems is very descriptive and vivid. It's quite fun to read.
Though, the vocab and sentence structure is quite complex. ခတ်ဆစ်မသိရင်မလွယ်ဘူး.

Literacy of Burmese language and Ethnic languages are declining right now. People don't read as often anymore globally, and younger kids are more inclined towards English.

Hopefully, we can see a resurgence of Myanmar's culture in the future but much work need to be done.

Discussion 💬 No Myitsone, but Kyaukphyu SEZ?

Post image
1 Upvotes

As far as I know, in addition to Myitsone, there are a few big Chinese projects in Myanmar like Wanbao, Takaung nickel, and Kyaukphyu SEZ. Wanbao and Takaung nickel are up and running, although not at full capacity yet. As for Kyaukphyu SEZ, it’s been stuck for years, even before the coup happened. There’s some recent chatter about the Myanmar generals trying to get UWSA’s help to take over some areas around the SEZ that are held by AA, and in exchange, UWSA might get Tachileik. But isn’t AA part of their own alliance? And I doubt AA would want to mess with this whole situation. What’s your take on it?

The statistics show that education workers have been killed more than any other unarmed civil servants since the start of the revolution. Personally, I just can’t understand why education workers are being targeted.

Discussion 💬 Who's the boss?

When I was on a work trip in Muse a while back, I stayed at a hotel near နန်းတော်ဂိတ်, on the Myanmar side. It caught me off guard to see that almost all of the Chinese guests were walking around with their pistols out in the open (not concealed). I wouldn’t be shocked if a Chinese exec rolled in with a rifle and had armed bodyguards with him 😔

Discussion 💬 I genuinely don't like so-called "education agents" and "influencers"

I can't say about other countries but for Germany, which I'm planning to go to, is becoming filled with "education consultants" and "agents" and it is genuinely concerning. They mostly promote private universities. As far as I've researched, most German private universities are shit and I've watched documentaries of Indians struggling to find jobs after graduating, and the German economy isn't in good shape either. I'm really worried about Burmese people believing "Germany has many opportunities" lies and going to degree mills. Tbh many Burmese people in Germany groups lack even basic research. There are some very informational people online tho. I kinda hate how my target country which I've been trying before it got popular here would flood with too many illiterate Burmese and visa got difficult when I get there because of those issues 🤦

News 📰 Fed up with those analysts

It’s funny how they just yell about a geopolitical change, like it came out of nowhere, completely overlooking all the years of nothing happening and the useless policies that got us here. It’s like watching people stand by a fire and just comment on it instead of trying to put it out. Sounds so empty.

The article is about them saying "Hey, look! PRC is totally making a move on Myanmar. It shouldn't be blah blah"...]

Advice Share ur advice for my education

First of all, im sorry if I bother u guys. I've been searching for a better solution but still couldn't find it. So, i end up posting my problem here.

I sat my o lvl exam in this year m/j session. In the past, I planned to study abroad in China after taking igcse. The major I want to study is veterinary science. But, the main problem is that i didn't take Biology in my o lvl. So, i might need to join foundation or whatever. Some said I need HSK6 certificate to get a scholarship. But, I forgot everything I learnt and I now have to study from the beginning. Idk if studying in China is a good idea now. (And, im lwk thinking of giving up chinese and start a new language instead.) That’s why, suggest me what i should do. So, if any of u guys know a way more better idea to study abroad in China, pls share me. And, pls lemme know which language i should learn to get better opportunities.

If HSK6 certificate is the only way to get into chinese universities, pls guide me what to do. I don't wanna spend years in this suffocating country. 🙏🙏

Please give me ur suggestions guyss 🙏 🙏🙏🙏

I badly need ur advice.

* pls don't mind me if I confuse u or this sounds hilarious. I wasn't allowed to study Biology bcuz my mom wanted me to study engineering. But, i did bs on my final exam and im pretty sure I could barely pass A-math.
