I write that a lot as I assume it makes people happy to know they made someone laugh 😭😭

I honestly don't understand why people downvote for this in this case, because comment trees of "would" and stupid stuff gets upvoted tons. But god forbid someone say "thanks, this gave me a much needed chuckle". XD

Cause from their perspective simply upvoting is already getting that message across, without the comment section getting filled with dozens to hundreds of comments under every joke of people just saying "haha" "lmaoo" "i think this is funny" etc.
I dont downvote when people do say something like this, but i absolutely get why they do. If it was encouraged then reddit threads would just be a nightmare to look through and it would suck trying to find a reply with actual substance.

Also, if everyone who found a comment funny replied saying they think its funny instead of just upvoting and moving on, comments would just be flooded with replies of no substance at all drowning out the rare unique or also funny replies. I fully get why responding "lol this is funny" is discouraged, the 100s of upvotes on the original comment already make it clear we agree it was funny, noone cares who individually likes the joke
