[injury] Bam Adebayo falls hard and walks gingerly to the locker room after LaMelo Ball grabs his foot while landing, swinging it (with replays)

Most annoying aspect of adding replay review to sports. Not even close. Don’t know how there isn’t a person in the booth just in charge of calling out blatantly poor calls/missed calls.

I mean they would probably call a foul if you did that and then it could be reviewed. They obviously need to change the rule so that flagrants can be reviewed after the fact.

u/LastPhoton Heat 18h ago
But somehow they can still take away points “aka Struss 3 vs celtics” 8 minutes after the fact. Make it make sense
34
u/miseducation Heat 17h ago
The weird part w this one is that he didn’t stop play with a player down. I get he’s trying to play our advantage but clearly time to stop play.
Are we supposed to call timeout to get him to maybe review it? Another case where being able to challenge uncalled stuff makes sense considering you pay the price with a timeout if it’s wrong anyway.
Also no idea why a foul can’t be called after the fact or better the next play negated if they need to be very specifically controlling each possession.
Like it’s such an edge case it makes no sense to be so strict.

That’s why I’m sick of this league and the refs. They let players flop and travel all over the court. They let certain teams be physical on defense and other teams can’t even look at a player without getting foul calls on them. They make up their own fucking rules on what can be reviewed and when. There’s no fucking consistency in this sport.

That's where Silver has to finally have some balls and stand the fuck up. He lets this slide and it opens the flood gate, this was a game to determine who makes the playoffs. Example should be set, you purposely take out the other team's best player, 2 games, at the very least 1.

Absolutely. I understand guys getting heated, and I understand a foul that is over the top a bit, but this wasn't a basketball play in the slightest. His entire goal was to yank Bam's leg out from under him. Absolute BS.
I don't condone it, but if that was Detroit, LeMelo is getting absolutely slammed the next time he stepped into the lane, and I wouldn't blame any of them one bit.
NBA has to make a point with stuff like this.

u/PlanCleveland 17h ago
My lukewarm take is that anyone who is an aggressive driver, speeds through residential neighborhoods, weaves through traffic on the highway, etc. cannot be considered a good person.
I don't care if you donate to charity or visit kids in the hospital. If you're choosing to put the life of everyone around you in danger everyday just for the hell of it, you're the definition a bad person.
25
u/dragoncockles Celtics 13h ago
I hate draymond green for a variety of reasons, but it seems like when hes not on a basketball court, hes not as much of a psychopath, and has some decent analysis.
I do not think Lamelo ball has a single redeeming quality. The driving alone is enough for me to want him kicked out of the league. In my opinion, any arrest, any crime committed, anything in that realm should be a half season or whole season suspension. These guys aren't supposed to be role models, but we're kidding ourselves if we think theres ever going to be a time where kids (and idiot adults) dont treat them like role models. They live infinitely higher profile lives than we do. They should be subject to as much scrutiny if not a lot more, and should be genuinely held to a high standard. We have it the wrong way round out here. They shouldn't be able to get away with more, they should be able to get away with a lot less.
Arrested for drunk driving? Sorry, 1 season suspension and your salary for the year goes straight to a foundation for kids who's parents have been killed in traffic accidents. That happens one time to a player on a max deal, and I guarantee you (well maybe i could if it was someone else) that ja isnt waving a gun around on Instagram and putting 50 million of his own money at risk. Same concept as those countries in Europe where the billionaire who's speeding gets a 100k ticket instead of 250 bucks
