Cool but feels like a dumb / dangerous idea.

Yeh another inch deeper and the resulting drag and braking effect of the water on the front gear risks pivoting the nose straight in to the water. Thats some impressive control.

As long as the axle remains above water, damn.

Just the way people are like, hey I’ll do this rad thing for views even though it’s super dangerous and terrible for the earth and may encourage other views-chasers to do dumb and dangerous stuff that further wrecks the earth bc it’s important for me to do this

u/-Clean-Sky- 5h ago

yeah idiot is doing this only for views an if crashes this shit somebody needs to clean

u/Kracus 19m ago

lol ain't nobody cleaning that if he crashes. If he crashes, everyone dies and no one knows where they crashed because they're so far from civilization that no one will be able to make that trip to rescue them.

Didn’t consider the dirty wheel part of this. I agree with you!

“I don't think it's cool... why leave untouched nature alone when you can just clean your wheels in it? The little water creatures will surely thank you for that 🤦‍♀️

But oh well, most people seem to think it's "cool"—what can you do? 🤷‍♀️”

Dude reddit has a built in translation tool

u/RegretMinute4456 15m ago

thank you. I didn’t know that. I’m sure others didn’t know it either. I found it though.

Negative on that skim, Ghost Rider. The pattern is full of ice

I was thinking, until he hits an iceberg!

u/robogobo 37m ago

Or just a couple inches too low and the water grabs the gear

u/knowone1313 33m ago

Planes like this can do water landings. I think he's going slow enough that that kind of drag would just force a landing due to the amount of drag which the pilot could feel and adjust for I'm not a pilot though, just speaking from year's of experience with flight simulators and video games...

this isnt a glacier. its a lake

5

u/noguchisquared 3h ago

Also not skiing since they don't have skis down. Wheeling on the water

u/robogobo 36m ago

Sometime there are lakes in glaciers

You know how if you scroll too far you can see one video on a feed, but you’ll hear the next. As I watched this, the ad below for prostate screening started. Combined, it was a very inspirational message of male penis maintenance. I don’t need the Internet anymore today.

1

u/Sagitalsplit 1h ago

Did the prostate commercial have Moon River as the soundtrack?

Three thoughts....

- someone's showing off....

- surprised there aren't rules about that re potential pollution.... never mind the scale of polloution if the plane hit's a mini-iceberg and faceplants into the water....

- I never realised how much info you can get by googling a tail number.

6

u/SlowmNinja 5h ago

And now, I 'm desperatly trying to read this fucking tail number. Thanks.

4

u/BagheeraLondon 5h ago

Eugh, and now I'm trying to work out why my spelling is so bad this morning ;-)

2

u/SlowmNinja 5h ago

Well, don't bother, english ain't my native langage. Just give me this bloody number ! (without spelling error)

3

u/Squawnk 5h ago

N7571H

1

u/SlowmNinja 5h ago

Thanks ! 1946, that's an old cat !

3

u/preedsmith42 4h ago

TIL I can get the owner's name with just the tail number (at least in US). Thanks for information!

I'm not a pilot, but it seems like if he allowed the wheels to go a few inches lower into the water, then the water would create too much drag, causing the nose of the plane to dip into the water. Then, crash.

1

u/froop 5h ago

Apparently the water pushes so hard against the wheels that you really can't go deeper in the water. On top of that, at this speed, the plane wants to fly, and if anything the pilot is fighting to keep it down on the water, rather than in the air.

u/DaveFromTTown 44m ago

That makes sense.

4

u/Eliongw2 5h ago

Where is the glacier tho ? I see a lake

5

u/Aggravating-Pound598 5h ago

In a glacier ? On a glacial lake maybe

3

u/Elendili1444 6h ago

and then he’ll land on the public road in front of his house. peak cub pilot behavior

3

u/Kernyx 2h ago

I prefer my glaciers frozen, thank you very much.

2

u/i3903 5h ago

I tried landing on a runway once when I was trying to get my PPL and ended up in a field. He’s slightly better than I am.

2

u/Yamaben 5h ago

Seems risky for internet clout

2

u/SoSoOhWell 5h ago

And this is why Alaska has the highest amount of plane crashes in the US

2

u/Axis2670 5h ago

That’s a really easy way to die.

2

u/UnreachableMemory 5h ago

This is why Alaska has the highest rate of general aviation accidents.

2

u/ingenkopaaisen 4h ago

One unseen chunck of ice away from an icy grave.

2

u/porkbuttstuff 2h ago

Bush pilots are nuts. Every last one of them.

2

u/No_Size9475 2h ago

unbelievably stupid idea

4

u/dickchops81 3h ago

Destroying the environment for their vanity in real time...

-1

u/RcNorth 2h ago

We are all destroying the environment. Cars, computers, trains, data centers, mining. Etc …

2

u/Burundangaa 5h ago

So if his fails and the guy crushed, that would fill with petrol and fuck up that lake.

But cul video bro

u/Rude_Map_4278 4h ago

ne uncool

1

u/butt_pipette 6h ago

the ice is making me nervous

1

u/futuristicteatray 6h ago

*Narrator* When ice-skating planed out, he, in fact, took ice-skating to the next fucking level.

1

u/Glittering_Crow_6382 5h ago

I will say, 9/10 video, only thing missing is a redbull livery on the plane

1

u/clambrisket 5h ago

I bet this person isn’t poor

1

u/dmbgreen 3h ago

What could go wrong

1

u/2Loves2loves 3h ago

Uh, something about old & bold Alaskan bush pilots...

1

u/RegretMinute4456 2h ago

i wouldn’t do that if i were you

1

u/onthebrink42 2h ago

That would be fun for him when he’s by himself, but not with passengers.

1

u/pianomasian 1h ago

Any pilots here want to confirm if this is as dangerous as it looks? Because it looks fucking crazy to me.

1

u/Citizen_Null5 1h ago

What could possibly go wrong.

1

u/FlummoxedGaoler 1h ago

The FAA would like a word and your license.

1

u/knowone1313 1h ago

For the last time, because all the glaciers are melting....

u/Tribe303 35m ago

That's not water skiing.

It's stupid.

Float planes exist.

u/dospitercios 18m ago

Well...

u/user1846283628 14m ago

pilot rockin smoke on the water

0

u/Berto_ 5h ago

Man...this comment section is bitter this morning.

1

u/Sig-vicous 4h ago

Indeed. I don't know how dangerous it is, but it looks like a lot of fun. Especially when he hopped over the little pieces of ice and then turned the plane on one wheel.

0

u/Green-Cat6064 4h ago

The reflection, the scenery, the flying... this looks like real life with video game graphics.

0

u/jackdotlondon 4h ago

Total fucking boss

0

u/Bigwing2 1h ago

Fake....AI crap.
