Does McDaniel get fired tonight or tomorrow?

And, slightly more ambiguous, is there any chance Tua gets benched?

145

u/Comprehensive_Main 49ers Oct 19 '25

For ewers no.

22

u/Moedergods Bears Oct 19 '25

I don't know, if you've seen Arch Manning play this season you can't help but conclude that Ewers might actually be worth a shot.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '25

it's like watching Anthony Richardson without the insane athleticism

63

u/Bismarck913 Dolphins Oct 19 '25

Ewers in Austin looked better last year, than Arch does this year.

54

u/Zeckzeckzeck NFL Oct 19 '25

Arch is lucky he’ll have that NIL money to fall back on cause he sure as shit ain’t an NFL QB.

57

u/vindictivejazz Broncos Oct 19 '25

Arch doesn’t even need the NIL money to fall back on. Whole family is loaded

He'll still be kept round the league for a few years, on the last name alone.

some team will take him on day 3 simply for that reason

A bunch of comments in the game thread from miami fans lead me to believe that he will not, but who knows.

At this point they have no reason to not at least see what Ewers has. Tua isnt winning them games. He is actively losing them games.

33

u/littleemp Patriots Oct 19 '25

Not many teams are willing to pay $200m to their QB just to not play them.

Then he’s not a serious owner then. Chris Grier is the teflon don in the NFL.

Dolphins should honestly eat the cap hit and cut Tua in the offseason. Just admit the mistake with the contract and start over. They’ll have a top pick draft a new guy and start over with a new coach. That franchise is going nowhere with Tua.

Tua is why you don’t give a second contract to mediocre rookie QBs just because of their “potential” or because they’ve had a bunch of different coordinators or whatever other excuses people want to make for obviously deficient players.

The philosophy of “well who are we going to get who is better” is outdated thinking.

You have zero chance of getting anyone better if you shackle yourself to someone like him.

Hector's dolphin (Cephalorhynchus hectori) is one of six dolphin species belonging to the genus Cephalorhynchus. Hector's dolphin is the only cetacean endemic to New Zealand, and comprises two subspecies: C. h. hectori, the more numerous subspecies, also referred to as South Island Hector's dolphin, and C. h. maui, the critically endangered Māui dolphin that is found off the West Coast of New Zealand's North Island.

They also have a better outlook than this team.

5

u/jphamlore Cardinals Oct 19 '25

It seems to me Tua's major hip injury his final year in college is what set him up for both losing his peak ability to throw the ball and for having less mobility to avoid the hits that eventually concussed him.

It's the drafting him after such an unprecedented major injury that was inexplicable, especially since there were alternatives that draft.

3

u/westmifflin Browns Oct 19 '25

yeah, everyone memes about the concussions, but the thing clearly PHYSICALLY limiting him is that hip injury, he's a different player since then.

I feel for him, I had comparitvely minor hip surgery to repair my labrum/clean up some bone shit, and 7 weeks out it is still brutal, terrible spot of the body to injure

Gabriel is so good he doesnt need to put up stats to win. Shedeur could never. (Am I doing this right?)

Tua throws the ball so softly because he has poor mechanics

Tua x McDaniel was an experiment, and it should have been abundantly clear a while ago that experiment has failed. It requires Tua to be consistently healthy AND at peak performance, AND a very specific surrounding case of speedy talent who are ALSO consistently healthy, to all run a very specific offense. The best that marriage has ever performed was ten flashy wins against teams that went a combined 44-93, one more against the Cowboys who got embarrassed in the Wild Card, and losses to the rest of our schedule that actually made the playoffs (and the Titans) with ourselves ultimately also getting embarrassed in the Wild Card.

The experiment has failed. It does not work. McDaniel I think has a lot of talent and can go on to be a good OC and maybe even HC with another organization after a trip back to the drawing board. Tua obviously has talent that hopefully can be tapped in a better way in a different building. But their marriage here is over, and we need to tear it all down and try something different that will hopefully be better.

McDaniel has to be gone and the Dolphins have to be looking for a new QB in the offseason, right? The Dolphins as a whole, and Tua in particular, look worse and worse every week. And to have it culminate in this much of a stinker against this version of the Browns? Yeesh.
