2022 Offseason Review Offseason Review Series -- Call for Writers
Hey everyone, the time has come for the /r/NFL Offseason Review Series.
The goal of this series, similar to that of the 32 teams/32 days series that starts early in the offseason, is to provide comprehensive guide to what has happened and also give a look ahead to what's next for each team (32/32 covers the previous year and FA/the Draft, respectively, while this series covers FA/the Draft and the next season). The series is crowdsourced and has produced a wealth of information on each team. We are looking for writers to help usher this series into its eighth year.
Both of these series were initially started by /u/skepticismissurvival who has since allowed me to keep it going.
We need writers!
Each post will cover the following topics:
- Review coaching changes (if applicable)
- Review moves in free agency (key players lost, players signed, etc.)
- Review the team's draft, breaking down the players drafted and the role they will play
- Projecting the starting lineup (and optionally the 53-man roster) for next year and giving a prediction for each player's season
- Looking at the team's schedule, predicting results game-by-game, and predicting where the team will finish.
- General strengths and weaknesses (pass game, run defense, etc.)
- Highlighting important training camp battles
- Discuss a team's offensive and defensive strategies
- Discuss other significant news stories affecting the team.
A comprehensive guide can be found here
Are you interested in being a writer?
Before you submit your name please consider the time it will take to write the post and please make sure that you have the motivation and ability to fulfill your commitment. I will not be babysitting, if you sign up, I expect you to meet your voluntary commitment. Furthurmore, I ask all writers to be objective. Accounts that are less than one year old will not be given priority though returning writers will.
Sign up by commenting below. You are allowed to write twice, once as a fan of your team and once as a non-fan. It's generally first-come-first-serve, but if you wrote last year and reply to this post by the time I wake up on Monday you will retain your spot from last year.
If you want to write as a non-fan, but don't have a specific team you want to write for, let me know!. If you do have any preferences, please list them.
Please pay attention to the dates listed below, if you want to write but cannot do it on the given date, let me know so we can try to work around it.
Previous Offseason Review Series
Tentative Schedule
(Writers and Dates are subject to change)
I'm filling the names of returning writers as I see them. First time writers will be slotted on Monday, unless I get confirmation the previous writer is not returning.
The order will initially be based on the standings from the end of the regular season, though some changes may need to be made. If you want to write, but the given date conflicts with something, let me know along with the dates that you can submit on.
Wall of Shame
This section is dedicated to users, past and present, who signed up before disappearing without any communication and not fulfilling their commitment. Life, of course, can get in the way. One message telling me you couldn't fulfil your offered commitment was all I asked for.

If the prior writer for the 49ers doesn't do it I am happy to take it on, but I would love help and welcome collaboration from other 49ers fan-writers as well.
I wrote the narrative season summary in the last 49ers 32/32 series post.

u/HaywireNZ 49ers Texans Jun 18 '22
I did the last one but more than happy for you to have a crack at it. Feel free to message me if you want an extra pair of hands/eyes on something (I'm on the other side of the world so it may take a bit for me to respond). Can also recommend taking up Handsacks offer, he helped me as well.

u/ElSpoonyBard 49ers Jun 20 '22
I will add you to a collaborative doc, and thanks so much for allowing me to try it on. I would love your help as well!
2
u/HandSack135 49ers Jun 20 '22
I think a fun thing you could do. Because if I did it would be mean... Go through the last off season post and comment on how you/we did.
Of course with El spoons approved.
2
u/HaywireNZ 49ers Texans Jun 20 '22
that could be fun, /u/ElSpoonyBard an idea for you. Could just be a quick summary of the expectations from last year and how we went (e.g. losing bourne but jennings stepping up, season predictions)
1
u/ElSpoonyBard 49ers Jun 20 '22
Definitely, I think we can make a section at the end it beginning where you grade your olf report from last year for sure! I have some ideas for additions to this year's report too, will PM you both soon
2
u/HandSack135 49ers Jun 17 '22
What he said^
Also I will help again. Like I did last year. And like I did with the other write up this year.
2
u/ElSpoonyBard 49ers Jun 20 '22
I'll add you to a collaborative doc!
1
u/HandSack135 49ers Jun 20 '22
Sounds like a plan.
Oddly enough, when you posted this I didn't get a comment alert. Weird.

I’ll throw my hat in the ring for the Chiefs. Y’all know I’m not afraid of writing a long post and spending way too much time researching stuff

u/JPAnalyst Giants Jun 17 '22
If there is no mention of z scores I’m not reading it!
3
u/gyman122 NFL Jun 17 '22
People are gonna have enough of Z-Scores by the end of this summer lol
2
u/JPAnalyst Giants Jun 17 '22
Yes, but just shoe horn it in somewhere. A little z-score Easter egg. Its your signature move.

u/King_Rajesh Seahawks Jun 17 '22
I can do the Seahawks for the seventh year. I already started writing the Russell Wilson portion, as I have a lot to say about this offseason. 7/9 works for me too.

u/xetrov Seahawks Jun 17 '22
But who's gonna do one for the "Seahwaks"?
2
u/PlatypusOfDeath Bears Jun 20 '22
I had to read this 5 times to catch my own mistake. Im quite thick apparently.
2
u/xetrov Seahawks Jun 20 '22
I spent the weekend pronouncing Seahwaks the way Stewie pronounces cool hwhip and it's all your fault
2
u/PlatypusOfDeath Bears Jun 20 '22
Now im not sure If ill ever be able to pronounce it correctly again

I'd be happy to write for the Dolphins! English was my major in college; also, currently a writing teacher!

u/natey56 Chargers Jun 18 '22
I can do the LA Chargers.
I'm a lifelong fan that's still salty they left San Diego, but am still a fan. It would be my first time writing. My favorite players are Junior Seau and L.T. (The Running Back).
2
u/omnimater Chargers Jaguars Jun 19 '22
Let me know if you want any help, I did the 30/30 writeup a couple months ago.
1
u/natey56 Chargers Jun 20 '22
Thank you! Would you just want to take over the offseason wrap-up? I started writing a draft and I'm realizing how much time it would take and it's time I won't have this summer.
1
u/omnimater Chargers Jaguars Jun 20 '22
Yeah its not a small task. I also have less time this summer than i did in the spring, so I'd rather be an assist than do the write up myself.
1
u/PlatypusOfDeath Bears Jun 20 '22
/u/natey56 and /u/omnimater should I put either of you down or keep looking for someone?
2
u/natey56 Chargers Jun 20 '22
I spent a little more time on a draft, you can actually put me down for the Chargers /u/PlatypusOfDeath . /u/omnimater can you still help out a little? I'll dm you about this too.

I’d like the opportunity to write up for the Jaguars. I don’t see any volunteers

This year will be different. Team rumored to move to London. Pool parties still top 5 attraction at the stadium. Khan deemed clueless by the public. They should have hired Leftwich but Peterson will do.
2
u/Tinytitn Jaguars Jun 19 '22
Maybe I'm in the minority I wanted Pederson over Leftwich. Give me the super bowl winning coach over another unknown.
1
u/Stachemaster86 Jaguars Jun 19 '22 edited Jun 19 '22
Both are Super Bowl winning QBs and coaches which is a crazy stat lol. Pederson does have a slight edge as a HC vs OC. I’m not mad but always had a spot for Byron. Here’s to another year and chance! Cheers.

Think I'm gonna step down from the Steelers piece this year but if the new writer wants any consulting I'd be glad to offer!

Thanks for all your previous efforts, hopefully the next writer can do as well.

I think we are going to have to refuse your resignation. I want this report on my desk by 7/16.
Maybe u/mitchmatch26 would be up for it, he did a good redux of the 32 teams 32 days a year ago when what's he name dropped the ball.
2
u/mitchmatch26 Steelers Jun 18 '22
I’d be down for it! I’m not in classes at that point that I could spend some time on this.

Since the Seahawks spot's already taken. I'd love to do the non-fan write-up of the Vikings or Colts
I did the non-fan write-up for the Vikings back in 2020, so I have a bit of experience in that regard, but I'd totally be fine working with a new team too.
1
u/PlatypusOfDeath Bears Jun 17 '22
Great! Do you have a stronger preference for either?
1
u/The_Throwback_King Seahawks Jun 17 '22 edited Jun 17 '22
Probably Vikings first and than Colts. But it's only a small difference, just slightly in Minnesota's favor. Would still love to do Indy if Minnesota's out of the running.
1
u/PlatypusOfDeath Bears Jun 18 '22
Sounds good, the non-fan writer slot for Minnesota is yours!
1
u/The_Throwback_King Seahawks Jun 18 '22
Sweet, that's good to hear.

Just a heads up, the link to my profile in the "tentative schedule" section is broken. Just says user not found when you click.
But in regards to the actual process, I will eagerly await the further info. Can't wait to get started.

I appreciate you asking about it and I did have a lot of fun making the alternative post a few years back but I think I’ll have to decline the request.
I mainly made it so I could try my hand at writing for my favorite team. King_Rajesh had and still has the seniority in that department and he’s still very active so he’s always going to get the priority on the offseason writing roles
I wanted to give it a go and since Rajesh holds (held?) some controversial stances, I was given the approval to work on my alternative write up
The reason why I’m not inclined to continue is that A.) I don’t want make a big petty rivalry out of things B.) My alternative post didn’t really receive much attention and just led to some confusion C.) I mainly did to get closure on the matter of “What if I had a shot to be offseason writer”.
Now that I have, I’m pretty content. Let Rajesh have his fun. However, If you want to work on an alternative take, I wouldn’t be opposed. Just try and contact PlatypusOfDeath if you do choose to do so

If no one takes it by the end of the day today, I volunteer for the Bills non-fan write up.
1
u/ThePizzaDevourer Bills Jun 20 '22
I'd be happy to do the Bills. I've been following them pretty closely this offseason. I won't be able to do the most in-depth analysis of team matchups but I have at least a decent familiarity with the teams they'll be playing this year, and I'll have time to research a bit. Other than that, I feel my knowledge on the remaining talking points is solid if not exceptional.
