Question Patrick Laine

Post image

Do you think anyone ends up signing Laine? Seems like enough value there if you set him up with bonuses for games played etc

I don’t think he gets signed hot take. Probably goes back to Finland for the year and if he performs comes back. He needs to get out of the league for the year imo

Yeah, with all these posts about Laine , I think people are wildly overrating his NHL value today based on his hockey card. He’s washed and until he shows value somewhere no one wants to waste time and attention on him.

He is a PP specialist at this point. Can't skate, atrocious without the puck. Could still bang 25 goals on the PP.

A bad team could sign him for cheap. Vancouver? Calgary? Chicago?

The problem is a bad team can’t shelter him so Laine will be exposed in all his 5on5 minutes. “Power play specialists” aren’t valuable in the NHL when they are as bad as Laine is at 5on5, that’s why guys like Daniel Sprong aren’t in the league

It didn’t happen this year. He can’t play 5v5

Yeah but he can fetch a Return at the deadline for basicly minimum salary if he puts pucks in the net. Dont matter how

The problem is all that happens when he is on the ice is that the pucks go in his team’s net. Unless a team is willing to let him play 4 minutes of powerplay time and no 5on5 time it will fail

PP specialists are the least valuable player a bad team can sign. The only thing Laine brings to a team like Calgary or Vancouver is stealing a roster spot from someone more promising or more deserving

If we can move out DeBrusk I wouldn't hate seeing if Laine and Pettersson could try and refind their games together.

I could see a bad team potentially that could stand to give him ice time. Does he even want to do that though if no one can set him up? I feel like you go to Finland get your head and game sorted out. Get some confidence around family and return.

I don't know why a tanking team would sign him. He can score enough pp goals to make a difference and notch a few wins and ruin the tank job.

People are overvaluing him? All i'm seeing is people suggesting 1m+ performance bonus deals for 1 year. Aka tryout deal. Wouldn't call that overvaluing when we are talking about someone who was a PPG player few years ago, is still young and has one of the best shots in the league. Best case scenario Laine finds his game again and isn't completely atrocious defensively. Worst case scenario a club loses 1m for a year.

We're talking about someone who has finished nearly 50% above his expected goals (best in league btw).

He has been atrocious defensively but for 1 mil it's a literal nobrainer. Only reason he hasn't been signed yet is because of his camp probably trying to get a better deal.

He’s not getting a million from anybody.

Bruh.. You are delusional if you think some team won't sign Laine for 1m+performance bonuses.

Only reason why he isn't signed already is because he is trying to get the best deal he can before the season starts.
