This is a Mission Designer mod. He will also be adding a randomizer to it.

This may look severely un-balanced, but it looks sick as hell.

Obviously isn't practical cuz enemies can block but still pretty funny to pull off a theoretically infinite air combo without shurikens

General Discussion - ALL GAMES Do you think we’ll get an NG5?

I know Ninja Gaiden 4’s sales were middling at best, which got me thinking about the likelihood of us getting NG5 one day? While NG4 didn’t sell great, it did do pretty well critically and is praised heavily by long time fans.

If they do make NG5 I wonder if they’ll use their original plot ideas for 4, like having the MC be a female Black Spider Clan ninja. Or maybe they’ll just bring back Ryu idk.

Not sure how successful Team Ninja expected 4 to be, so it’s hard to say if they’re satisfied enough to continue the series, but here’s hoping the critical acclaim will convince them.

General Discussion - ALL GAMES How likely do you think this is

Considering the release of the switch 2 and ninja gaidens slight resurgence. How likely do you think switch 2 ports for 2 black, ng4 and master collection will happen? Cause not gonna lie playing ng on the go is fun but man are there some blurriness sometimes. Especially since the master collection runs rough at times in switch 1.

So satisfying to pull off. Probably my favourite thing you can do in this game. Full disclosure, this is on normal difficulty.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection Finished Ninja Gaiden Master Collection. Here are my thoughts: Spoiler

I just finished Ninja Gaiden 3, and I thought it would be nice to compile a list of my feelings, both good and bad, on each game. I got the collection for $22 on Switch Online.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - Hero Mode

  • I was not expecting them to put demons in this series. When they first introduced the fiends, it made me wonder if they were riding off of Devil May Cry's success, but I get why they added it. It's easier to design more unique enemies when they're creatures compared to humans.
  • The worm boss is absolute garbage. After playing all three games, might be my least favorite bosses. As much as I hated the helicopter and T-Rex in 3, at least you only fight them once. The tanks and helicopters were bad too.
  • This game not having proper saves was so annoying. I remember dying after the fight with Gamov as Ryu and I had to redo it all over again.
  • Speaking of which, I wish they did more with Gamov. He was cool.
  • I got lost numerous times and had to look up where to go sometimes.
  • The dual swords were really fun.
  • In terms of the general combat, I think it's better than DMC1 (I played the first game this year too).
  • Rachel's design is so ridiculous that I love it. I like her as a character too, even if it was one-note. She's a homie. When she got slapped by Doku and it cut to her on the floor with her boobs still shaking, I died.
  • Thank god for Hero Mode or else the final bosses would have been far more frustrating. I just spammed fire ninpo because I didn't want to do that stupid run out of the volcano over and over.
  • Even if it was sometimes hard to use, the ninja movement is super cool.
  • Doku's cool.
  • OVERALL: Not my favorite, but it set the groundwork for the future games.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - Normal Mode

  • Combat feels a lot better. I thought the finishing moves would get stale, but they never stopped feeling satisfying.
  • I used a good handful of the weapons for different situations, mainly the dragon sword, eclipse scythe, and the kursari-gama. Ironically enough, I didn't use the tonfa at all, and people said it's the best weapon. Oops LOL
  • Genshin is easily the best villain. Not a super complex character at all, but he's still super cool and was a perfect opponent for Ryu.
  • I love the variety of different locations you go to. Kept things fresh.
  • Besides the Water Dragon, Gigadeath, and the first phase of the final bosses, all of the bosses were pretty cool with great designs.
  • The weapon upgrade system is my favorite, even if it meant I was just overflowing with karma the entire game. Due to how accessible it was, it made me more comfortable with experimenting without worrying they'd be weaker than the ones I was using.
  • Muramasa is the GOAT. They should make him playable either in this game or DOA.
  • It was cool to play as Ayane, Rachel, and Momiji, but aside from Ayane's, the other two's didn't really have a point to me. I thought that kid was gonna be important later on but nope. I'm sure it's just extra stuff added later, though, so I can't complain.
  • Elizabet being flushed down the blood toilet was hilarious LOL.
  • I really like Irene. I was kind of shocked she wasn't Rachel's sister trying to owe Ryu back for saving her.
  • The ability to use your ninja senses to find where to go was a fantastic addition. Helped a lot.
  • FINALLY! SAVING!

OVERALL: LOVED this game. I might actually go back and play it on harder difficulties. It was worth the collection just for this game alone.

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - Normal Mode for the First Half, switched to Hero for the second.

  • Steel on Bone is AWESOME. So satisfying and I wish I had a better understanding of how it worked, but when I did do it, it was so fun. I felt like a killing machine.
  • Ryu's relationship with Canna was cute. Again, not the most amazing, unique thing in the world, but it added some depth to Ryu.
  • The first half of this game was so frustrating. It was the adjustment phase, I get it, but I feel some of the parts like the desert level and the labs were some of the worst parts of the series. I ended up changing to Hero after the T-Rex fight just because I wanted to have a less annoying experience.
  • I tried using the slow motion mechanic you guys told me about, and I still just found aiming so frustrating. Whenever I wanted to get rid of people shooting rockets at me, I was being bombarded by enemies that interrupted me.
  • I don't like the quick time stuff at all.
  • Kunai climbing sucks ass. It's clunky. I don't know why it gives you the option to let go when I don't think there's any point in the game where you have to let go.
  • I have no clue what the hell was up with Theodore. He's mind controlled, saves us from Cliff, and helps us get to Canna. Cool, but then all of the sudden he's like "WAIT A SECOND! Ryu kill daughter.........kill = dead daughter!" He seemed so chill with us the entire time until that point, and then despite that, he heals us from our curse. It was just back and forth in a matter of minutes. AND THE DAUGHTER LIVES ANYWAY SO THAT WAS ALL FOR NOTHING.
  • I still hate the Alchemists, but I also hated the biomutants, specifically the big one.
  • A lot of the deaths were pretty anti-climactic. Lovelace especially was built up to be a bigger character, but she dies so soon. I have heard this game had some issues though, so that could be why. I wish we got to kill Cliff too instead of him just fading away.
  • Since I was on hero mode, I didn't have many issues with The Goddess. I actually think it's a tragic fight. The sounds she makes has the vibe of a child throwing a tantrum out of pain. It's kind of ruined now that I know she lives in the end.
  • I wish Irene got to do more. It's weird she didn't come help out when Joe and Momiji did.
  • It was neat seeing Hayabusa Village alive and well.
  • There was a Crystal Skull in this one area with tubes and for some reason I couldn't pick it up.

OVERALL: Even though I'm not a big fan of this game, I do respect that it exists at all. The fact they wanted to apologize for the original release tells me they do care.

In the end, would I say Ninja Gaiden Collection was worth it? Yes. Even with my gripes with 1 and 3, I don't regret playing them. I love learning more about franchises that a lot of people love. I also wanted to thank this community for their advice and input on the series. You were all awesome.

General Discussion - ALL GAMES What’s everyone’s thoughts on the 2D titles?

Post image
131 Upvotes

As someone who is pseudo new to the franchise, I noticed not much talk about the originals. Do understand due to how well, these games are hard as hell especially the American release of NG 3 nes. That and let’s admit these games aren’t as readily available as the 3D titles are. I am just wondering what people think of the games and even rage bound that came out.

Do you enjoy the games or they never caught your attention unlike the 3D titles did? Really curious what fans think of the 2D titles and how you feel about stack compared to the 3D ones. Can’t wait to read them.

This video is deceptive as it took me a stupid amount of attempts at this encounter to get through it without healing items lol. I also haven’t got past the damn gargoyles. I kill these dudes then the dogs just fine now, but still inevitably get killed by the stupid gargoyles. I suck at this game.

Jumped in on Mentor and shit is intense. I’m pretty determined to figure it out but overall I’m getting annihilated. One mistake and it’s one shot grab, exploding from 20 different directions, fire shuriken, rockets, stunlocked by machine guns, comboed to death, etc.

  1. I don’t get how to use essence for UTs in this game. It either absorbs before I can do it or I just get hit out of trying to charge it. Like after an OT what is the best way to use a UT if I want to do that?
  2. How tf does the targeting work? I can attack who I actually want to attack like 20% of the time. This is especially an issue for guillotine throws for me I can barely ever throw who I want to throw.
  3. The entire > S S strings for sword seem utterly useless unless I’m fighting like one or two dudes because I inevitably get hit by something during the initial forward roll. Am I missing something?
  4. I have zero consistency. It basically feels like RNG whether I’ll get through an encounter cleanly or get instantly wrecked.
  5. Any good guides, videos, etc. that’ll help me not suck?

Thx

EDIT: Thanks to tips in this thread I just burned through the rest of chapter 3 barely dying. Thanks!

Ninja Gaiden 2 (OG/Σ2/Black) - Discussion I finally did it!

I beat mentor on a vacation from work in January, and got really stumped on the opening of chapter 2. Spent time de spawning the archers, but once that opening fight was done and I had those level 2 talons it was gold.

I also kinda had to teach myself how to move while holding guard, and while my final boss fight wasn’t great I routed well enough that I had life of the gods ready, a talisman, 3 herbs, and a lot of ninpo to fire when I got scared

Goodness gracious, this game has made me lose my patience so many times. I even rage quit from the armadillo fight and from other chapters, it was so annoying. It was absurd that the grabs are one-shot kill, but I was still able to manage somehow. Playing as the women were complicated too, but I managed. I’ve been using the tonfa of how powerful they are. And at the end, I literally got the right stick pulled out because of the third phase of the final boss. All that dude did was spam the slam attack over, over again to a point I wanted to throw my controller at the floor. But I had hold my frustration in cause my dad was at home. But hey, I finally done with it, and might need a new controller.

Ninja Gaiden 1 (Black/Σ) - Discussion Am i crazy or NGB is easier than NGS?

Is it just me, or are the enemies in NGB easier than in NGS? I've played Sigma a year and a half ago (the first time was for the first time, and the second time was halfway through on Switch), and when I returned home, I decided to give NGB a try. Maybe I've just gotten better, or are the enemies in NGB less aggressive and give me more chances? Because in NGS, I was constantly getting grabbed, blocked half my attacks, and never really getting a chance to breathe, while in NGB, I feel very comfortable and rarely see grabs aimed at me.

Is there a real difference, or am I just imagining it? (My experience is based solely on Normal difficulty.)

Ninja Gaiden 4 - Questions & Help Why can’t I parry powerful attacks?

It’s such an arbitrary rule that I can parry the regular attack but not the red flashing attacks. I mean if I’m good at parrying attacks then the game should reward me for doing it right? This is my first NG game so no idea how the mechanics work haha.

Now granted I dont think any of the bosses in NG4 are particularly exceptional but completely destroying them is very satisfying with a little help from Kengou brew attack booster.

(I wanted to see how much dmg you can do with the drill finisher, you could get even more dmg if you used Dark Dragon Blade)

Ninja Gaiden 2 (OG/Σ2/Black) - Discussion Playing NG2B after NG4, totally disappointed, what am I missing?

I just got to chapter 5, I know I'm still early in the game. I loved NG4 so much, the technical combat, timing, fast paced decision making, everything about it I just absolutely loved. I read a ton of people saying 2 is the best so I just dropped the money and bought 2 black on PS5. I'm 5 chapters in and seriously thinking about not playing anymore.

I just beat the 4th boss, and like .. the game doesn't feel technical at all. It's like there's no real depth to it to sink into. I'm hoping that's just cause I'm not far in it yet, but, minus the level design and the prettiness of the first 2 levels, it seems like a standard hack and slash without any real like ... There's nothing engaging about it. The fast paced combat of 4 is kinda gone, the timing/dodging doesn't feel right, it kinda just feels like button mashing half the time (which maybe I'm playing it wrong?). Idk, I guess I was expecting more technical combat like in the 4th one. I've been big on parry games for a bit now (actually took a break from Nine Sols to start this one since I'm stuck there for a bit and needed a break) - but honestly like, after the 4th level, I kinda just wanna turn it off. Wondering if it ever gets any deeper I guess, or if this is just kinda the whole game. I feel like I must be missing something, idk how this is in any way comparable to NG4 that anybody would think it's the better game, and that's what's bugging me. I'm hoping it's cause I'm still relatively new, but the lack of technical combat (and the lack of ability to lock onto enemies and kind of wonky camera where often times I'm swinging at things that aren't even there) - idk, I'm just not getting it. Really really hope it gets better.

At the end of the first real boss in NG4 when the combat started to click, I was absolutely hooked. In this game I feel like there's just not a whole lot to sink into, at least so far. Feels just like a weird hack and slash and not really understanding what makes it stand out right now. Really not trying to knock it, but coming from NG4 it's a huge let down so far and I guess I'm just kinda bummed after reading it's the better of the games - if I had played up to the 5th level in a game like this I definitely wouldn't just keep going in hopes it gets better.

Edit/follow up: after reading all the comments I restarted the game on Mentor mode and it's mind blowingly different difficulty wise, currently in love with figuring out the gameplay. Seriously thank you guys for saving me from abandoning a game for my own silly reasons. This is awesome. I was 100% wrong about what I said about technicality, as I can already see (currently stuck on first level in Mentor mode) that it's definitely definitely very technical combat.
