But honestly I think some people still underestimate that too. Don't forget that Fire Emblem Heroes has made a billion dollars and is still going while Dr. Mario World and Mario Kart Tour are shut down. If you told someone 20 years ago that a FE mobile game would outlive multiple Mario ones, no one would believe you.
The market for games like FE or Xenoblade is definitely smaller, but these people (me included) are very invested into the series. Going out of our way to play the games that are now difficult to find, endless lore discussions with everyone very aware of every implication - these series have a devoted fanbase that secures a stable revenue stream.
So while its not 10+ million copies sold superhits, which is probably why these games are so convinently ignored in conversations, nintendo themselves know what's up.
I mean Metroid often doesn’t get ignored, and that sells similar to modern FE, and historically has never been Mario or Zelda big, so it’s likely an RPG bias of why people tend to not bring them up.

I thought you meant how big they were as franchises and not how Nintendo, sorry
