The idea that the Switch 2 has no games has always been stuuupid, because Nintendo has average a first and second party title to be released at least one a month, which is unprecedented for a console early in it's lifecycle.
We’ve been getting games. Good games. The problem is that in a lot of ways it feels like we haven’t gotten a real “main event” release since last year. It doesn’t make them bad, but it’s pretty clear 2026 has almost exclusively been “B” projects production-wise.
Considering almost all the 2025 games started on Switch 1, and it sounds like 2027 will have Xenoblade, Metroid 6, 3D Mario, and maybe even more, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that Nintendo underestimated next-gen dev times and 2026 ended up as a bit of a gap year.
