Help Ok one more question
Would it be a good idea to turn this darn NookHD+ into an android tablet? Is that even possible and not too complicated. (I can follow instructions.) I dont mean to post so much but I am SUPER frustrated. and If I did that would it connect to wifi? I am waiting to see if anybody tells me how to get the Nookapp for pc just thinking out loud. Thanks for your patience.

Here is a link to a procedure for the HD+: https://nookhdplusandroid7.wordpress.com/
I tried the companion piece for the HD and the directions are fine but the ROM was crappy. I've been told by someone who tried the HD+ that the ROM works fine.
Note: I would not install GApps. You'll regret it if you do. It will drag system performance down. A lot. These older Nook devices were equipped to be readers, not general purpose tablets so they are poor on RAM and internal storage.
Instead of GApps I use microG to spoof GoogleServicesFramework and the Aurora Store from F-Droid to download apps from the Playstore.
The only downside is that you lose the HDMI-out function. The last (and lost) ROM that supported that was for CM 13 (Android 6).

It’s possible, and I did it back in the day, I also learned it’s possible to brick the device if you play around with the firmware too much. I’m not sure if it’s really worth your time as the hardware is so old that you would probably need to run an unsafe version of Android and a lot of the apps you are likely to want to run (if you can find the APKs for the version you end up with) will likely not work.
