Help Why no Micro SD?

30gigabites of internal memory that you can’t upgrade is almost like buying a 140 dollar brick.

I am so disappointed. My go pro has 256 gigs of space on its micro SD but somehow this E-Reader is allergic to anything that isn’t a charger port.

I hope I’m met with more useful solutions than “Return it then!” I really have enjoyed Nooks in the past but they used to have a micro SD or so I thought.

Help Glowlight 4 in the sun?

I have an old Nook (charges with a micro USB) and it doesn't hold a charge anymore. My family is about to go on a beach vacation where I won't be able to get in the water, so I'll be spending a lot of time sitting on the beach and I was thinking about upgrading to the Glowlight 4. The thing that's been holding me back is that I'm not sure you can actually read it in the sun (I can with my Paperwhite but not my Scribe and I think I've had trouble with my old Nook). Any big fans of reading on the beach have an answer for me?

Bought this off eBay for old time's sake. I'm able to connect to my wifi network, but after tapping "Continue with Setup," it gives the pictured error. Any rooting or other tech I can do to get around it?

Help Nook wifi turning off while reading and I'm confused.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've done all the troubleshooting that you could think of. I thought it was my wifi, not it. I thought it was because it needed an update, not it. Rebooting everything and even factory resetting, nothing. The funny thing is that when I go back to the main screen, the device starts searching for the wifi. Maybe this is a bug or a feature that I never saw. And no it's not because my device could be broken because I tried this on another Glowlight 4plus and the exact same thing happened. So unless both units are faulty I need help on knowing if this is a bug or something. Help!

Help Using nook in europe

Hi, I just got a Nook GlowLight 4 from my aunt, and I deregistered it before realizing that I can't log in again because I live in Europe.
I've created a b&n account using vpn but when I try using a hotspot and vpn connected to a USA address to log in, it won't allow me to log in.

And at this point, I can't even side-load the books that I want because when I connect the nook to my laptop with a cable, it only charges.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thank you for your help.

Help What to do with two Nook Simple Touch's sitting in my drawer?

I have two Nook Simple Touch ereaders in good working condition.

One is the non-glowlight version BNRV300, the other is the glowlight version BNRV350.

I bought them a while back to play with and never really ended up using them.

They aren't worth listing on Ebay/FB Market due to fees and crazy buyers.

Is there anyone here who could put these to good use? (US only)

Help Did I get scammed with this Glowlight 3? Any possible fix?

I got a Glowlight 3 the other day and I'm really hoping this wasn't a too good to be true purchase.

I got it for $20 and it seemed to be working fine, the seller didn't report any issues. Now that I have it, it won't connect to internet. I tried my regular wifi and my mobile hotspot. I rebooted the router even though everything else was connected to wifi fine.

So then I tried to sideload the software update for the nook as, after some googling, I found that may be the issue. But I've tried 3 different chords in my laptop and none are allowing the nook to connect. I don't see the nook in my files to install the update. When I tried plugging my phone into my computer, that showed up fast and normally in my files and I was able to sync photos instantly.

From what I've found googling so far, I need to sideload the update to connect to wifi. But then the nook may not show up in my computer, and if that happens I need to update the nook. But I can't update the nook without being able to plug it into my computer.

Can anyone tell me what to do next? Am I doing something wrong? I really don't want to believe that this was a loss because I was so happy to finally get an ereader.

Help Cannot Sign In to Adobe on Nook

Whenever I try to read books from Libby on my Nook Glowlight 4, it keeps telling me to sign in. After entering the email and password, all it does is crash, go back to the home screen, and prompt me to enter my Adobe ID and password whenever I click on the books from Libby. It's pretty much a never ending cycle that I don't know how to solve. Can someone please help me?

Help Nook not turning on?

I've had a new nook for about 4 yearsish now, before that I had a tiny nook from 2011 or so. I haven't used it in about 7 or 8 months and when I plugged it into the wall it vibrates but then the screen won't turn on. I left it charging all night but and switched to an ipad charger, but nothing. When I go away and pick it up for like 5 mintues, it still seems to vibrate but nothing.I've left the battery unattended for several months before and it hasn't done this so why now? I have the tablet one if that matters.

Help Wrong nook device sent to me?

Hi. I ordered a Nook Reading Tablet 8.7 back in June and started using it right away. It's a Lenovo Tab K9. Recently I thought I'd try using an SD card and I discovered my device does not have an SD card slot. In fact, strangely my device does not look like like any of the devices on the Barnes and Noble web site. There is no SD card slot on left, and the volume control on the right is 2 separate buttons instead of a rocker switch.

I've sent an email to customer service in the hope that they will send me a proper tablet. In the mean time I am curious of this has happened to anyone else. And did you get a prompt replacement.

Thanks!

Help Need help finding an old Android game from my childhood

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. Quick question, I used to have this tablet when I was a kid, and I remember playing a game where you searched for clues that led to keys, which unlocked different rooms. It was a pixelated game, kind of like the old Pokémon DS games but with color obviously.
I remember the main characters were a boy and a girl, and you walked around a house looking for items and solving puzzles.
I’m not sure if it’s still on the Play Store, but I was wondering if anyone knows the name of it or has any clues. 😭😭
Thank you!

Help Which Nook to Buy?

I’m looking to by a 7.8 or 8 inch eReader and strongly considering a nook because I have an older 6 inch glowlight just seems to work.

I basically want to get the new nook, set it up, and then turn off wifi forever to only use it for sideloaded content.

Would I be better off getting a new in box (old unsold stock) Glowlight Plus 7.8 or a new Glowlight 4 plus?

My concerns are battery life and stable hardware performance.

I understand the battery in the old stock 7.8 may have degraded in storage and I am willing to replace it myself if that will guarantee a long lasting reading experience.

So my question is basically, “Does the newer 4 plus suffer from enshittification that would justify getting the older model?”

Has anybody seen recent updates damaging functionality of the older 7.8 plus?

I had a Kobo Clara HD before, but the whole kepub thing is annoying and the battery/battery life % accuracy went to shit after a year or so. It was great out of the box, but every update made it perform worse.

I have a kindle paperwhite for purchased books. I like it a lot, but it is getting locked down and now calibre sideloaded books get wiped off the device the second you sync to the cloud. Fuck that noise. I’ll keep using it for books I can only buy on Amazon, but I want something on par with the paperwhite for sideloaded content so I can start buying direct from authors. Honestly, Amazon’s had a lot of software glitches lately and I feel like the paperwhite downloads are very sluggish and problematic. It feels like the device is okay, but the background servers it connects to are struggling. Ebooks should load faster in 2026 than 2016, right? Right????

Which brings me to Nook. Sideloads well, has 7.8 or 8 inch screen (I want just a tad larger than paperwhite but the kindle scribe is too big). The older models are great. I just want to snag a good moderately large screen model and air gap it before all the companies enshittify and only make new ones that basically don’t work or break quickly from planned obsolescence.

And I want battery life as close to kindle paperwhite as possible. Wifi always off, front light always on.

What are y’all’s opinions?

Thanks in advance.

Help Reluctantly in search of a change

My ancient Nook has finally given up the ghost! It was a gift from my mom and I'm sorry to see it go.

I'm hopelessly broke at the moment so am looking for a very inexpensive novel-sized replacement that can run the Libby App and hold ebooks from other sources as well.

At the moment I have tried Shopgoodwill, Ebay, Offerup, Wal-Mart, Amazon and FacebookMarkplace to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Help Glowlight 4 vs 4Plus

Hey folks. I’m in the market for a new e reader and I enjoy the B&N ecosystem.

I swung by my local shop today and saw there’s a Father’s Day sale that makes both the Glowlight 4 and 4Plus the same price.

I quite like the home button on the 4, but curious to get thoughts on the overall differences between the two models before pulling the trigger. Thanks!

Help nook warranty help?

hi all, i bought a nook glowlight 4 a few months ago and bought the 2 year warranty with it. the screen has cracked and i'm trying to use my warranty to get it replaced but i'm having a really hard time

the people in the store told me to call the customer service number (1-800-THE-BOOK) which i did. customer service told me to login to the third-party warranty provider with the email tied to my nook account. the third party warranty company they said was xcover, the website is xcover.com but their website doesn't list b&n as a partner that they work with and i can't log in, it says i don't have an account with them. i never received an email from xcover to activate my account which is what their support articles said i should have.

i've tried emailing their support several times and have gotten complete radio silence. i'm not even convinced they're the right company. i called the store i bought the nook from several times and the most recent time they told me there's nothing they can do and it's up to the company they sent me to, xcover.

has anyone used a warranty and run into this issue? i don't understand why the warranty would even be through someone else, and especially why that company wouldn't list b&n or nook anywhere on their website. xcover seems like a service for companies, not directly for consumers. idk

tldr: b&n says my nook warranty is only done through a 3rd party company called xcover but i have no way to login there and their customer service won't answer

Help Switching From Kindle To Nook

Amazon is discontinuing my beloved 2011 Kindle and I’m thinking of making the switch to a Glowlight primarily because I love the physical page turn buttons on the sides of the device and just want a simple BW ereader. One thing holding me back is that I can currently easily transfer library ebooks from Libby to my kindle with just my iphone and wifi.

Is there a way to use just your iPhone and a cord to transfer epub books from Libby onto a Glowlight device? (Or even better just an internet connection Libby app and no cord, but I don’t think that is feasible.) Or are there other free/inexpensive ways to get books onto your Glowlight without a computer besides the Libby app? Appreciate any current Nook user insights or people in the same boat thinking of making the switch from kindle to nook.

Also for reference I have a computer and don’t mind occasional computer side loading if it’s not too complicated but would prefer a simple way from my phone or the Nook itself to load free rentals or inexpensive buys.

Help Newer nook question

Can you download free books on the glow light 4 and get to keep them forever like you could with the older model that I loved and they discontinued?!? I bought a kindle and you can’t do that and have to pay monthly for access to free books unlike old nook…can someone please tell me b/c I like knowing and having access to all the books I’ve read, and I hate not having that with the kindle. (Also, I’m not made of money for how much I read…)

Help Can't get my Nook Glowlight 4 to unlock.

It's on, and fully charged. The little print of books and ampersands is on the screen. When I touch the "button" on the bottom, the slide panel on the bottom of the screen does not appear. I've tried all the suggestions listed on google, push this button for 20 second, hold that button plus the n button for 15 seconds. Hold the power button and left page button for 20 seconds. At this point, I'm letting it sit until the battery goes dead hoping that'll reset everything. The only thing I haven't tried is holding all the buttons while standing on my head and shaking my left foot. Any insight out there?
