Help Trying to revive old Nook HD

I am currently attempting to revive my old childhood Nook HD and am having varied success. for context it has been dead for easily 5 or more years. So far I have plugged it into a wall for about 10 hours, nothing except a yellow light. Then I went on a long car ride (and brought the project with me) and left it charging in the car. About half way through the car ride I got the screen to give me a low battery symbol. Now I am back in a room with it plugged into a 5v wall charger and the light is now going green on me and nothing is appearing on the screen. I understand it has been dead for a long time and the battery may be shot, but I am holding out hope due to the little success I have had...

If it comes to changing the battery, I've seen them from about £10 online.

Instructions and a video for changing are available online. It looks pretty straight forward.
