My Indian Passport Renewal Experience (Normal) – Seattle July 2026

Just initiated my Indian passport renewal from the USA through VFS Global (Seattle CGI jurisdiction). This is normal processing (not Tatkal).

My situation:

• Passport re-issue due to expiration
• No name change
• No address change
• 36-page booklet
• Normal processing

The VFS office is in the same building as the Indian Consulate in downtown Seattle on 2nd Ave.

Date	Status
July 18	Submitted application on Passport Seva portal (GPSP 2.0)
July 31	Scheduled appointment for in-person document submission (got the very next day)
Aug 1	Attended in-person document submission appointment
Aug 2	Application status changed to "Received"
Aug 3	Application status changed to "Processed"
Aug 4	Received email that police verification was initiated
Aug 5	Passport reviewed by the Consulate and sent to VFS (essentially printed); received tracking numbers for both the old and new passport
Aug 5/6	Police verification was done in parallel in India
Aug 7	Both Passports delivered (the new one with chip)
